JOB PURPOSE
WFP Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa has one National Engineer within Logistics and Engineering unit. The Engineer supports country offices and is also expected to carry out RBN specific tasks such as conducting oversights, guiding, and advising country offices, and reporting on projects as well as emergency preparedness.
We are seeking to fill the position of Architectural Intern based in the Logistics and Engineering Unit Unit of the Regional Bureau, Nairobi.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree) from a recognized university; or have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months, preferably in Architecture (AAK and BORAQS accredited degree in Architecture)
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree) from a recognized university, undertaking the programme mentioned above, and have attended classes in the past 12 months,
- Fluent in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset.
- Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet, and other software packages. Proficiency in Excel and fair knowledge of pivot tables. Office 365 proficiency an added advantage
- Experience in use of software such as AutoCAD/ArchiCAD or REVIT is required.
- Experience in google suite applications will be an asset

What you will do:
Under the overall supervision and mentorship of the Engineer, The Architectural intern will;
- Support in completion of emergency construction long-term agreements. (LTAs)
- Assist in the preparation of generic drawings for most common small structures done by country offices.
- Assist in the preparation of architectural concepts for some common structures in emergency response.
- Assist in monthly reporting of country office projects.
- Support in general construction projects management
- Assist to Improve designs of most common small structures in Country offices.
- Explore and assist with generating timely and creative solutions for design tasks within the functional parameters of a project, translating concepts and information into images.

JOB PURPOSE
Embracing new modalities and increasing the complexity of WFP’s food basket raises additional food safety and quality risks, particularly when serving vulnerable populations in challenging emergency contexts. These initiatives and policies, therefore, require the incorporation of food safety and quality from programme design up to delivery. Ensuring that the food WFP provides to beneficiaries is safe and of acceptable quality is at its core. WFP is focused on embedding a culture of food safety and quality assurance across the organization, from program design across the supply chain to distribution. WFP aims to build trust by adhering to the highest food safety and quality standards and takes immediate action in the event of incidents related to the food that WFP provides. WFP benchmarks its Food Safety and Quality Management System against internationally recognized standards, CODEX Alimentarius, and local and international regulatory requirements. WFP undertakes continuous risk analysis, due diligence, and assurance of food safety and quality throughout its operations and supply chain that continues to enable WFP to respond with agility and speed to operational needs.
We are seeking to fill the position of Food Quality and Safety Intern based in the Food Quality and Safety Unit of the Regional Bureau for Eastern Africa.
During the training period, the intern will also support the very lean FSQ team with activities stipulated in the work plan around the RBN FSQ priorities.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree) from a recognized university; or have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months, preferably in Food Science and Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Engineering,, Analytical Chemistry or any other related field.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree) from a recognized university, undertaking the programmes mentioned above, and have attended classes in the past 12 months,
- Training in food quality assurance
- Training in Quality and Food Safety Management systems implementation (e.g. ISO 22000, 9001, 17025, FSSC 22000 etc.)
- Fluent in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset.
- Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet, and other software packages. Proficiency in Use of ERP systems, Statistical Process Control tools or any data analysis tools is desirable.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
What you will do:
- Random review of commodity inspection reports to establish compliance to contractual requirements (FSQ components), identifying testing/inspection gaps and gaps in testing methodologies which will ensure Inspection Company adheres to the validated testing methods.
- Supporting in food quality incidents investigations by ensuring all information needed from the field (CO) is available for the RB FSQAO/FT and Headquarters to respond accordingly
- Food inspection data collation and analysis, generation of quality trackers for different commodities which will also become basis for supplier performance evaluation
- Food quality deviations tracking together with corrective actions status to inform continual improvement status by suppliers in managing processes.
- Post-supplier audit Correction Action Preventive Action (CAPA) tracking for suppliers to ensure that committed timelines are adhered to and the FSQA Officer is timely updating the suppliers.
- Collating all corrective and preventive actions from food incidents, supplier audits, food non-conformities to ensure tracking of root cause analysis and CAPA closure
- Coordinating Compliance Testing process to ensure samples are submitted to the contracted Laboratory and results update timely in the system.
- Responding to urgent Country Office needs and liaising with FSQAO/FT if need be where escalation is required e.g verifying specifications, reviewing food quality reports, verifying if local regulatory requirements exist or are updated for particular commodities, applicable food standards etc.
- Prepare monthly incidents & corrective actions status, Food Release Status Report and any other reports as may be advised from time to time for all commodities in collaboration with the technical team.
- Collating information on emerging food safety risks and researching on actions to verify and mitigate.
- Providing any technical guidance/support when called upon by any other unit.
