    Microbiology Laboratory Analyst

    Job Description

    • Conducting microbial testing analysis of samples in accordance with standard operating procedures, techniques, national, international and industry standards or client’s guidelines. 
    • Ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with the laboratory’s QA/QC system and more especially ISO/IEC 17025. In addition, ensure GLP compliance where applicable. 
    • Ensure that set Turnaround time for every sample submitted is adhered to and that clients’ testing requirements are fully met including application of correct methods/standard. 
    • Adhere to health and safety measures in regard to general hygiene, sample testing, sample retention, disposal/destruction. 
    • Keep abreast with the latest development of analytical standards related to microbiology and food technologies in order to continuously develop new methods and capabilities for validation and final adoption.  
    • Ensure that process control form is strictly followed and fully completed throughout the analysis process. 
    • Ensure that raw data of analyses carried out clearly supports results obtained prior to subsequent approvals 
    • Ensure that work records, samples and auxiliary documents are kept properly and organized in such manner as to be easy to retrieve and process. 
    • To work in a flexible manner /pattern so that resources are aligned to workload, thus meeting customer needs for 24hrs,365-day service whilst still maintaining a long term, viable and competitive business for SGS. 

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Microbiology, Food nutrition, Food Science and Technology or equivalent qualification from recognized institution 
    • At least two years laboratory testing experience preferably in a multi-purpose laboratory 
    • Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, GLP, HACCP and HSE standards and have sound knowledge of laboratory equipment such as the incubators, ovens, autoclaves and biosafety cabinet 
    • Satisfactory capability in application of the relevant testing protocol 
    • Work with minimum supervision, good communication skills and organization 
    • Foster Innovation, embrace Change, think strategically and translate the strategies into Actions 
    • Ability to influence Externally and Internally and be able to deliver Superior Results 

    Additional Information

    • The incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring : 
    • All activities are carried out in compliance with the laboratory’s QA/QC system and more specifically ISO/IEC 17025:2017. 
    • All results and test data produced is accurate, reliable and within acceptable repeatability/reproducibility. 
    • Health and safety measures are adhered to in regard to general hygiene, sample testing, sample retention and sample disposal/destruction. 
    • Clients testing requirements are fully met and set turnaround time is complied with at all times.

    Business Development/Execution Office Support

    Job Description

    Business development:

    • Lead generation - Overall sales strategy and creating sales plans to grow SGS revenue for designated accounts/region.
    • Customer relations management - Anticipate, identify, and understand client’s needs and concerns. Make recommendation to clients of the various solutions the company offers and translate those into sales opportunities.
    • Market and competitor research - Prepare presentations, quotations, service agreements and tenders within set deadlines.
    • Maintaining of customer database - Maintain a database of clients with contact information: telephone, direct mail, e-mail and networking.

    Execution Office Support

    • Inspection coordination - Ensuring the correct registration of inspection results executed by the inspectors of the assigned country/area/region.
    • Follow up on pending requirement for files, registrations and licenses.
    • Invoicing – Ensure accurate and timely invoicing for all jobs executed.
    • Customer service for the execution office.
    • Monitor Key performance indicator for the inspectors
    • Any other duties assigned to you from time to time by Management

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or equivalent.
    • Practical sales experience.
    • Knowledge on inspection procedures (internal training).
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • International trade and regulatory compliance knowledge.

    Health & Safety Coordinator

    Job Description

    • Operate to the highest standard of ethics as indicated in SGS integrity programs. 
    • Facilitate the strategic intent of the company on quality, safety, and environmental related issues. 
    • Local day-to-day implementation of the Health & Safety Management System. 
    • Ensuring that all efforts are made to achieve or better the annual H&S KPIs. 
    • Monitoring of the H&SMS and local QHSE systems to determine where improvements can be made, and necessary corrective and preventive actions carried out. 
    • Ensuring that records associated with Health & Safety, Environmental, Security and Sustainability arrangements, as specified in the H&SMS and other corporate policies and procedures, are maintained. 
    • Provide value addition to stakeholders and enhance the image of SGS.  
    • Play interactive role with country quality, safety, and environmental role players in conjunction with the H&S Manager.  
    • Create framework for an integrated management system (ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17020, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 etc.) 
    • Create quality, safety, and environmental awareness at all staff levels. 
    • Provide training on quality, safety, and environmental related matters. 
    • Implement measurement systems to monitor statistical control. 
    • Perform internal audits and assessments.  
    • Follow-up all corrective, remedial actions, and complaints 
    • Support and implement a hazard, near-miss and incident reporting and a corrective/preventative action system. 
    • Coordinate the formalization of a safety and environmental inspection program and ensure legal compliance. 
    • Manage Occupational Hygiene Surveys and coordinate risk assessment processes at all sites.  
    • Manage any government related safety and environmental requirements.  
    • Assist with incident investigations. 
    • Compile monthly Global Safety Report 
    • Travel onsite to support SGS staff and managers on the ground within the business lines throughout the assigned area of responsibility. 
    • Any other duties assigned to you from time to time by Management.  

    Qualifications

    • University Degree from a recognized University  
    • NEBOSH International General Certificate 
    • Prior work experience in a testing or production environment an added advantage
    • 3 Years in quality and safety management system experience 
    • People Management experience an added advantage 
    • Environmental experience will be an advantage. 
    • Knowledge of management systems and ability to work with multiple data. 
    • Experience in planning and scheduling inspections.
