    Procurement Officer

    Overall Responsibility

    • To ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods, services, and medical supplies required for the hospital\'s operations while maintaining quality standards and building reliable supplier relationships that support uninterrupted patient care delivery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement procurement plans in coordination with departmental heads.
    • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality products.
    • Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with approved budgets and procurement policies.
    • Maintain an updated and pre-qualified supplier database.
    • Ensure proper documentation and filing of procurement records for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Monitor supplier performance and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Coordinate with finance to ensure proper invoice verification and payment processing.
    • Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and statutory requirements.
    • Conduct regular market surveys and benchmarking to ensure value for money.
    • Manage inventory levels in collaboration with stores to prevent stock-outs and overstocking.
    • Participate in tendering processes and evaluation committees where required.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
    • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
    • High level of integrity and understanding of procurement ethics.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and procurement systems.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist-HomaBay

    Overall Responsibility

    • To support the pharmacist in the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications, ensuring patients receive the correct drugs at the right dose, while maintaining proper pharmaceutical records, stock controls, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines to patients.
    • Provide correct dosage instructions and educate patients on the safe use of medicines.
    • Counsel patients on possible side effects, drug interactions, and storage of medicines.
    • Ensure rational drug use in line with treatment guidelines.
    • Receive, verify, and record incoming pharmaceutical supplies.
    • Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of essential medicines.
    • Prevent stock-outs, overstocking, and drug expiries through proper inventory control.
    • Maintain accurate records of stock movement and generate periodic reports.
    • Ensure all pharmaceutical activities adhere to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations.
    • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and confidentiality within the pharmacy.
    • Participate in pharmacovigilance by reporting adverse drug reactions and poor-quality medicines.
    • Assist in preparing orders and liaising with suppliers for the replenishment of medicines.
    • Support audits, inspections, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
    • Contribute to departmental reports, data collection, and performance reviews.

    Job Qualifications & Skills 

    • A diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
    • Valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a clinical or supply chain setup (hospital, pharmacy, or warehouse).
    • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, stock management, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
    • High level of integrity and attention to detail.

    JOB TITLE: LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

    Overall Responsibility

    • The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for conducting laboratory tests, analyses, and procedures to support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients, while ensuring compliance with professional standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Receive, prepare, analyze, and process patient specimens in accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests accurately and within stipulated turnaround times.
    • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
    • Validate test results and promptly communicate critical values to clinicians.
    • Adhere to internal quality control and external quality assurance programs.
    • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health, KMLTTB, ISO, and other regulatory standards.
    • Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action processes.
    • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation.
    • Observe laboratory safety procedures, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
    • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
    • Report incidents, equipment malfunctions, and safety concerns promptly.
    • Provide professional interaction with patients during specimen collection where applicable.
    • Support clinicians with test interpretation where necessary.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical discussions when required.

    Job Qualifications & Skills 

    • Degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent.
    • Registered and licensed with the KMLTTB.
    • Valid practicing license.
    • Strong analytical and technical skills.
    • High level of professionalism and ethical conduct.
