    Students Counsellor

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Provide confidential individual and group counselling sessions to students on personal, social, and academic concerns.
    • Offer crisis intervention and support for students facing emergencies or acute psychological distress.
    • Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential counselling records in line with professional standards.
    • Design and implement psycho-educational workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on mental health, stress management, conflict resolution, substance abuse, and other student-related issues.
    • Provide guidance on personal development, adjustment to university life, and coping strategies.
    • Work closely with faculty, student affairs, and administrative staff to identify and address student welfare issues.
    • Ensure counselling services align with professional ethical standards and the University’s policies.
    • Safeguard the confidentiality of student information while adhering to safeguarding and duty-of-care requirements.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

    Qualification and experience

    • Bachelors degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, or related field from an accredited University.
    • At least 3 years relevant experience in counselling in a reputable organisation.
    • Additional Professional Certifications will be an added advantage
    • Valid practising license from the Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA).
    • Knowledge of counselling theories and ethical practice.
    • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information

    Tutorial Fellow - Pharmacology

    Duties and responsibilities

    • To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department. 
    • Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels. 
    • Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals. 
    • Oversee clinical practice, providing students with real-world learning experiences and guidelines in hospitals or clinical settings. 
    • Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required. 
    • Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities. 
    • Carry out research and write research grant proposals. 
    • Seek and participate in consultancies. 
    • Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events. 
    • Dissemination of research outputs. 
    • Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff. 
    • Ensure all academic activities align with the standards of the Nursing Council of Kenya. 
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or as listed in the detailed Job description

    Qualification and experience

    • Master of Science in Pharmacology (or related fields like Molecular Pharmacology, Toxicology, or Clinical Pharmacy) from an accredited university.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, or Medicine from an accredited university.
    • At least three years of teaching/research experience at the University level
    • Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
    • A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya - NCK.

    Job Objective

    Qualification and experience

    • Master of Science in Nursing (Haematology) from an accredited university.
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from a recognised/ accredited university.
    • Registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification and progressing.
    • At least three (3) years of post-qualification work experience
    • A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya - NCK.
    • Demonstrate potential for university teaching and research.
