    Strategic Investments Principal

    Role: Strategic Investments Principal, reporting to the Global CFO/CEO

    We’re looking for an exceptional strategist who is excited to unlock the informal economy’s potential and inspired by our mission to empower the local merchants responsible for over $600 billion of sales across Africa every year. You will take ownership of the company’s operating and financial strategy and lead all quantitative analyses of current operations while evaluating the return on investment of all new opportunities. You have extensive experience analyzing business fundamentals and building out financial models to project business performance accurately. You are a proven leader who thinks innovatively and makes decisions using data.

    You will build out the materials required to support Sokowatch’s strategy and reporting to current and potential investors while evaluating the return on investment of new opportunities. You have extensive experience analyzing business fundamentals and conducting research to evaluate the best market opportunities.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Oversee seamless operating system for analyzing, monitoring, and projecting business performance to produce historical, present, and forecasted financial reports
    • Present to the Global CEO/CFO, board, and investors the growth outlook and drivers of the business
    • Analyze potential initiatives to maximize return and meet Sokowatch’s overall strategic goals
    • Continuously monitor team performance to ensure the entire company is working in line with agreed strategies and priorities
    • Recommend best practices based on experience, research, frameworks, design patterns, and visionary thinking
    • Support capital raising initiatives in conjunction with the Global CEO/CFO across venture capital, debt, and other sources of financing


    The successful candidate will possess:

    • 4+ years overall experience in high performing operating and investing roles, including:
    • 2+ years experience in investment banking, venture capital, or private equity investing; focus on technology investing in emerging markets strongly preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience working with a high growth startup
    • Bachelor’s degree, MBA is a plus.
    • Extensive business and financial modeling skills
    • Experience in project management, monitoring, and evaluation
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills
    • Excellent communication skills

    Territory Sales Manager - Soko fresh

    Role: Territory Sales Manager reporting to the Global Head of Special Projects

    The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for driving soko fresh revenue growth and profit margins. The key primary responsibility for this role will be to execute and inform Sokowatch’s fresh customer growth strategy. The person in charge will also build and manage a Growth team and lead all customer-facing functions including but not limited to, acquisition, engagement/ retention, and growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execute Soko fresh growth plan, growth programs, and optimize our revenue funnel.
    • Execute a robust, agile, and effective Route to Market strategy to reach and serve all fresh customers within their territory.
    • Drive the execution and enhancement of the Sokowatch Customer Experience;
    • Maintain a deep understanding of market structure changes (eg. pricing, new entrants, new products, new technologies);
    • Acquire new customers within the designated territory and ensuring retention of existing customers;
    • Ensure customer order and replenishment cycles are clearly defined, maintained, and adhered to.
    • Increase the Sokowatch Customer App adoption and within the covered customers
    • Increase and maintain product weight, range, and availability in all stores within the coverage
    • Supervise, Coach, Train, and Motivate the sales agents performance in relation to the targets set and build a winning spirit within the team
    • Gather and provide competitive information by regularly tracking competitor activities within the industry.
    • Using market insights to maximize sales effectiveness and efficiency
    • Curate customer insight, by blending data with a deep understanding of user needs, habits, and perceptions.


    • 3.5+ years of experience in sales and marketing, business development, customer service, or related field with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
    • Previous experience in handling fresh agricultural products will be a desired attribute
    • Ability to lead diverse teams, and provide data-based reporting and quantitative intuition for interpreting user experience data
    • Ability to analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into numbers and solutions
    • Have a customer-centered mindset

    Sales Representatives for General Trade (Mombasa)

    Your role as a Sales Representative is to provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer in order to boost revenue growth, customer acquisition levels, and profitability.You will support customer growth by fostering the company values and purpose while providing exemplary customer experience that leads to revenue growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage dukas by supporting them throughout the sales process from order placement to delivery.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • 2 years of experience in retail sales
    • Bachelor in Sales and Marketing or Diploma in a related field
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to build relationships
    • Proven track record in FMCG sales
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to develop in-depth knowledge about products and markets
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision
    • Good business sense and professional manner.
