    Drivers (Tatu Day & Athi River Day Campuses)

    About The Role

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Operate the school motor vehicle in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that “door to door” policy for dropping and picking of pupils is maintained.
    • Follow planned route on a time schedule
    • Work together with the bus assistant in maintaining order in the bus.
    • Report and document any vehicle defect on daily basis.
    • Observe speed limits and all other road signs
    • Fuel allocated vehicle as per fueling schedule.
    • Drive pupils to educational trips, sports activities and any other school activity in a safe manner.
    • Document actual mileage, timings and destination in the vehicle movement book before commencement of any trip.
    • Undertake daily routine checks for tyres, oil, radiator coolant and lights.
    • Ensure the allocated school motor vehicle is kept clean on daily basis.
    • Notify Transport Manager of any accident/incident immediately.
    • Notify Transport Manager of any delay, route diversion and riots.
    • Follow Emergency policy when involved in emergencies or accident.
    • Ensure the school motor vehicle is safely and securely parked on campus and when on trips.
    • Ensure that all pupils on route are on board before journey start.
    • Ensure all on board are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers
    • Maintain order and discipline in the school motor vehicle.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned on behalf of the organization including running errands, transporting staff and ferrying students to the hospital for emergency cases.

    Compliance with Internal Policies, Standards, National Laws & Regulations

    • Adhere to the stipulated standards and conduct outlined by the Nova Pioneer Transport Policy, the Nova Pioneer Employee Handbook and other relevant policies.
    • Ensure that all National and County Legal requirements such as licenses, permits or certificates are met and continually kept current or updated. This includes any motor vehicle licenses, approvals, certificates and permits.
    • Champion & Promote Safety & Best Work Practices
    • Conduct weekly workplace inspection to ascertain adherence to the Workplace Health & Safety Protocols and other relevant standards.
    • Participate and own all Health & Safety initiatives that may be recommended by the Health & Safety Committee or other Organisation or School Leadership organs.
    • Responsibly handle and operate tools, equipment and machinery according to the prescribed manufacturer’s recommendations and safety procedures.
    • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor.
    • Keep the workshop, equipment and tools in a safe operating condition.

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • Diploma in Auto-mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
    • Knowledge of highway code and school bus regulations.
    • Possess a PSV License.
    • Possess a BCE- Class Driving License for more than 8 years.
    • Must Possess a recent (not older than 6 months) Certificate of Good Conduct.
    • Recommendation from 3 previous employers.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience with school bus transportation.
    • Ability to operate the school bus in a safe and responsible manner.
    • Client service and public interaction skills.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
    • First aid knowledge.

    Bus Assistants -Tatu Day & Athi River Day Campuses

    About The Role

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Fully embrace Nova’s values and beliefs and promote them to students, staff, parents and members of the outside community.
    • Work cohesively in a team, being respectful of each person’s contributions and style.
    • Maintain Door to Door Policy for pick-up and drop-off of pupils.
    • Ensure that every pupil is seated and using seat-belt before commencement of every journey.
    • Attend staff meetings that arise throughout the school year.
    • Accompany, assist and supervise pupils as they board/alight the bus and hand them to the designated guardian.
    • Advise the Transport Manager of any improvement involving pick up and drop off of pupils by observing and tracking route timings.
    • Convey any feedback/comment/enquiry from parents to the Transport Manager.
    • Deliver medication and convey dosage instructions to the school nurse.
    • Ensure that all pupils on route are on-board before commencement of journey.
    • Communicate to Transport Manager and School Dean regarding pupil behaviour.
    • Ensure all on board are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers.
    • Maintain order and discipline in the school bus.
    • Familiarize with all School bus routes and timings.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned while not on route.

    Safety

    • Supervise use of seatbelts by all pupils.
    • Ensure that pupils don’t drink or eat while the bus is in motion to avoid choking.
    • Ensure that pupils stand only when the bus comes to a complete halt.
    • Take prompt action in times of distress such as accidents, focusing on students’ safety primarily.
    • Follow the emergency procedure and work hand in hand with the driver to administer first aid where necessary.

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • Possess a diploma certificate. ECD will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to work, monitor and assist young children while on the bus.

    School Counsellor, Tatu Day Campus

    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    As the School Counsellor you will have the opportunity to:

    • Model, live and lead the Nova Culture
    • Collaboratively develop a Comprehensive School Counseling Policy with the Principal
    • Deliver a Comprehensive School Counselling Program
    • Develop and maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program based on best practice approaches and in line with the school’s ethos.
    • Communicate the goals of the comprehensive school counseling policy to education stakeholders (i.e., administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community/business leaders).
    • Maintain current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders.
    • Provide direct services through the Guidance Curriculum, Individual Student Planning and Preventive and Responsive Services, and most remaining time in program management, system support, and accountability
    • Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student needs.
    • Provide leadership and collaborate with other educators in the school-wide integration of best practice in counselling.
    • Implement appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
    • Plug-into the life skills programme as guided by the office of the Director of Academics and/ or the Principal to support with execution
    • Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.
    • Make use of data to devise interventions, in consultation with the Principal.
    • Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
    • Implement an effective referral and follow-up process as needed.
    • Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services. Consult the Principal if there is the need to invite an external service provider for the whole school, or for students, or for members of staff.
    • Provide appropriate information to school personnel related to the comprehensive school counseling program.
    • Assist teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in interpreting and understanding student data.
    • Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
    • Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program.
    • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.
    • Collaborate with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with educational, career, and life planning.
    • Conduct a yearly audit to review the counselling needs and trends in the school, and the extent to which the Counselling programme in the school is effective in its implementation, based on the data collected and analyzed.
    • Prepare the results of such analysis in a manner that makes it possible to share the information with different stakeholders: students, teachers, network, parents and guardians.
    • Plan and deliver routine wellness sessions for parents.
    • Collaborate with Learning Design team to incorporate therapy content in lesson
    • Ability to collaborate with the school nurse and other health professionals in case of referrals.

    About You

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • You have Professional Training in Counselling- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Counselling Psychology
    • You are registered with a counselor's professional body in Kenya
    • You have between 3-5 years of experience in institutional counselling
    • You are experienced in using assessment tools for determining and structuring individual and group counselling.
    • You are passionate about student welfare and want to help them tackle life’s different challenges
    • You have previously counselled children/ teens
    • You are a great communicator: You are able to provide a clear and persuasive pitch to anyone and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • You are results driven, goal oriented, move fast, and take ownership of work.
    • You have an exceptional ability to think strategically and yet you sweat the small stuff—people see you as unusually detail-oriented and conscientious
    • You have the ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive matters
    • You have a flexible and adaptable approach to work
