    In its pilot phase in 2001, CDTD was known as Domestic Support Services, and initially served 5 girls from Kibera. Sensitive to the needs of Kenyan women, Ms. Murogo soon expanded her program and officially registered the Centre as an NGO in 2003. Since its registration, she has adopted numerous programs in order to best assist the disadvantaged. While the Domestic Workers program remains the focal point of the program, CDTD now houses a Literacy Program, Continued Education Program, Rescue and Rehabilitation Program, and Refugee Rehabilitation Program. In total, CDTD’s size has multiplied 600 times since its birth in 2001.More than 10,000 individuals have been transformed through CDTD's work.     Consultancy: Development and Implementation of CDTD Board Leadership and Governance Policy

    Project background:

    In 2021, CDTD was selected as a beneficiary of the URAIA Trust, Women Voice and Leadership (WVL) program, funded by the Global Affair Canada (GAC) through CARE International and CARE Kenya. The WVL project is anchored on Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) which puts gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls at the heart of international development, humanitarian peace, and security. The overarching goal of the project “Building Bridges between Actors and Victims: Strengthening CDTD’s Governance and Organizational Capacity” is to contribute to gender equality and the increased enjoyment of human rights for women and girls in Kenya. WVL’s objective is to strengthen Women Rights Organizations (WROs) in Kenya to enhance their governance, management, programming, and sustainability by enhancing their ability to deliver quality services and increasing the effectiveness of their platforms to effect policy, legal and social change.

    Assignment Objectives:

    It is on this background that CDTD is seeking the services of a qualified consultant or individual to support in the Development and implementation of CDTD’s Leadership and Governance Policy. Having this Leadership and Governance Policy developed and implemented will enhance the capacity of the organization in areas of governance and leadership and that of the board to play its role.

    Project deliverables:

    In a bid to have the Leadership and Governance policy for CDTD developed and implemented, the consultant will be expected to;

    • Have a meeting with the CDTD Board, review and assess its capacity, gender balance and determine ways of strengthening and enhancing its capacity to play its role.
    • Develop and deliver a CDTD Leadership and Governance Policy within 7 days.

    Duration and timelines:

    This assignment is to be delivered within 1 working day after contracting. The development of the Leadership and Governance policy is to take 3 days. Total Consultation days are 3.

    Qualifications and competencies:

    • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in board management, leadership, and governance; or institutional capacity development in the not-for-profit sector.
    • At least seven years’ experience in Leadership and Governance.
    • Advanced University degree in business, economics, non-profit management, international development, or related field.
    • Excellent written and communication skills.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent communication skills including in presentations and report writing.
    • Excellent spoken and written English.
    • Good judgement, pays attention to nuance and detail, takes initiative, high sense of responsibility, tact and discretion, with sensitivity to different cultures.
    • Experience in leading and facilitating participatory processes
    • Ability to interpret, analyze, and synthesize information

    Consultancy: Development and Implementation of a Mentorship Plan for young Women Leaders

    Duration and timelines:

    • This assignment is to be delivered within 1 working day after contracting. The development of the plan is to take 2 days while the meetings with CDTD will take a day each. Total Consultation days are 4.

    Qualifications and competencies:

    • The candidate preferably has an undergraduate degree and/or professional certifications in human resources; leadership development; diversity, equity and inclusion; mentorship; and/or coaching.
    • The candidate should have at least 10 years of professional experience in human resources, organizational development, leadership development, mentorship and/or coaching, preferably in the International Development/Humanitarian Aid Sector.
    • The candidate should have experience accessing, tailoring and using mentorship and professional development tools, facilitating trainings and project management.

    The Applicants must describe and explain how and why they are the best candidate to meet the requirements of this solicitation by indicating the following experience in a cover letter of no more than 2 pages:

    • Leading mentorship and other leadership development programs
    • Collaborating and working with a diverse group of young women
    • Designing and implementing mentorship programs
    • Facilitating trainings and workshops
    • Adapting existing tools to local contexts
    • Responsible for project management
    • Providing guidance, tools and leadership to mentors
    • Good communication skills; and
    • Writing and documenting program handbooks.

    SGBV Male Champion for the Delivery of Sexual and Gender Based Violence

    Project deliverables:

    In a bid to have the SGBV mentorship sessions for young boys and girls carried out, the SGBV champion will be expected to;

    • Submit a detailed technical proposal outlining his understanding of the TOR, methodology for carrying out the mentorship sessions and resource implications in terms of time and budget.
    • Carry out mentorship sessions on SGBV for adolescent boys and girls in 5 selected mixed secondary schools in Kiambu (1 school), Nairobi (3 schools) and Kajiado (1 school).
    • Upon completion of mentorship sessions, submit to CDTD a detailed report in relation to the mentorship activities conducted.

    Qualifications and competencies:

    This consultancy is open to an individual who meets the following requirements:

    • The candidate preferably has an undergraduate degree and/or professional certifications in leadership development; diversity, equity and inclusion; mentorship; and/or coaching.
    • The candidate should have experience accessing, tailoring and using mentorship and professional development tools and facilitating trainings.
