    HTS Counsellors

    HTS Counsellor: CHSI/HTSC/02/2022

    Centre for Health Solutions Institute Ltd. is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the HTS Counselor position in Nyeri County.

    Overall Job Function

    Reporting to the Facility in Charge, the HTS Counsellor is responsible for providing HIV Testing Services to patients and clients seeking services in their respective health facilities using provider-initiated testing and counseling, voluntary counseling and testing, targeted family and partner testing/Partner notification services, and other novel HTS approaches.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Create awareness and provide education about the existence of HIV testing services
    • Lead in the mobilisation of clients for HTS
    • Provide pre/post-test HIV counseling ensuring that clients understand risk factors, prevention methods, and other relevant issues
    • Provide confidential HIV testing to clients, as per national HTS guidelines
    • Provide on-going counseling and make relevant referrals for on-going support
    • Ensure quality of HTS services at all times
    • Implement high yielding testing strategies like eligibility screening and PNS
    • Document and maintain accurate HTS records including referrals and report on referral outcomes
    • Compile and submit HTS reports on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to the supervisor
    • Timely request for all the necessary consumables for undertaking HTS activities
    • Participate in HTS QA activities like PT, counseling supervision etc.
    • Ensure HTS Optimization in the facility
    • Perform any other duties as directed by the supervisor

    Competencies Required

    • Have a diploma in guidance and counselling, health-related or social science field.
    • Be certified by NASCOP as an HTS Counselor
    • Work experience as an HTS Counselor in a health setting is an added advantage
    • Should be self-motivated
    • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

    Registered Clinical Officer

    Registered Clinical Officer: CHSI/RCO/02/2022

    CHS Institute Ltd. is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of a Registered Clinical Officer in Nyeri County

    Overall Job Function

    Reporting to the Facility In charge, The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing HIV/TB and related treatment services at supported sites as a member of the clinical team. The Clinical Officer will ensure that optimal standard of care is achieved in line with National guidelines, client satisfaction, and good clinical outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Management and coordination of HIV/TB Clinic activities
    • Assist and work together with other Clinic team members in support of all the CCC activities.
    • Ensure proper patient management of HIV/TB is done in line with National guidelines
    • Provide adherence counseling and implementation of clinical aspects of the Positive Health Dignity and Prevention program (PHDP) to clients attending the clinic
    • Ensuring that the optimal standard of care is achieved by establishing and maintaining the use of nationally approved clinical guidelines and protocols and with the help of the care manager, updating ones’ knowledge of HIV/AIDs management using evidence-based practice
    • Counsel clients on compliance to treatment
    • Provide information, education and communication to clients and their families in the clinic through support groups, health talks and educational materials
    • Ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality.
    • Ensure integration of HIV services in OPD, MCH, inpatient and other outpatient clinics.
    • Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) to discuss complicated cases.
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve service delivery and patient level outcomes
    • Participation and contribution to capacity building of clinical and other staff through CMEs, mentorship, sensitisation and updates
    • Mentor and supervise other health care professionals to assist in provision of HIV care.
    • Ensure complete documentation in various HIV care related tools as recommended
    • Provide regular feedback to care staff/ facility management on work related concerns
    • Conduct any other duty as may be prescribed by the supervisor

    Competencies Required

    • Have a Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from Kenya Medical Training College or any recognised institution
    • Have a valid practice License from the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya
    • Work experience in Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) or MCH is preferable
    • Experience working with MOH/County systems and personnel will be an added advantage
    • Experience working in PEPFAR funded projects is an added advantage
    • Should be self-motivated
    • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

    Health Records and Information Officer

    Health Records and Information Officer: CHSI/HRIO/01/2022

    Centre for Health Solutions Institute Ltd. is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of a Health Records and Information Officer (HRIO) in Nyeri County.

    Overall Job Function

    Reporting to the Facility In charge, the HRIO is responsible for providing support to the health facilities in medical documentation, data management, data analysis, and reporting

    Key Responsibilities

    Documentation and reporting

    • Ensure availability of necessary data collection and reporting tools at the facility. This will include patient cards/files, registers, reporting tools, databases
    • Maintain data security and confidentiality
    • Guide the facility staff on effective data management especially on correct and complete documentation
    • Ensure all required data summaries and facility reports are complete, accurate and timely
    • Reporting for the facilities through DHIS
    • Participate in data collection for program monitoring and research

    Data quality audits

    • Review data prior to submission to DHRIO/ uploading into DHIS
    • Scheduling and participating in facility data quality audits
    • Cleaning EMR and DHIS data

    Computerisation

    • Ensure the facility EMR is up-to-date
    • Perform regular back-up of EMRs

    Data utilization

    • Assist in compilation of ad-hoc or systematic data analysis, and share with the facility staff during MDT meetings
    • Support innovative ways of data presentation to ensure maximum and timely utilization

    Competencies Required

    • Be in possession of at least a diploma in Health Records and Information from a recognised medical training college.
    • Work experience as a HRIO at a health setting
    • Work experience with EMRs at a health setting is an added advantage
    • Should be self-motivated
    • Should have good interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision

    Social Worker

    Social Worker: CHSI/SW/02/2022

    Overall Job Function

    The Social Worker will offer support in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of adherence support activities required for HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in the respective health facilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support in the planning, initiation, and implementation of the Adherence Psychosocial Support minimum package at the respective health facilities.  This is to be implemented in the CCC, PMTCT, and TB clinics.
    • Support the coordination of psychosocial support activities targeting adults, adolescents, pediatrics, PMTCT mothers, and discordant couples.
    • Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of defaulter identification and tracking systems at the respective health facilities in the respective health facilities using the already approved tools.
    • Support the CCC in Charge of mentoring the Peer Educators and mentor mothers in Adherence to Psychosocial Support and Community activities.
    • Participate in activities that lead to strengthened linkages between the health facility and the community.
    • Support planning, implementation, and evaluation of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention (PHDP) activities at the health facility.
    • Identify, document, and share key lessons and practices learned on adherence and psychosocial support from health facilities and the community
    • Participate in community mobilisation activities
    • Participate in-home visits and home-based care activities
    • Support counseling of the clients admitted to the wards
    • Ensure there is a functional intra and inter-facility and community referrals
    • Support the CCC in charges in integrating WASH activities into HIV programming
    • Any other duty assigned.

    Competencies Required

    • Teaching, facilitation, mentoring, and counseling skills
    • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
    • Good interpersonal, organisational, and written/verbal communication skills
    • Two years of work experience as a Social Worker within the health sector  .

     Medical Qualifications 

    • Diploma in Medical Sociology, Sociology, Social Work, or Community Development
    • Computer Literate (Ms. Word, Ms. Excel, Ms. Power Point)
