    Beef Plant Retail Supervisor - Thika Processing plant

    Key Responsibility

    • Under the supervision of the Beef Plant Manager, this role is Responsible for overseeing beef primals receiving, processing, storage, Slicing & packaging, and customer order fulfilment in compliance with food safety standards, quality requirements, and standard operating procedures. The role ensures efficient production, team supervision, operational excellence, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

    Key Tasks

    • Supervise daily operations within the beef Retail processing section to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
    • Ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, HACCP, and workplace safety standards across all operational areas.
    • Oversee receiving, inspection, processing, storage, packaging, and dispatch of beef products according to company procedures.
    • Supervise and coordinate production teams, allocating tasks and monitoring productivity and performance.
    • Monitor product quality, portioning, trimming, packaging, labelling, and storage to ensure consistency and compliance with specifications.
    • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of processing equipment and promptly report faults or breakdowns.
    • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging materials, and production supplies to avoid shortages or wastage.
    • Ensure proper stock rotation and storage practices, including FIFO (First In, First Out), to minimize spoilage and waste.

    • Conduct routine inspections to ensure products meet quality and food safety standards before release.
    • Train, coach, and mentor team members on SOPs, food safety, hygiene, equipment handling, and operational best practices.
    • Prepare production schedules and ensure staffing and materials are available for smooth operations.
    • Address operational challenges, resolve team issues, and escalate major concerns to management where necessary.
    • Maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records and prepare operational reports as required.
    • Enforce compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and security procedures.

    We are looking for someone who has:

    • Certificate/Diploma in Meat Processing, Food Science, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in meat processing or food manufacturing, including supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of beef processing, food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and team supervision skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and reporting systems.
    • Understanding of inventory control and FIFO practices.
    • Good problem-solving and operational planning skills.

    Beef Plant Production Manager - Thika Processing Plant

    Key Responsibility

    • Under the supervision of the Factory Manager, this role is responsible for managing all aspects of Beef production operations and ensuring production objectives are achieved at the highest level of productivity and most cost-effective way while adhering to set quality standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

    Key Tasks

    • Participate in the crafting of departmental goals aligned to the overall corporate strategy and monitoring performance through the development of departmental KPIs.
    • Coordinates the direct end to end processing of beef products according to set standards.
    • Reviewing the weekly, daily production plan and monitoring the execution process and the productivity per line per SKU to ensure production targets are met.
    • Prepare annual budgets, allocate labor and other resources, and coordinate production shifts to meet targets. Ensure Factory cost is within the Budget.
    • Ensure sales order fulfillment through matching production quantities to customer orders..
    • Protect company assets and oversee efficient use of resources by managing the factory equipment and machine at the Beef Plant.
    • Monitor performance and capacity utilization and follow up on repairs and maintenance.
    • Coordinate and liaise with the food safety team leader on audit plans and inspections, follow up on all issues raised in audits and inspection reports and resolve them.
    • Receive customer feedback, conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective action as needed to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Implement Kaizen initiatives in the Beef Plant.
    • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, standards (Food safety standards) and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead, manage and develop a high performing team.

    We are looking for someone who has:

    • A bachelor's degree in food science and technology and any other relevant degree from an accredited institution.
    • A minimum of 6 years' work experience in food processing; 4 of which are in management role specifically in meat processing.
    • Experience in managing teams
    • Demonstrable commercial awareness.
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience in using ERP systems is desirable.
