    Evergreen Requisition – Interaction Designer

    The Interaction Designer will primarily be responsible for translating user research into user requirements, strongly advocating for the user throughout the design and development process and creating, improving and owning the experience of the users.

    Deliverables expected from an interaction designer include but are not limited to wireframes, user journeys, experience maps, storyboards, concepts, proto-personas and personas, stakeholder maps, scenarios and contextual inquiry models.

    The Roles Of An Interaction Designer Include

    • Translating research insights into product/feature requirements and/or design recommendations
    • Clearly articulating user challenges and user needs through use of storyboards, user journeys, experience maps and other UX models
    • Usability and user experience testing
    • Creating the interactive layout of products and concepts
    • Conducting design sprints
    • Testing and analysing recently released products/features to identify potential areas of improvement
    • Staying abreast of UX trends and looking for creative ideas and inspiration
    • Developing interactive reporting dashboards and different types of visualizations
    • Creating rapid prototypes to validate design concepts with stakeholders
    • Establishing design principles + UX direction for designers and engineers
    • Communicating with product managers, engineers, designers and the team at large to ensure that user needs and requirements are considered throughout development.
       

    Experience Requirements

    • Field, remote and lab testing, heuristic evaluation, A/B testing, prototyping, UX model creation, information architecture and design, excellent verbal and written communication, deep understanding of information design and user psychology, 2 to 5 years’ experience as an interaction/UX designer.
       

    Academic Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer interaction, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Information Systems, or any related field.

    The User Experience Researcher will primarily be responsible for designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting on user-centered design research, including identification of user needs and goals, insights generation and publication, task and workflow modeling, ethnography and persona development as well as rapid iterative usability testing, and more formal, in-depth testing. A successful User Experience Researcher must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects. Some deliverables we expect from the User Experience Researcher include hypotheses, hunt statements, research summaries, competitive analyses, literature reviews, information articles and academic publications.

    The User Experience Researcher Must Be Proficient In

    • Conducting usability research both online and in the field
    • Generating research insights and design recommendations
    • Serve as a 'repository' of research-based usability knowledge
    • Working with project business representatives and team members to test business and user requirements using heuristic/qualitative methods.
    • Determining user needs by conducting task-focused analyses
    • Working with aesthetic designers to the user interface and interactions of our products
    • Coordinate, plan, conduct and moderate lab, field and remote usability testing
    • User research methods and selection for particular research projects
    • Academic publication and presentations

    Experience Requirements

    • Usability moderating, participant recruiting/screener creation, statistical/qualitative/quantitative analysis, report writing and presentations (verbal and written), research plan creation, data analysis and synthesis, academic publication and presentations.

    Academic Requirements

    • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
    • Three or more years of experience and proven record of accomplishment.

    We are pleased to announce the following Position in the Digital IT Department within the Technology Division.   In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Role DESCRIPTION

    Reporting to the Business Engagement Manager, the role will be the liaison between business system users and the technical team in as far as creating automated business solutions is concerned. The role holder will also be responsible for gathering, detailing and documenting business requirements in a format that is useful to business end users and technical developers. Propose ways in which the existing processes and systems can be used or changed to meet new business requirements as well as identify internal systems integrations needed to meet business requirements.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Carry out full business requirements discovery that includes interviewing relevant stakeholders and end-users.
    • Collect, classify, analyze and document business requirements as per set standards.
    • Create high-level solution designs to meet business requirements by exploiting the functionality available in IT systems already in Safaricom, or by filling missing gaps with appropriate new systems, in accordance with enterprise architecture.
    • Lead a project team composed of designers and developers to drive the business needs and expectations by ensuring business intent is understood and delivered by IT.
    • Collaboratively develop test-driven business requirements and functional specifications with business, technical, and testing team members.
    • Participate in technical/functional evaluation of bids for new systems.
    • Ensure sensible consensus is reached for all requirements/specifications and help business, IT, and test leads to have the same mutual understanding thereof.
    • Generate process documentation that clarifies and validates how the organization utilizes business systems to meet business requirements
    • Liaise with other sections/departments in the delivery of services and projects as well as maintain good working relations between the Squad & Tribe team and all stakeholders.
    • Provide support to the Business Unit by assisting in the development/reviewing/translating of User Requirement Specifications into a baseline BRD(Business Requirements Document) and building design documents (FDD, SDD).
    • Promote proper release planning, guaranteeing adherence to business needs and priorities and as a consequence, contribute to the reduction of development costs in future.
    • Follow a prioritization process that is transparent and understandable for all parties involved.
    • Participate in innovation to improve delivered products and services and to explore new technologies and their applications to the enterprise space.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or Business Information Technology or in a relevant field
    • At least 3 years’ work experience as a systems developer/business analyst in a busy IT development environment, 2 years of which must include experience in systems analysis.
    • Professional Experience in Business Analysis (CBAP, IIBA) as well as software development lifecycle is essential, in agile (SAFe, Scrum) and waterfall methodologies.
    • Domain experience in financial services, financial technologies will be an added advantage.
    • Broad technical expertise combined with business acumen and strong consulting skills.
    • Excellent systems analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills along with meeting facilitation skills
    • Experience in writing formal Use Cases and other UML tools
    • Demonstrated experience in producing requirements that support test-driven development.
    • Excellent communication skills - must be able to listen to customers, document requirements quickly & accurately, and review written materials for accuracy. Must also be able to communicate specifications to person’s at all technical levels.
    • Proven track record for delivery of large scale, complex projects delivering IT/Telco customer solutions; demonstrable leadership skills and organizational experience.
    • Ability to communicate and influence others.

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Manager – Core Network Packet Core Planning, the position holder will be responsible for automation, transformation, planning, design and implementation of Core Network Services across Core CS and PS domains.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for planning, designing, developing, deploying, and operating new software, Software Defined Core Network infrastructure and applications
    • Design, deployment and operations of Core network automation and analytics tools.
    • Automation of Core Network Planning processes.
    • Collaborates with other Software Development Engineers and Core Network Engineers in ensuring Core network support for digital services / applications.
    • Undertakes the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
    • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents, standards, open source projects, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
    • Assists with the design process and assists in guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques.
    • Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures that software is delivered on time, to specification.
    • Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if Core Network infrastructure and applications fit specification and technical requirements. Tests and evaluates systems, subsystems, and components.
    • Acts as a technical contact and liaison for outside vendors and/or customers.
    • Presents and defends Core Network architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex Core network issues.
    • Designs and configures Core Network Systems
    • Establishes and maintains Core network performance objectives.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems
    • Generally requires 3-5 years related experience
    • Knowledge  on Core Network Systems
    • Software development & scripting, Programming in Python
    • PS and CS call flows
    • Familiarity with Virtualization & cloud technologies
    • Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; a commitment to excellence.
    • Possess creative ability, credibility, self-confidence and independence.
    • Able to work under pressure, make priority decisions and multi-task.
    • Distributed systems.
