Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Services, FKE seeks to recruit a short-term Legal Research Assistant who will assist in Bills Tracking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track the legislative calendars at the Executive level, National Assembly, Senate and County levels to identify all upcoming matters on Employment and Labour Relations
- Provide reports and summaries on upcoming Employment and Labour Relations matters
- Conduct legal research and prepare internal briefings on matters relating to labour laws and social policy
- Provide support in drafting of memorandums
- Track the status of various bills and maintain an updated tracker report
- Provide research support in other Employment, Legal, Policy matters within the Federation
- Draft correspondence

Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Industrial Relations, the Industrial Relations Officers will be responsible for assisting members in matters of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations, legal consultations, trainings and conciliation of disputes at the Ministry of Labour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Chair CBA negotiations meetings between Employers and the Unions and act as secretary
- Prepare CBAs and ensure that they are registered
- Advise employers in all Labour related issues i.e. obligations and rights of employers
- Assist members in resolving strike situations and initiating injunctive procedures in court as necessary
- Represent employers in the Employment and Labour Relations Court
- Represent members in conciliations/ trade disputes
- Represent FKE in social dialogue meetings
- Prepare training materials in Industrial Relations and execute the training
- Facilitate various Association Meetings and act as the secretary
- Assist in collecting subscriptions and other FKE debts from members
- Represent FKE in various meetings as assigned
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, HR or a related Social Science field.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations
- Current member of the IHRM
- 5 years’ progressive experience in HR, Labour and Industrial Relations with specific practice in collective bargaining and grievance resolution. A legal background and experience will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with Trade Unions and handle disputes, grievances and discipline issues
- Ability to negotiate, conclude and prepare Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)

Job Description:
Reporting to the Head of Industrial Relations, Legal & Membership Services, the Senior Industrial Relations Officers will be responsible for protecting employers’ interests through CBA negotiations, court representation and consultations geared to maintaining industrial peace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- In charge of all CBAs negotiated and advising officers, unions & the employers on how to manage them
- Advise officers on how to deal with strikes and liaising with unions and the Ministry of Labour for the quick settlement of strikes
- Advise officers on how to settle trade disputes and assigning them duties of the settlement of the disputes
- Advise officers on how to carry out Associations Meetings and Negotiations and making sure that all the affairs of the associations are run smoothly
- Coordinate operations related to Industrial Relations policy working groups
- Assign officers to handle conciliation meetings and directing consultation meetings to the officers
- Develop Industrial Relations training materials and support the Training Department to provide training activities
- Developing and reviewing Industrial Relations policies, procedures and guidelines
- Representing Employers at the Employment and Labour Relations Court
- Representing FKE in tripartite and other assigned forums on Employment and Labour Relations matters
- Recruitment of new members
- Supervision, management, mentorship and coaching of staff in the department
- Perform administrative departmental functions including planning, coordinating, budgeting and reporting
- Perform other duties as required
