    Legal Officer (Re-Advertisement)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    The jobholder is responsible for ensuring that legal claims are processed and responded to within the set timelines to avoid company being exposed. Preparation of legal statistics and Review Company terms of contract before commitment.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Legal advice and Litigation Management

    1. Negotiate settlement of court awards with third party advocates
    2. Offer all round sound legal advice with key focus on cost savings and customer satisfaction
    3. Reduce overall legal costs by containing of matters in-house through out of court negotiations
    4. Minimize legal risks – Identify potential legal risks & take steps to protect the company from legal liabilities
    5. Manage panel Advocates and other service providers by holding them accountable to Service Level Agreements
    6. Eliminate proclamations and/or attachments against our insured
    7. Assisting in legal research and preparing legal opinions to both external and internal client
    8. Review and draft claims contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure they follow all statutory or legal requirements
    9. Renegotiate advocates fees in line with the Advocates remuneration order
    10. Analyze claims based on evidence adduced and contents of investigations report and recommend the ones suitable for out of court negotiations and settlements

    Legal Matters Documentation

    1. To receive and process summons filed against insured by the company
    2. To receive and requisition for advocate’s fee notes
    3. Process judgments entered against the insured and document all proceedings
    4. Any other duty assigned from time to time

    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    1. Internal Contacts: Finance Department, Underwriting Department, Branch Offices
    2. External Contacts: Service providers, third party advocates auctioneers, claimants and insured. 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. Bachelor of Law LLB
    2. Diploma from Kenya School of Law
    3. Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
    4. Three (3) years relevant working experience

    Underwriter (Meru & Eldoret)

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    The job holder is responsible for review of risks and underwrite profitable business through preparation of policy documents whilst ensuring all business processes are adhered to as per set guidelines to enable the company meets its objectives through the acquisition, retention, and service to clients.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Underwriting

    1. Establish proper documentation of risks and timely issuance of certificates, debits, policy documents and endorsements
    2. Establish efficient renewal process to achieve the set turnaround time for preparation and issuance of renewal notices for delivery of the desired retention rate
    3. Issuing and revising of quotes to intermediaries within recommended guidelines and follow up to ensure business closure
    4. Reconciliation of client accounts to reflect the business booked status on monthly basis
    5. Preparation and issuance of Renewal notices sixty dates before renewal date
    6. Check debt form filled in case of credit according to the company credit policy
    7. Prepare and issue cancellation notices in case of non-payment of premium for specified covers
    8. Provide advisory services to claims department on excesses, deductibles, and clauses applicable in case of a claim
    9. Confirmation of covers, issue and approve quotations up to 50% of the treaty limit
    10. Appoint property & vehicle valuers where necessary
    11. Issue motor new business policy documents and renewal schedules
    12. Execute bonds as per the set authority limits
    13. Monitor approval and dispatch of renewal and extra endorsements schedules

    Customer Service

    1. Monitoring clients queries and ensuring they are addressed, and correct quotation are provided within the set timelines and authority levels
    2. Follow up on premium collection from clients and ensure debited within the month
    3. Prepare and follow up premium refund in case of overpayment or cancellation from clients
    4. On a need basis carry out client visit with intermediaries for technical support and product presentation.

    Internal Contacts: Finance/ Claims / Business Development Departments among others

    External Contacts: Intermediaries-Brokers, Independent agents, and Banks

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business/Economics from a recognized University
    2. Diploma in Insurance and a Member of a relevant professional body
    3. Three (3) years relevant working experience

    Business Development Executive – Faith Based

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    The jobholder is primarily responsible for identifying sales leads, pitch services and maintain good relationship with customers to facilitate achievement of the set budgets set out in accordance with the Service Level Agreement aligned to the strategic objective of the specific channel. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work to ensure the distribution channel executes the mandate as per the faith-based strategy with a duty to:

    1. Contacting potential clients to establish relationships and sales that are faith-based affiliated
    2. Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives targeted towards faith
    3. Researching trends and creating new opportunities to increase sales
    4. Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones
    5. Finding and developing new markets and improving sales
    6. Organizing and Attending Client conferences, meetings, and industry events
    7. Developing quotes and proposals for clients
    8. Developing goals for the development team and business growth and ensuring they are met
    9. Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills
    10. Develop an annual calendar of marketing activities targeting faith groups
    11. Establish a joint data base for all faith affiliated business for existing clients
    12. Collect data for all faith-based business and valuations done for uninsured and under insured business and follow up for closure for new business and organic growth
    13. Map and allocate resources to penetrate all regions with business potential countrywide
    14. Identify, target, and penetrate niche markets and create awareness of Pacis products within the niche market
    15. Enhance Pacis product training to the marketing team by organizing regular trainings to the various faith groups
    16. Collect market intelligence from the competition and compile such information to management
    17. Create and build the Pacis brand within the niche/affiliated institutions to enhance market awareness

    NATURE AND SCOPE:

    1. Internal Contacts: Departmental heads, members of staff and various intermediaries
    2. External Contacts: Business partners, service providers and clients

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business Administration
    2. Training in intermediary management is an added advantage
    3. Diploma in Marketing
    4. Diploma in Insurance
    5. Five (5) years’ experience in an insurance or other financial services organization
    6. Sound knowledge of the insurance market and products
