    College Principal

    Reports To: Hospital Administrator

    Our Lady of Lourdes Mutomo College of Health Sciences is seeking to fill the above position

    Reporting to the Our Lady of Lourdes Mutomo Hospital Administrator, the successful candidate’s main responsibilities will be to:

    •  Effectively manage the day to day running of the College
    • Spearhead continuous development and improvement of the college curriculum and the learning environment to enhance performance and steer the institution to excellence.
    • Liaise with the various Hospital Sections and other approved Health Care facilities in arranging clinical placement for students.
    • Arrange tutorial and teaching blocks in line with the Nursing Council/TVETA standards and ensure the teaching staff meet their objectives.
    • Efficiently use and manage resources and expenditure within budgetary allocations.
    • Facilitate a conducive learning environment with high levels of discipline, moral values and excellence.
    • Provide leadership, guidance and counseling to students, teaching and support staff while fostering and maintaining clear vision for the future of the college
    • Ensure that the college meets the provision of its’ Strategic Plan

    Minimum Qualifications, Technical Skills and work Experience

    • A Bachelor of Medical Education /Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/ OR other relevant degree from a recognized university
    • At least three (3) years of experience as College Principal/Deputy Principal OR 5 years of experience as Head of Department in a healthcare institution of learning
    • Proven leadership, administrative, communication and decision - making skills
    • High degree of professionalism, integrity, accountability and moral values.

    Nurse (Midwife)

    Reports To: Ward In Charge

    Job Purpose: To asses, diagnose, monitor and manage maternal and fetal conditions (normal and abnormal) in order to prevent maternal / fetal complications aimed at ensuring sate Motherhood.

    Duties and responsibilities                                                                                                                

    • Asses all mothers who come to maternity for early detection of any abnormality.
    • Proper diagnosis of Maternal and fetal conditions in order to prevent morbidity and mortality.
    • To close monitor the progress of labor to detect complications early.
    • To manage mothers in labor to ensure safe Motherhood.
    • To ensure proper infection control to prevent cross infection.
    • Proper management of Pre and Post caesarian sectioned mothers to ensure recovery and avoid complications.
    • Supervises subordinates and students to ensure proper management of resources.
    • Controls flow of clinical resources to ensure sustainability

    Qualifications and skills

    • KRCHN
    • Minimum of 1 year working experience in a similar position
    • A person who can work under pressure
    • Warm and friendly
    • Computer literate
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills: fluent in both English and Kiswahili
    • A good team player
    • Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Planning skills.

    Hospital Matron

    Reports To: Hospital Administrator

    Location: Mutomo – Kitui South.

    Our Lady of Lourdes is seeking to fill the above position.

    Reporting to the Hospital Administrator, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the nursing team and paramedics within the hospital to ensure better service delivery and better customer care.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure efficient and effective management of all affairs of the nursing department to enable better performance.
    2.  Overall leadership of the nursing department with good management, leadership skills and administrative skills to avoid any arising issues.
    3. Development, coordination, and execution of continuous evaluation of nursing service objectives, policies, and procedures to maintain continuity of quality nursing care.
    4. Ensuring consistency and continuity of high nursing quality care, upholding of highest professional standards and excellent customer service.
    5.  Ensuring that the patients are safe in the hospital and have access to the right medical care and other hospital facilities.
    6. Offer the best insights to the management on how they can improve the quality of care in the facility.
    7. Work closely with the hospital management to ensure the smooth running of the hospital.
    8. Work closely with the collage principal to ensure follow ups and management of students during rotations in the hospital.

    Qualifications:

    1. KRCHN / KRN and Midwifery.
    2. Higher Diploma in Nursing will be an added advantage.
    3. 5 years’ experience in senior management.
    4. Dedication and excellence at work
    5. Proven leadership qualities with strong team work and excellent communication skills.
    6. Administrative skills
    7. Experience in a teaching hospital.
