    Social Media Manager

    About the Program:

    • Communications is crucial to WRI’s ability to bring about rapid, systemic changes to the health of society and the planet. The WRI Core Communications team works to expand WRI’s reach, reputation, and influence, and oversees strategy and outreach for the Institute to support WRI leadership, programs, centers and international offices.

    Job Highlight:

    • Reporting to the Global Director of Digital Communications, you will be responsible for managing WRI’s main social media channels. Guided by performance metrics and our overall communications and marketing goals, you will develop and manage strategies, content and digital assets that broaden the reach of WRI across social media and increase engagement with our organization and its work. You will collaborate with, support, and be supported by team members within the Core Communications team, as well as various communications staff members across WRI.

    What will you do:

    Community and content management (40% time):

    • Compose and publish content daily to WRI’s institutional social media channels, following our content strategy and using best practices and channel-specific functionalities
    • Manage a robust editorial calendar in collaboration with the WRI editorial/media team, while also curating and organizing content for reuse and amplification by WRI programs and staff
    • Engage community members through on-brand, and informed responses and dialogue
    • Monitor, analyze and report performance metrics of WRI’s social media accounts

    Content and digital asset creation (40% time):

    • Lead the development of high-quality content for social media that engages WRI’s key external audiences and attracts new followers – including the development of videos, visuals and graphics
    • Maintain a library of tools and templates that ensure brand and messaging consistency for all WRI social content in collaboration with the design team

    Strategy and guidance (20% time):

    • Oversee the strategy for WRI’s core social media channels to elevate our social media presence and performance – applying analytics and audience analysis to inform and test new content forms and outreach tactics
    • Keep track of the latest social media trends, techniques, and tools – and help share this information across the organization

    What will you need:

    • Education: You have a completed Bachelor’s degree. Studies in marketing, communications or relevant field considered a plus
    • Experience: You have a minimum of 7 years full-time relevant work experience managing social media channels – for high-profile/international brands inside a large, matrixed organization
    • You have developed and implemented social content strategies and campaigns that has attracted high levels of engagement on a variety of social media platforms
    • You have used social media measurement and metrics to inform strategy that has resulted in reaching goals for engagement and audience growth
    • You have designed, implemented, and managed processes and workflows to support an editorial calendar and the creation of high-quality content in collaboration with internal colleagues and external vendors and contractors
    • You have experience responding to a high-volume of comments and messages, and have managed organizational social media accounts during a public relation crisis
    • You have helped plan and manage paid advertising campaigns on multiple social media platforms
    • You have experience creating visuals for social media – including data visualizations, infographics, videos/reels, stories, or GIFs
    • You are familiar with Canva or other graphic design software
    • You are familiar with the topics and issues related to WRI’s work – such as climate change, energy, environmental protection and restoration, urban development and land use, economics and finance, and social equity
    • Languages: Verbal and written proficiency in English. Proficiency in additional languages a plus
    • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

    Chief of Party, Clean Air Catalyst

    About the Program:

    • Through its network of global and local experts, WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities supports city- and national-level change for people and the planet, focusing on integrated solutions to new and long-standing urban challenges, primarily in the Global South. The Clean Air Catalyst, a flagship initiative of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID - Cooperative Agreement), is a global partnership led by WRI and the Environmental Defense Fund and supported by seven global atmospheric science, public health, media, and policy partners. By combining scientific analysis, community engagement and strategic coalition building, the Clean Air Catalyst focuses on locally tailored, cost-effective and sustainable air quality interventions that can help reduce air pollution and achieve health, climate and equity goals.

    Job Highlight:

    • Reporting to Director, Urban Efficiency and Climate, you will serve as Chief of Party for the Clean Air Catalyst to help accelerate clean air solutions in Indore (India), Nairobi (Kenya) and Jakarta (Indonesia). In this role, you will work closely with project partners and colleagues across WRI to ensure effective leadership, strategy development, annual work planning and stakeholder and funder management.

    What will you do:

    • Provide strategic direction and management of the Clean Air Catalyst, ensuring
    • the project is on track to achieve stated goals and objectives, timely delivery of all
    • outputs, and effective use of funds to deliver impact
    • Oversee and coordinate activities of global project partners and pilot teams, in collaboration with technical leads and pilot project managers, and maintain project plans and trackers via Asana
    • Manage consortium of global project partners, and support pilot team leads in maintaining relationships with pilot partners
    • Line management of the global Clean Air Catalyst team (8 FTE) and ensure close collaboration with other WRI Programs and International Offices
    • Liaise with USAID to refine and adapt Clean Air Catalyst activities, workplan, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, and other project structures as appropriate to meet project goals
    • Articulate project successes and lessons learned internally and to global project partners, USAID, USG constituencies and other relevant stakeholders, and lead development of high-quality knowledge products
    • Develop strategic opportunities to build on the successes and lessons learned from the Clean Air Catalyst to accelerate integrated climate and clean air action in other cities, and engage partners and funders as appropriate
    • Represent WRI and the Clean Air Catalyst at external meetings and discussions with key regional and international partner organizations
    • Ensure the project is compliant with USAID Rules and Regulations

    What will you need:

    • Education: Advanced degree in science, engineering, policy, or related fields
    • Experience: Minimum 12 years of relevant full-time work experience, with 10+ years of experience in project management and project implementation in an international setting
    • Management experience in a USAID program of comparable size and scope is highly desirable
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with demonstrated ability in managing teams, collaborating with project partners (e.g. city officials and NGOs) and engaging funders
    • Strong knowledge of technical and policy aspects of climate and clean air
    • Knowledge of management of key air pollution sources in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (e.g. transportation, waste burning)
    • Effective project management approach, and experience leading large, complex,
    • multi-stakeholder programmes, and ability to manage and prioritise multiple
    • parallel tasks
    • Fluency in English combined with excellent communication skills, and
    • demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively in
    • conversation and writing
    • Experience working across different cultures, languages and time zones
    • Experience living and/or working in a Global South context
    • Demonstrated commitment to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity
    • WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position
