    Project Coordinator

    DCA is seeking to recruit an experienced and energetic Kenyan National for the following position: Project Coordinator Youth Empowerment – AjiraPoa! Project: The position is based in Nakuru, with frequent field travel within Nakuru and to Nyandarua and West Pokot Counties and reports to the Area Programme Manager (APM) based in Nakuru.

    The main responsibilities of the PO are:

    1. Manage all the DCA direct implemented youth empowerment and job creation initiatives and activities of the project. This includes the DCA self-implemented components in Nakuru and Nyandarua counties and partner led actions in West Pokot County
    2. Facilitate DCA initiated innovation initiatives at the field level in close consultations with the APM, Head of Programme (HoP) and DCA consortium partners. These will include private sector & academic partners and related innovation incubation and prototyping to enhance youth economic and well-being outcomes.
    3. Support the day to day implementation of DCA and partner staff project interventions at the field level. This entails development and execution of detailed implementation plans, having a teaching and facilitative role, staff supervision as well as monitoring and evaluation of the project.
    4. Network and coordinate with other field operational I/NGOs, UN Agencies and County Government and explore/advise on possible areas of collaboration/partnerships to enhance program synergy.
    5. Facilitate, support and initiate digitised baseline, monitoring and evaluation data collection and other assessments and generate relevant reports as well as support concept paper development at the field level as part of DCA fundraising efforts.
    6. Facilitate/support collaboration and cross learning among DCA projects & partners through information sharing, exposure visits and active partner participation in DCA platforms/forums.
    7. Facilitate logistical arrangements for DCA staff, consultant field visits and donor visits in consultation with the Manager – Nakuru Sub Office.
    8. Perform any other responsibilities as determined and assigned by the APM from time to time.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • University level education in business, development studies, social sciences or any other relevant academic qualification.
    • Technical and demonstratable skills and hands on experience in youth empowerment (including aspects of enterprise development, job creation and placement services), financial inclusion work, agri-business support, organisational capacity development and intensive lobbying and advocacy aimed at employment/employability policies.
    • Having graduated from a TVET institution or working within a TVET institution; deep knowledge on curriculum development and engagement with TVET institutions are an added advantage.
    • Experience cultivating and managing engagement with private sector actors.
    • Good interpersonal skills and a proven team player. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to support teams remotely. Self-driven and results orientated in challenging rural working environments.
    • Experience in training at field/community level and excellent reporting skills. Excellence in English, oral and written.

    Micro-Insurance Research Assistant

    DCA is seeking to recruit an experienced and energetic Kenyan National for the following position: Micro-Insurance Research Assitant; The position is based in Nakuru County, and reports to the Area Program Manager.

    The main responsibilities of the Research Assitant – MicroInsurance:

    1. Lead in undertaking detailed research analysis work to establish an in-depth understanding of the potential market for comprehensive microinsurance (health, life, crops, livestock, fire etc.) insurance products.
    2. Research on, establish and maintain strong linkages with key institutional sources of expertise on micro-insurance.
    3. Assess the policy, legal and regulatory framework to identify any potential gaps in deployment and adoption of microinsurance in Kenya.
    4. Assist in the documentation of the micro-insurance landscape in Kenya, possible results, impact, best practices, and significant changes. Document learnings and best practices; disseminate learnings, reports, publications and participate in learning sessions, and ensuring that the lessons learnt are utilized to inform contextualisation, integration and roll-out of micro-insurance into DCA programming

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Relevant qualifications in social sciences (bachelors degree in economics, banking, insurance and other related studies). Postgraduate Students from reputable insitutions in Kenya are highly encouraged to apply.
    • Should have thorough knowledge and experience from the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the Insurance sector
    • Should have strong analytical skills with demonstratable skills in qualititative and quantitative research and communication
    • Strong skills in data analysis, both qualitative and quantitative data analysis with software such as MS-Excel, R, Stata, NVIVO and other data management software – is an added advantage.
    • Strong presentation/speaking skills and ability to build strong professional relationships
    • Demonstrated ability in community mobilisation and community-level dialogue.

    Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant

    DCA is seeking to recruit a dynamic and proactive Kenyan National for the following position: MEAL Asistant – Ajira Poa! Project. The position is based in Nakuru County, and reports to the Programme Officer – Design, Monitoring, Evaluation & Partnerships (DMEP).

    The main responsibilities of the MEAL Assistant:

    1. Lead the development of systems and processes for the implementation of the project MEAL frameworks. Support efforts. to build the capacity of project staff, partners and other relevant stakeholders on implementation of MEAL actions. 
    2. Maintain an updated Indicator Performance Tracker (IPT) for all DCA projects in areas of jurisdiction. Including maintanance of an agile and accessible secure physical and digital filing system and project database.
    3. Lead the documentation of project results, impact, best practices and significant changes. Document learning and best practices; disseminate learnings, reports, publications and participate in learning sessions, and ensuring that the lessons learnt are utilized to inform programming and advocacy.
    4. Using advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis methods generate datasets, assessments, and reports analysis to support project staff in generating high quality reports for various audiences.
    5. Ensure that each of DCA’s projects has a functional complaint and feedback handling system.
    6. Collect and manage complaints and feedback in close coordination with Project team. Track timeliness of response to complaints and maintain an updated project complaints tracker.


    Professional Qualifications:

    • Required: technical level education in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Project Management or other relevant field required. Master’s Degree preferred. Desired: experience with data management visualization software; certification in project management or MEAL related technical course.
    • A minimum of three years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably with INGOs.
    • Experience in Digital Data Collection software such as Kobo, ODK, Magpi, Commcare etc.
    • Strong skills in data analysis, both qualitative and quantitative data analysis with software such as MS-Excel, R, Stata, NVIVO and other data management software.
    • Demonstrated ability in community mobilisation and community-level dialogue.

    Youth Empowerment & Career Centre Coordinators (Two Positions)

    DCA is seeking to recruit an experienced and energetic Kenyan National for the following position: Youth Center Empowerment & Career Centre Coordinators – AjiraPoa! Project (2 positions). One position will be based in Nakuru County and one in Nyandarua County, with both and reporting to the Project Cordinator – Youth Empowerment – Ajira Poa! Project.

    The main responsibilities of the Youth Empowerment & Career Centre Coordinators are:

    1. Drive the implementation of youth empowerment initiatives that enhance access to gainful and self-employment through training and accompaniment of trainees.
    2. Manage the day to day implementation of the project at the County Training/Engagement sites; this entails development of detailed implementation plans, having a teaching and facilitative role, as well as monitoring, evaluation and learning aspects.
    3. Support in generation of timely and high-quality project progress reports as per DCA and donor requirements; as well as regular updates on project progress and suggested adaptations. 
    4. Manage and facilitate DCA partnership building initiatives relevant to Project objectives at field level in close consultations with the Project Coordinator. This includes operational partnerships with either the County Government of Nakuru or Nyandarua, consortia partners, other relevant I/NGO’s, County Governments and – particularly – private sector actors
    5. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.


    Professional Qualifications:

    • Technical level education in business development, entrepreneurship, ICT or any other relevant academic qualification.
    • Technical and demonstratable skills and hands on experience in youth empowerment projects including employment and job creation initiatives, financial inclusion work, agri-business support and organisational capacity development.
    • Having graduated from a TVET institution or working within a TVET institution is an added advantage.
    • Experience engaging with and bringing together different stakeholders – government, private sector and social enterprise – for strategic collaboration.
    • Adaptable and flexible approach, with capacity to innovate and identify new opportunities to contribute to project outcomes.
    • Good interpersonal skills and a proven team player. Self-driven and results orientated in challenging rural working environments.
    • Experience in training at field/community level and excellent reporting skills. Excellence in English, oral and written.
    • Desirable: valid motorcycle license or willing to take lessons and obtain the same
