About the Fraud Analyst Role

As our Fraud Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to secure Flutterwave’s assets and reduce losses by determining network security and fraud management requirements 

You will also plan, implement, test systems, prepare network security and fraud management standards, policies, and procedures to manage and minimize fraud risk, assisting businesses with implementing the ‘best in class tools & processes.

What Your Day to Day Activities Will Be Like 

• Identify and track current fraud trends by reviewing transaction and account patterns.
• Test and provide feedback on process and system improvements that are based on changing fraud trends and patterns
• Work closely with internal functions including Disputes, Recoveries, Customer Service, and Compliance
• Monitor Merchant transaction and account activity for potentially fraudulent activity including identity theft, account take over, friendly fraud, and other identified risks
• Effectively communicate with appropriate authorities to resolve fraud concerns.
• Maintain a high level of customer service while addressing customer, merchant, and bank requests via phone, email
• Coordinate information requests and analyze performance reporting to identify potential risk areas, and escalate resource needs as necessary. Perform data management and analysis on fraud cases.
• Advise organizations on current trends regarding chargeback-related issues/regulations.

• Strong analyzing and organizing skill
• Excellent customer service.
• Minimum of 4 years relatable experience
• Detailed understanding of the Company’s service and payment products
• Proficient financial background for pricing analysis
• Strong business and product development skill
• Possess the ability to identify, assess, monitor, control, and mitigate risks
• Excellent Attention to details
• Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to Fraud Risk Management. 
• Proactive team player with good interpersonal skills

What Your Day to Day Activities Will Be Like 

• Business growth and acquisition
  1. Develop and implement expansion and acquisition strategies aimed at achieving Flutterwave’s expansion and growth strategy in the assigned country
  2. Foster strategic, mutually beneficial business relationships with key partners, predominantly including but not limited to Financial Institutions, Central Banks, Government regulators and other key industry stakeholders
  3. Identify and manage new business opportunities and take accountability for project evaluations

• Compliance and regulatory matters

  1. Oversee and secure all necessary regulatory licenses, permits and approvals required for the designated entity
  2. Foster strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the regulatory environment ensuring optimal value is derived from these relationships

• Partnerships and collaboration

  1. Develop and maintain key partnerships and collaborations in [name of country] in line with Flutterwave’s overall partnership development strategy
  2. Actively negotiate and oversee all legal agreements and documentation and acting in the best interest of Flutterwave
  3. Oversee the development of the Partnership teams with particular focus on identifying, initiating and maintaining key relationships Develop a trackable pipeline of potential partnership opportunities with deliberate focus on conversion in line with agreed timelines

• Operational Efficiency

  1. Ensure all business processes and procedures run smoothly leading to optimal productivity and output across all teams
  2. Lead all business planning and budgeting processes ensuring interdepartmental coordination and strategic mapping of Flutterwave’s goals and objectives
  3. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of in-country resources in line with approved manpower plans and budgets

• People Management

  • Guide, advise, mentor and coach junior staff and peers to develop and broaden their scope of skills, including providing on the job learning opportunities

Required competency and skillset to be a waver

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the Financial services industry
• Expertise in payments, financial services and / or local payment method
• A proven track-record of leading companies and/or teams and meeting operational and strategic targets
• Excellent communication skills and strong leadership capability
• Exceptional people management skills; ability to foster right behavior in others through leading by example
• Entrepreneurial mindset, making presentations, writing proposals, signing contracts, developing partnerships
• Interested in shaping the future of payments, focusing on unmet needs.
• Ability to work in a multinational, multidisciplinary, and fast-growing environment.
