    Logistics Officer

    Key Responsibilities

    Logistics Operations Coordination

    • Execute daily logistics plans to support production schedules, sales orders, and distribution requirements.
    • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities, ensuring timely movement of raw materials and finished goods.
    • Monitor truck turnaround times (TAT) and flag delays or bottlenecks to the Logistics Manager for resolution.
    • Liaise with transporters and drivers to confirm delivery schedules, loading times, and route adherence.

    Transportation Support & Fleet Monitoring

    • Support the scheduling and allocation of vehicles for inbound deliveries and outbound customer dispatch.
    • Monitor driver compliance with company safety policies, transport regulations, and route plans.
    • Record and report vehicle utilization, trip data, fuel usage, and mileage for review by the Logistics Manager.
    • Follow up with third-party logistics (3PL) service providers to ensure timely collection and delivery of goods.
    • Flag vehicle breakdowns, delays, or non-conformances and coordinate timely resolution.

    Weighbridge Operations

    • Monitor weighbridge operations to ensure accurate weighing of all incoming and outgoing trucks.
    • Enforce adherence to weighbridge SOPs and report any anomalies, discrepancies, or suspected misreporting.
    • Prepare and verify daily weighbridge reports, cross-checking truck weights against loading and delivery documentation.
    • Report calibration or equipment faults to the appropriate team and follow up to ensure timely maintenance.

    Traffic Marshalling & Yard Management

    • Coordinate the flow of trucks within the plant facility to minimise congestion and improve turnaround time.
    • Guide the safe movement of trucks from gate checkpoints to designated loading, unloading, and staging zones.
    • Support traffic marshals in enforcing site safety rules and directing vehicle movements in compliance with yard procedures.
    • Report yard safety concerns, near-misses, or non-compliances to the Logistics Manager.

    Warehouse & Yard Coordination

    • Coordinate with warehouse and stores teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of trucks.
    • Monitor truck staging areas and parking bays to maintain orderly yard operations.
    • Ensure the yard is maintained in line with safety, security, and housekeeping standards at all times.

    Order Processing & Dispatch

    • Process and verify customer orders, ensuring accuracy of quantities, product specifications, and destination details.
    • Confirm dispatch documentation including delivery notes, loading sheets, and weighbridge tickets prior to truck departure.
    • Monitor picking, packing, and loading activities to minimise errors and ensure compliance with dispatch plans.
    • Communicate dispatch status updates to the customer service and sales teams in a timely manner.

    Documentation & Record Keeping

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date transport documents, gate passes, weighbridge records, and delivery notes.
    • Prepare daily logistics activity reports covering TAT, dispatch volumes, vehicle utilization, and delivery performance.
    • File and organise logistics documentation to support internal audits, management reporting, and regulatory inspections.
    • Update logistics data in ERP and transport management systems accurately and on time.

    Compliance, Safety & HSE Adherence

    • Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, transport regulations, and site safety requirements.
    • Conduct routine checks on trucks, loading areas, and driver documentation to verify roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.
    • Report logistics-related incidents, accidents, or near-misses immediately and assist with investigations as required.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness among drivers, transporters, and yard staff.

    Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination

    • Liaise with transporters, clearing agents, and suppliers to resolve day-to-day operational issues.
    • Coordinate with procurement, inventory, production, and customer service teams to ensure alignment on material flows and dispatch priorities.
    • Escalate unresolved transporter or supplier issues to the Logistics Manager for further action.

    Performance Monitoring Support

    • Track operational metrics including TAT, loading efficiency, dispatch accuracy, and on-time delivery performance.
    • Identify recurring operational challenges and report findings to the Logistics Manager with recommended corrective actions.
    • Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency and reduce costs.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
    • A Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or Procurement and Supplies Management from a recognised institution will be considered.
    • Professional membership or certification with KISM or CIPS is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transport coordination, fleet operations, or supply chain in a manufacturing, industrial, or FMCG environment.
    • Hands-on experience with weighbridge operations, gate management, and truck dispatch is highly desirable.
    • Experience working in cement manufacturing, building materials, or heavy industry is a strong advantage.
    • Proficiency in SAP
    • Basic familiarity with GPS/telematics vehicle tracking systems is advantageous.

    Inventory Controller

    The Inventory Controller will collaborate closely with the procurement, production, quality control, finance, and logistics teams to ensure seamless material flow and inventory accuracy. This position demands strong attention to detail, proficiency in ERP systems, sound knowledge of warehouse management principles, and the ability to manage inventory risks while driving continuous improvement in stock management practices

    Key Responsibilities

    Inventory Planning & Control

    • Maintain optimal stock levels to ensure uninterrupted operations.
    • Conduct regular stock analysis to identify consumption trends, overstocked items, and potential shortages.
    • Implement demand-based replenishment strategies to align inventory with production requirements.

    Receiving & Inspection

    • Verify incoming raw materials, spare parts, and supplies against purchase orders and delivery notes.
    • Conduct quality checks and coordinate with the Quality Control team for material approvals prior to acceptance.
    • Record and report discrepancies, damages, or shortages to the procurement and finance teams for timely resolution.

    Storage & Warehouse Organization

    • Ensure systematic storage based on material categories, handling requirements, and safety classifications.
    • Implement and maintain 5S and safety standards across all warehouse and stores areas.
    • Manage batch control, lot tracking, and shelf-life monitoring, applying FIFO/FEFO principles to minimise waste and obsolescence.

    Inventory Recording & Documentation

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records in SAP or applicable ERP systems.
    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliations to ensure system records align with physical inventory.
    • Prepare Goods Received Notes (GRNs), material issue slips, and stock movement reports in a timely and accurate manner.

    Issuance & Dispatch

    • Issue materials to production and other departments based on approved requisitions, ensuring proper authorisation.
    • Ensure correct picking, packing, and labelling of materials for internal issuance and outbound dispatch.
    • Coordinate with the logistics team to facilitate timely dispatch of materials and finished goods as required.

    Physical Stock Verification

    • Conduct scheduled cycle counts and participate in annual physical stock audits.
    • Investigate stock variances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to resolve discrepancies.
    • Implement preventive measures and internal controls to minimise stock losses and count variances.

    Loss Prevention & Security

    • Monitor and manage inventory risks including pilferage, obsolescence, damage, and material expiry.
    • Implement appropriate controls for restricted-access areas, high-value materials, and hazardous substances.

    Vendor & Internal Coordination

    • Coordinate with the procurement team on material replenishment needs, lead times, and reorder points.
    • Communicate material shortages, slow-moving items, and overstock situations to relevant stakeholders promptly.
    • Work closely with production, finance, and quality assurance teams to support operational continuity and accurate cost reporting.

    Compliance & Reporting

    • Ensure full adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), procurement policies, and regulatory guidelines.
    • Prepare and submit periodic inventory reports including stock status, aging analysis, and consumption trend reports to management.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation to support internal audits, external regulatory inspections, and financial reporting requirements.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Identify and implement optimisations in storage layouts and material handling workflows to improve efficiency.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities in inventory holding, including reduction of excess stock and elimination of obsolete materials.
    • Support digitalization and automation initiatives in warehouse operations, including ERP enhancements and barcode/RFID adoption.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Commerce, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications such as CIPS, Diploma, or KISM certification are an added advantage
    • Certification or training in warehouse management, inventory control, or stores management is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 7 years of inventory control, warehousing, or stores management experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or FMCG environment.
    • Experience in cement manufacturing, heavy industry, or chemical processing is a strong advantage.
    • Demonstrated experience conducting stock counts, reconciliations, and generating inventory reports.
    • Proficiency in SAP
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
