    Senior HR Manager

    The Senior HR Manager will play a strategic role in the organization and spearhead the development and execution of HR initiatives aligned with organizational goals. This role demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll management & compensation, performance management, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse workforce, enforcing HR policies, and fostering a positive and inclusive work culture. Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach are essential for driving operational efficiency and measuring HR performance.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that support business objectives, foster a high-performance culture, and ensure compliance with the Kenyan Employment and labour laws.
    • Operational Excellence: Oversee the full spectrum of HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and training and development.
    • Workforce Management: Manage a diverse workforce, balancing the needs of permanent and casual staff while ensuring fair and equitable treatment.
    • Policy Enforcement: Maintain the highest level of HR integrity by strictly enforcing company policies, particularly those related to casual hiring.
    • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage HR analytics and metrics to inform strategic decisions and optimize HR processes.
    • Culture Building: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that aligns with the company's values and attracts top talent.
    • Systems Management: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of HR system and databases.
    • Health Insurance: Manage staff health policies, including medical insurance contracts and statutory obligations.
    • Legal Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with Data Protection Act in all HR and administrative processes as well as compliance with labor laws, collaborating closely with the legal team on disciplinary matters.
    • HR Audit: Prepare for and support regular HR and administration audits and actively participate in safeguarding and risk management committee.
    • Communication: Facilitate employee communication and services while advising on disciplinary, grievance, and conflict resolution procedures.
    • Compensation Management: Participate in compensation reviews and benchmarking, driving internal equity by following the applicable compensation policies and advising management on compensation levels based on internal equity and external competitiveness analysis.
    • Learning & Development: Manage and coordinate the delivery of learning solutions across the business as well as provide advice and coaching to line managers in accordance with established HR policies and procedures to enable people management topics.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
    • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field will be an added advantage.
    • CHRP-K or Post graduate diploma in Human Resources Management qualification.
    • A minimum of Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management with at least Five (5) years in senior management.
    • Must be a registered member of IHRM.
    • Strong ability to enforce HR policies and maintain high standards of HR practice.
    • Proven experience managing and working in an HR management capacity with large multi cultural teams

    Human Resource Manager

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement comprehensive HR procedures and policies that are compliant with all relevant Kenyan labour laws and regulations, including the Employment Act 2007, the Labour Relations Act, and other statutory instruments governing wages, working hours, and health and safety.
    • Conduct regular HR audits across all stores to identify and address potential compliance risks, ensuring that all documentation (e.g., employment contracts, personal files, NSSF, NHIF) is accurate and up to date.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all legal and regulatory inquiries related to HR, working with legal counsel and government agencies as needed.
    • Act as a trusted advisor and mediator for managers and employees, addressing and resolving employee relations issues, grievances, and disputes in a fair and timely manner in accordance with the Labour Relations Act.
    • Oversee disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring all processes are compliant with Kenyan law and properly documented.
    • Implement and manage performance management systems, including performance reviews and coaching, to ensure all staff meet company standards and have growth opportunities.
    • Lead initiatives to boost employee morale, engagement, and retention in a high-turnover industry.
    • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for all store-level positions, from sourcing and screening to interviewing and onboarding, ensuring compliance with equal opportunity principles.
    • Develop and deliver training programs for new hires and existing staff on a range of topics, including HR policies, compliance, workplace safety (OSHA), and customer service.
    • Collaborate with store managers to forecast staffing needs and create effective hiring plans to always ensure adequate staffing levels.
    • Analyse key HR metrics such as turnover rates, time-to-hire, and employee satisfaction to improve HR strategies.
    • Oversee payroll processes to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time, with proper consideration for statutory deductions (NSSF, NHIF, PAYE) and other compensation.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, both physical and digital, in compliance with data protection laws.
    • Manage employee benefits administration and assist with employee inquiries regarding Sacco contributions and other benefits.
    • Generate and present regular HR reports to senior management, providing insights on workforce trends, labour costs, and compliance status.

    Professional Experience, Educational background, and skills required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated expertise in HR compliance, including a strong working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and regulations.
    • Proficiency in HR software and systems.
    • Leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Adaptability and cultural sensitivity.
    • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

    Construction Manager

    The Construction Manager will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive project plans, budgets, and schedules for all construction activities. The role involves overseeing departmental resources including people, materials, tools, and equipment to drive efficiency and maximize performance.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Project Management: Overseeing the complete lifecycle of assigned construction projects, from strategic planning and budgeting to final handover and closeout.
    • Team Leadership: Providing strategic leadership and mentorship to the construction department, including supervisors, crews, and subcontractors.
    • Safety Management: Developing and enforcing a comprehensive safety program, ensuring a culture of safety and compliance with all regulations.
    • Quality Control: Establishing and maintaining stringent quality standards and conducting regular inspections to ensure all work meets project specifications.
    • Communication: Serving as a major point of contact for construction-related matters, communicating effectively with senior leadership, department heads, and external partners with the guidance and concurrence of the Head of Department.
    • Scheduling: Creating, monitoring, and adjusting master construction schedules to ensure all projects are completed efficiently and on time.
    • Resource Management: Strategically allocating and managing departmental resources as assigned by the Head od Department to by the to maximize efficiency and project success.
    • Problem Solving: Proactively identifying potential challenges and developing strategic solutions to mitigate risks and keep projects on track.
    • Documentation: Ensuring all project documentation, including contracts, progress reports, and financial records, is accurate, complete, and up to date.
    • Training and Mentoring: Supporting the Head of Department in developing and implementing training programs for the construction team, fostering continuous professional growth and skill development.
    • Budget Management: Working through the Head of Department, in developing, managing, and forecasting departmental budgets, ensuring all projects are completed within financial constraints.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced degree or professional certification is an advantage
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in complex industrial construction projects with in-depth understanding of advanced construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
