About the Role:
- The Credit Manager - Kenya position is a field based role under the Global Risk and Credit team in Kenya. The role holder will be accountable for overseeing and managing credit risk & other risks within the Easybuy business. This role requires designing, implementing, and maintaining robust credit risk controls and operational processes to strengthen/improve the portfolio health and compliance.
What you would be expected to do
Analyze portfolio performance:
- Systematically identifying high-risk customers and classifying their default probability using data insights and direct outreach.
- Identification of portfolio Reflags and timely reporting of the same
- Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance metrics.
- Monitoring regional/area trends and specific product performance to identify and implement corrective measures for negative trends
Audit & Compliance:
- Conduct internal audits to identify process gaps and ensure compliance with existing policies- (Underwriting, Collection process, Welcome, Repossession process, Change of details etc )
- Provide detailed findings with actionable risk mitigation recommendations.
Collections Interventions:
- Engage in proactive collection strategies i.e. ensuring KYC and Underwriting strategies aimed at enhancing the quality of clients onboarded.
- Generate, define, and implement field-based collection strategies through the field teams to enhance collections.
- Review existing policies and their impact on portfolio management and recommend adjustments or updates based on the market trends or field findings.
- Ensure Optimization of Portfolio segmentation is achieved by assigning accounts from different buckets to specific users and propose segmentation changes where necessary.
- Pilot Management: Ensure pilots in the field are well managed and tracked to meet the set success metrics by engaging the relevant stakeholders
- Fraud management: Ensure investigations into reported fraud cases are done in a timely manner and cases closed within SLA.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare comprehensive field reports including data collation, process documentation, and operational insights. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance metrics.
- Perform industry research, interpret data insights, and propose strategies to strengthen Greenlight Planet Kenya Limited’s market position and revenue optimization in sales and collections.
- Any other task allocated by the credit lead/Risk leadership team in relation to the role scope from time to time.

Academic Qualification & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Risk Management or a related business field, over 10 years related experience preferably in the Audit/Risk/Credit/Analytics department with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Other relevant certification in Credit Management or Business Analytics/Statistics/ Data/Computer Science is an added advantage.
- Significant knowledge of data collection, field surveys
- Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and operationally hands-on Credit Manager to drive credit performance in our Clean Cooking Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) LPG business. This role is critical to addressing two of the most important issues for the business at our current stage:
- Recovery of LPG assets from churned and delinquent customers.
- Improving portfolio health and ARPU (average revenue per user.
The successful candidate will work closely with field teams, customer success, sales, operations, and risk to design and execute strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes. This is a highly field-intensive role that requires frequent travel to our operational territories, with an emphasis on real-time problem solving and execution.
What you would be expected to do
Portfolio health & ARPU improvement
- Analyze portfolio performance to identify drivers of low ARPU and design interventions to improve customer payment behavior, product utilization, and retention.
- Work with sales and customer success teams to implement customer-level interventions that address payment issues, product usage gaps, or operational issues.
- Monitor cohort performance and develop predictive insights to inform sales, marketing, and credit strategies.
Asset Recovery
- Head design and execution of field recovery operations to reclaim LPG cylinders and equipment from churned or non-paying customers.
- Build efficient recovery playbooks that balance cost, customer experience, and asset protection.
- Work with field teams to track recovery KPIs and implement continuous improvement.
Credit Risk & Field Operations
- Design simple, scalable underwriting, collections, and repossession processes tailored to PAYG LPG business model.
- Aid fraud detection and investigation processes, working closely with field teams to investigate and resolve fraud incidents.
- Conduct regular field visits to review processes, back escalations, and coach recovery and credit staff.
Reporting & Compliance
- Monitor and report on key credit risk indicators, recovery rates, and portfolio performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with company credit policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Prepare actionable field reports that inform operational adjustments and leadership alignment.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Credit Management, Operations, or a related field.
- 5+ years experience in credit risk, field operations, or asset recovery — experience in PAYG, microfinance, or asset leasing models strongly preferred.
- Proven track record driving field-based credit performance improvement.
- Experience working in emerging markets, preferably in rural or peri-urban settings.
