    Data Specialist

    Vacancy No: CGHR/327/11/22

    Job Summary: 

    Reporting to the Data Analyst, the Data Specialist will be responsible for the data management procedures of the various sites within the study area. S/he will be expected to work on various databases and therefore should be able to prioritize tasks to meet set deadlines.

    Required qualifications

    • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or Statistics
    • Certificate in Clinical Research, e.g Good Clinical Practice (GCP), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines etc

    Knowledge and skills

    • Knowledge in use of at least one statistical package; preferably STATA or R
    • Ability to use Open Data Kit (ODK)/ CommCare and other web-based and tablet-based data capture systems
    • Ability to use MS Excel including developing macros and consolidating data from multiple Excel spreadsheets
    • Good organizational skills
    • Flexible and able to work well with minimum supervision

    Specific duties and responsibilities

    • Conduct 100% source data verification, validation, and discrepancy management
    • Perform data cleaning, quality assurance and control
    • Ensure all missing data are captured in compliance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards and within strict study timelines
    • Troubleshoot and solve common electronic data capture system problems
    • Ensure timely and accurate data entry and validation
    • Provide field support to the study teams, as needed
    • Ensure timely response to data requests
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

    Research Administrator

    Vacancy No. CGHR/326/11/22

    Job Summary: 

    Reporting to the Study PI, the Research Administrator will be responsible for planning, and implementation of the study activities of the project, this includes training and supervision of clinical team and field staff, and ensuring that the research activities conducted according to study protocol.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Biomedical Sciences, Medical Sciences, Public Health, any relevant Social Science or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite and other packages.
    • Able to communicate effectively with members of the research team and national stakeholders
    • Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills
    • Fluency in English and Swahili, written and spoken, with additional fluency in Dholuo is preferred.
    • Participated in at least one health related research activity as coordinator or supervisor

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously;

    • Team player.

    Major duties and responsibilities:

    Coordinate and implement study activities for L9LS according to research protocol including:

    • Prepare Study Specific Standard Operating Procedures and train study staff on the same.
    • Draft and translate Informed Consent document and other study research documents.
    • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) to oversee administration of consent forms in compliance with study procedures, local regulations and GCP guidelines.
    • Review laboratory results and assist the PI in determining eligibility and selection of qualified subjects.
    • Prepare recruitment, consenting, screening and enrolment logs.
    • Monitor study team compliance with required study procedures and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
    • Audit clinical study records; compare case report forms with source documents; review drug accountability records and other relevant study supplies.
    • Document study-related communication with subjects, investigator, laboratories, sponsor and the rest of the research team.
    • Document protocol deviations and ensure appropriate reporting

    Field Technologist

    Vacancy No. CGHR/325/11/22

    Required Qualifications

    • Diploma in the following fields: Community development, Community health and development psychological counselling
    • Certificate in HIV counselling testing from NASCOP
    • Good command of written and spoken English, Kiswahili and Dholuo
    • Minimum of 1-year experience in data collection using various paper and electronic tools
    • Valid good clinical practice and human subject certificate
    • Female candidates preferred due to study sample group gender and age

    Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Identify potential participants
    • Consent and recruit eligible participants
    • Conduct project activities under guidance of Research Administrator e.g. surveys, blood collection and other biological sample collections
    • Translate study documents from English to Luo- e.g. consent forms, surveys, information sheets and qualitative data that has been transcribed.
    • Record collected data on logs and other instruments
    • Perform data entry
    • Submit to immediate supervisor daily reports of assigned work
    • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of research data
    • Participate in project trainings and meetings
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    This is a one-year (1) contract as per KEMRI scheme of service and a probation period for the first 3 months. Salary negotiable within the appropriate grade depending on education, experience and demonstrated competency.
