    Government Affairs & Market Access Director SSA

    What you’ll do?

    You will lead the Government Affairs & Market Access function for the SSA & FSA Markets. Offer expert support to cross-functional teams, building strategies to guide interactions with regulatory bodies, implementing policies to reduce regulatory infractions or improving some other area of Government Relations. You will manage overall Market Access function, be responsible for high level pricing and managed care contract strategy and work with senior commercial leaders to optimize access within key accounts.

    Typical accountabilities will include:

    Government Affairs

    • Leads the government affairs strategy for the SSA and FSA markets.
    • Establishes GA goals and objectives, tied to successful regulatory submissions and lobbying efforts.
    • Engages with commercial leaders at SLT and in market regularly to ensure business and professional objectives are met.
    • Identifies, analyses, and acts on legislative initiatives and emerging issues that could impact AstraZeneca, particularly it’s managed markets products and strategies.
    • Owns the most senior relationships with government officials and lobbyists, and leverages these to influence regulatory and legislative developments in the most favorable manor.
    • Serves as an internal thought leader on legislative and regulatory matters at the strategic level.
    • Participates in local, national, or global cross-functional teams to address and support Government Affairs related key business objectives and strategies.

    Market Access

    • Leads the exploration for, and evaluation of, a pipeline of potential pricing and contracting strategies and their integration into AZ business
    • Reviews contracting opportunities for risk and compliance, from a financial and legal perspective.
    • Encourages exploration of leading edge & novel marketing approaches that provide enhanced competitiveness to current and future AZ brands
    • Improves efficiency, effectiveness, profitability, and administration of contracting.
    • Ensures engagement of key stakeholders and governance bodies including: Brand Management Team, brand teams, skill centre leads, Long-Term Incentives and non-commercial functions as appropriate; in supporting the direction of the New Practice organization.
    • Builds and manages a flexible multi-skilled team capable of delivering group’s remit.
    • Serves as a core member of the leadership team, representing emerging new practice issues and opportunities as well as contributing to overall Marketing Strategy purpose.

    Essential

    • Bachelors degree in relevant field (Marketing, Science, Economics or Finance).
    • MBA qualification.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Government Affairs roles.
    • Experience in managing Government Affairs in SSA & FSA markets.
    • Strategic project leadership experience.
    • Multi industry marketing practice.
    • Thorough understanding of AZ business model with specific knowledge of brand team operation, brand planning and sales model.

    Medical Sales Representative GI - Mombasa

    What you’ll do?

You will be part of this exciting journey as we aim to improve Paediatric and adult asthma management across the public and private sectors.

    Some areas of focus for this role will include:

    Sales Achievement

    • Effectively implement sales strategy and tactics, plan of action (POA) in accordance with company policies
    • Regularly monitor territory’s sales performance versus budget
    • Facilitate enlistment of newly launched and key products in hospitals and clinics by planned date
    • Initiate appropriate actions to ensure performance is in line with objectives
    • Engage primary care healthcare professionals in dialogue about approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients.

    Territory Business Planning

    • Work with Sales Manager to develop a local strategy and business plan to meet or exceed sales and call execution goals in territory
    • Drive sales performance and ensure sales forecasts and assigned budgets meet or exceed therapeutic and territory expectations.
    • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of market, demographic, and managed markets information relative to assigned sales territory.
    • Conduct analysis of market/ competitors to identify territory business opportunities
    • Develop territory Business Plan based on POA and allocate resources (e.g. call activities, budget), for optimal sales impact
    • Monitor territory business plan to ensure resources are directed to customer of greatest potential
    • Participate in promotional activity programmes to increase product awareness in the market

    Customer Focus and Service

    • Comply with all regulations regarding interactions with healthcare professionals, distribution of samples, etc.
    • Update territory customer segmentation classification, database and call records continuously
    • Deliver key promotional messages within approved detail aids and in line with POA
    • Build trust and credibility with customers by demonstrating professionalism acting within the AZ Code of Conduct
    • Explore and expand new customer base in line with SFE guidelines

    Reporting/ Administration

    • Submit monthly reports commenting on deviations from Business Plan and intended actions to align performance with objectives
    • Ensure punctual delivery of reports / daily synchronization on Veeva

    Personal Development

    • Develop behaviors leading to enhancement effectiveness as outlined in MSR competency definitions
    • Identify areas for self-development and discuss developmental needs with FLSM
    • Attend and actively participate in sales meetings, product and sales training

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Basic Sciences or registered Pharmacist (Pharm/PharmD)
    • 2-4 years post qualification experience
    • Medical Sales experience
    • Existing Relationships with KOL’s in the therapeutic area
    • Strong Negotiation skills
    • Previous experience with facilitating and organizing meetings
    • Proven sales and customer success record
    • Previous experience and knowledge of the therapeutic area especially in pharmacy Sales roles.
    • A Valid driver’s license
