    Head of Section - Veg

    Job objective

    • As the Head of Section, you will oversee and manage all activities within the assigned vegetable farm section, ensuring efficient crop production, adherence to best agricultural practices, and achievement of production targets.

    Your tasks and responsibilities

    • Develop and implement section crop production plans in line with overall farm objectives.
    • Monitor crop growth stages, ensuring timely planting, weeding, pest control, and harvesting.
    • Coordinate with agronomists to optimize crop nutrition, irrigation, and disease management.
    • Ensure the use of best agronomic practices to maximize yield and quality.
    • Supervise, train, and motivate farm section staff to achieve high performance.
    • Allocate daily tasks and responsibilities to team leaders and monitor progress.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
    • Ensure staff comply with farm policies, health, and safety regulations.
    • Oversee the proper use and maintenance of farm machinery and tools.
    • Ensure efficient utilization of inputs (see ds, fertilizers, pesticides, water).
    • Monitor inventory levels and liaise with procurement for replenishment.
    • Plan and oversee irrigation schedules for optimal water usage.
    • Maintain accurate records of planting, spraying, irrigation, and harvest activities.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on crop performance, labour utilization, and section progress.
    • Ensure produce meets quality standards and market requirements.
    • Implement and enforce Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and farm certification standards.
    • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective measures

    Your profile

    • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in farm management or a supervisory role in vegetable production.
    • Proven leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong knowledge of crop production, pest and disease management, and irrigation.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in record keeping and reporting.
    • Familiarity with farm management software and modern agricultural technologies is an added advantage

    Land Preparation Snr Supervisor - Veg

    Job objective

    As the Senior Land Preparation Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing all land preparation activities to ensure optimal soil conditions for both indoor and outdoor vegetable farming. This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of land preparation techniques, and the ability to coordinate resources, equipment, and teams effectively to maximize productivity and ensure the timely preparation of land for planting.

    Your tasks and responsibilities

    • Develop and implement land preparation schedules in alignment with the overall farm production plan.
    • Supervise and coordinate all land preparation activities including plowing, harrowing, leveling, and bed formation.
    • Ensure that land preparation techniques are tailored to meet the specific needs of indoor and outdoor crops.
    • Monitor and evaluate soil health, drainage, and nutrient levels to ensure optimal growing conditions.
    • Oversee the application of soil amendments and fertilizers during land preparation.
    • Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of all land preparation machinery and equipment.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule timely servicing and repairs to minimize downtime.
    • Manage the allocation of machinery, tools, and materials to ensure efficient use of resources.
    • Ensure that irrigation infrastructure is properly integrated into land preparation activities
    • Supervise and lead the land preparation team, providing clear instructions and expectations.
    • Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure high performance and adherence to best practices.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
    • Maintain accurate records of land preparation activities, equipment usage, and resource allocation.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports to the Farm Manager on land preparation progress, challenges, and recommendations.
    • Track and analyze data to improve efficiency and identify areas for process improvement.
    • Ensure all land preparation activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols for the use of land preparation machinery and equipment.
    • Conduct risk assessments and address any hazards identified during land preparation.

    Your profile

    • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land preparation or farm operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
    • Strong knowledge of soil preparation, irrigation systems, and crop-specific land preparation techniques.
    • Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and land preparation equipment.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to farm operations.
