    Procurement Specialist-China

    Description

    • The Procurement Specialist- China, will be responsible for managing all sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities from China to Rendeavour’s operations across Africa. The role will identify and negotiate with reliable Chinese suppliers, oversee quality assurance, manage logistics and export processes, and ensure timely delivery of goods to Africa in alignment with project requirements, cost efficiency, and compliance with Rendeavour’s policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sourcing & Supplier Management

    • Identify, prequalify, and manage a pool of reliable suppliers and manufacturers in China.
    • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and high quality.
    • Conduct factory visits, supplier audits, and due diligence to ensure compliance with quality and ethical standards.
    • Build long-term supplier relationships to support scalability of Rendeavour’s Africa operations.

    Procurement & Contracting

    • Manage end-to-end procurement of goods (construction materials, equipment, tools, IT, marketing items, and other operational needs).
    • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate bids, and draft supplier contracts.
    • Track orders from placement to shipment, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and timelines.
    • Maintain accurate procurement records for audit and reporting.

    Logistics & Export Coordination

    • Oversee shipping, customs clearance, and logistics for goods from China to various African destinations.
    • Work with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and clearing firms to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries.
    • Monitor Incoterms (FOB, CIF, EXW, etc.) and ensure correct documentation for exports.
    • Proactively manage risks such as delays, quality issues, or regulatory compliance challenges.

    Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Coordinate closely with Rendeavour’s Africa procurement teams to align China sourcing with project demand forecasts.
    • Provide updates on order status, market trends, and supplier performance to the Group Head of Procurement.
    • Support Finance with documentation required for payments and reconciliations.
    • Engage with project, construction, marketing, and farm teams to anticipate demand.

    Governance & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with Rendeavour’s procurement policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
    • Adhere to international trade regulations, export laws, and customs requirements.
    • Drive sustainability, ethical sourcing, and ESG compliance in the China supply chain.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Engineering, or related field.
    • Fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in procurement and international sourcing, with at least 3–5 years in China-Africa trade.
    • Strong knowledge of Chinese supplier markets, export procedures, and African import requirements.
    • Professional certification (CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent) is an advantage.
    • Experience with ERP/procurement systems and supply chain analytics.

    Community Relations Manager

    Description

    • The Community Relations Manager will lead and coordinate all community engagement, stakeholder management, and support social impact initiatives for Tatu City Limited while overseeing the Tatu City Labour Desk and local workforce development programs. The role is responsible for fostering positive relationships between the company and surrounding communities, local administration, public institutions, residents, and other strategic stakeholders to support harmonious coexistence and sustainable development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement community engagement strategies aligned with the company’s vision and operational objectives.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, residents’ associations, county government representatives, chiefs, youth groups, schools, and community-based organizations.
    • Act as the primary liaison between Tatu City Limited and surrounding communities.
    • Coordinate regular stakeholder forums, barazas, sensitization meetings, and engagement sessions.
    • Monitor community sentiment and provide timely feedback to management on emerging issues, risks, and opportunities.
    • Support with developing and overseeing CSR initiatives that create meaningful social impact and align with the company’s sustainability agenda in partnership with the CSR Officer.
    • Receive, investigate, and manage community complaints and grievances professionally and promptly.
    • Lead conflict resolution initiatives and mediation efforts between the company and community stakeholders.
    • Develop grievance management mechanisms and escalation procedures.
    • Ensure all community-related incidents are documented and resolved within agreed timelines.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on community engagement activities, risks, trends, and impact metrics.
    • Provide strategic oversight and operational supervision of the Tatu City Labour Desk and its administration functions.
    • Supervise and support the Labour Desk Administrator to ensure efficient and professional service delivery.
    • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and maintenance of databases for all registered skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled community labourers.
    • Oversee tracking of employed and unemployed individuals registered through the Labour Desk.
    • Ensure regular labour market and skills needs analyses are conducted with contractors to identify workforce requirements and align these with training initiatives.
    • Oversee implementation and coordination of the Tatu City Training Academy and associated curricula to support local workforce development.
    • Monitor and track graduate placement outcomes and employment uptake within Tatu City projects and contractors.
    • Ensure contractors comply with local labour employment obligations and community hiring commitments as stipulated in contractual agreements.
    • Oversee management and coordination of casual labour requirements across projects and operational areas.
    • Manage community expectations regarding employment opportunities, recruitment processes, and training programs.
    • Support planning and execution of community engagement activities, recruitment drives, training forums, and labour-related events.
    • Develop labour desk performance reports, workforce statistics, and community employment impact updates for management review.
    • Ensure the Labour Desk operates in compliance with company policies, labour regulations, and stakeholder engagement commitments.

    Requirements

    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Human Resource Management, Communications, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, labour coordination.
    • Strong understanding of community engagement, labour coordination, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management.

    Material Engineer

    Position Overview

    • Tatu City is seeking to hire a Material Engineer who will report to the Project Manager and will be tasked with overseeing material specifications, procurement, and compliance with design and architectural standards. The role involves identifying and pre‑qualifying premium suppliers across global markets, managing catalogues and sample presentations, and ensuring quality assurance through testing, inspections, and lifecycle assessments. In addition, the Material Engineer will align material delivery with project schedules and drive value engineering by recommending sustainable, cost‑effective alternatives without compromising design intent.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Material Specification & Procurement:

    • Review, analyze, and approve high-end material specifications, technical datasheets, and test reports to ensure full compliance with project design requirements and structural/architectural standards.
    • Leverage extensive knowledge of construction material markets in the Middle East, China, India, North Africa, and East Africa to identify optimal suppliers and premium manufacturers.
    • Evaluate and pre-qualify material suppliers, acting as the primary technical point of contact during the procurement, submittal, and factory-inspection processes.

    Catalogue, Sample Management & Presentation:

    • Lead the preparation, curation, and presentation of comprehensive material catalogues, mood boards, and physical sample boards for consultant review and executive management approval.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, convincing technical and commercial presentations to senior management, consultants, and stakeholders to facilitate swift material selection.

    Quality Assurance & Lifecycle Assessment:

    • Oversee material testing protocols, ensure that all materials delivered to the site match the approved samples exactly, and assess long-term durability for luxury finishes.
    • Track production lead times and shipping logistics to ensure material delivery seamlessly aligns with the master construction schedule.
    • Proactively drive value engineering by identifying alternative premium materials that optimize project costs and sustainability without compromising the architectural design intent.

    Requirements

    Skills and experience:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering is required. An MBA is considered a strong advantage.
    • Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience as a Material Engineer in the large-scale construction field, with a proven portfolio of work on high-end or luxury real estate developments.
    • Market Expertise: Established networks and direct procurement experience within the construction material markets of the Middle East, China, India, North Africa, and East Africa.
    • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of material specifications, datasheets, industry standards (e.g., British Standards, Eurocodes), and manufacturing processes.
    • BIM Experience: General awareness and functional understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) environments is an advantage.
