    Data Analyst(s)

    Scope of Work

    • The Data Analyst (s) will work with the Western Kenya Sanitation Project (WKSP) Research & Development team to support in data collection, analysis reporting and visualization of the project data.

    Responsibilities

    The Data Analyst (s) should aim to achieve the following.

    • Data Collection: Support data collection quality checks for the Complicated plastics: addressing taboo waste streams to promote user dignity and sustainable waste management study while ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
    • Data Cleaning and Preprocessing: Clean and organize raw data to address any inconsistencies or errors and converting data into a format suitable for analysis.
    • Data Analysis: Perform statistical analyses and create descriptive and inferential reports for the data analyzed.
    • Data Interpretation and Reporting: Summarize the findings in a clear and concise manner and provide interpretations of the results while identifying trends, patterns, and correlations in the data.
    • Data Visualization: Translate the data into a visual context using maps, graphs etc.
    • Any other deliverable as shared by the Research and Development Team.

    Deliverables

    • Develop an analyzer guide for the Complicated plastics: addressing taboo waste streams to promote user dignity and sustainable waste management.
    • Submit cleaned and complete study databases.
    • Analysed data - descriptive and data triangulation for use in the study.
    • Summarized findings with visualizations from the Sanitation and MHM database.
    • Summarized report with key findings and visualization for the MHM baseline report.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics).
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (MS Office Word, Excel etc.).
    • Familiarity with M&E activities and processes.
    • Prior experience with mobile data collection platforms e.g., Kobo Collect, ODK, mWater etc.
    • Good understanding of data analytics tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, Python, R, SQL).
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
    • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

    Research Assistants(s)

    Scope of Work

    • The Research assistant(s) will work with the investigators undertaking the “Complicated plastics: addressing taboo waste streams to promote user dignity and sustainable waste management” study to digitize and transcribe all the data collected from quantitative and qualitative interviews.
    • The study aims to analyze the nexus of complicated plastic products (e.g. disposable menstrual pads), and sustainable sanitation, including how taboo waste creates barriers for sustainable and dignified MHHM for women and girls, and what specific occupational health risks sanitation workers that manage such taboo waste are exposed to and experience. The study area will be Kisumu County, Kisumu Central Subcounty.

    Responsibilities
    Responsibilities
    The Research Assistant(s) should aim to achieve the following.

    • Maintain quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.
    • Schedule and conduct interviews
    • Select a place to conduct interviews and obtain consent from all participants.
    • Transcribe all interview recordings in the prescribed format.
    • Write summarized reports on additional observation and the implications of the results.
    • Support in the analysis and collation of the qualitative data collected from the interviews.

    Deliverables

    • Audio recordings captured from the qualitative interviews conducted.
    • Interview transcriptions in the prescribed formats
    • Consent forms signed by all the respondents and participants lists.
    • Quality photographs
    • Summary report from the interviews conducted.

    Estimated Level of Effort

    • 5 days each for six Research Assistants hired to collect and consolidate quantitative data.
    • 10 days each for two Research Assistants hired to conduct, translate, and transcribe qualitative data

    Qualifications
    Qualifications

    • Proven work experience as a Research Assistant or similar role
    • Experience of facilitating or translating Focus Group Discussions
    • Experience of doing oral and written translations from Local languages to Swahili to English and vice versa
    • Knowledge of research ethics.
    • Master’s degree or ongoing in public health, social sciences like sociology, psychology, or any other relevant field.
    • Excellently proven English writing skills.
    • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.).
    • Great attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative and team
    • Commitment to timely and punctual execution of tasks.
