    Group Chief Internal Auditor

    Organisation Background

    Mombasa Maize Millers is a super brand certified Fast Moving Consumer Goods. It is a family owned business that has grown as a result of the high quality of their products.

    Job Summary

    This role is responsible for providing assurance to the group and subsidiary boards on governance, risk and internal controls. The incumbent will be charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive programme for independent, systematic and objective audit reviews as well as pragmatic evaluations of business policies, systems, processes and enterprise Risk Management Framework. The role will be based in Mombasa.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the overall implementation of risk management framework and internal controls as well as governance processes.
    • Review the effectiveness of internal controls and degree of compliance to the Risk Management framework and Quality Management System.
    • Plan, organize and control the internal audit programs as well as providing guidance and direction on the overall audit process. Coordinate and review external audit findings and recommendations.
    • Review and evaluate systems and standard operating procedures, including administrative controls and identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending on the same.
    • Develop and implement the approved Internal Audit Charter for the group;
    • Prepare and implement the approved risk based audit plan by applying appropriate audit techniques and methodologies (including system/tools);
    • Review and monitor the execution of the audit plan through review of working papers and reports in a timely manner with any critical matters being reported immediately;
    • Discuss and agree on findings and recommended action plans (with specified timelines) with the management and present the same at management meetings;
    • Prepare audit board reports and presentations of the same to the respective entity board audit committees;
    • Carry out such other special assignments as may be directed by the Board Audit Committee including investigations/forensic audits;
    • Comply with statutory, regulatory and internal control processes at the business units including internal and external audit recommendations; and
    • Ensure compliance with Management’s policies and procedures.
    • Develop departmental budget and business plans to achieve the set company targets.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance or other related field
    • CFA/CPA/ACCA qualification
    • At least 10 years relevant experience with at least 4 years managerial experience.
    • Proficiency in business systems and applications which include audit software.
    • Good English knowledge, both written and oral
    • Adaptable, socially intelligent and leadership skills.

    Group Chief Financial Officer

    Job Summary
    Our client is a leading miller of maize and wheat in Kenya and a super brand certified FMCG. The company has grown throughout the years as a result of the high quality of their products They distribute their products through the modern trade, general trade and Horeca channels.

    Job Purpose
    The Group Chief Financial Officer reports to the Group CEO and the Board. She/he will be responsible for safeguarding and optimizing utilization of the Group’s financial resources by implementing appropriate financial management systems, policies and practices and overseeing efficient planning, monitoring and control at all Group companies. It will be a performance-based contract.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in the development of the Group’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment between long term financial management strategies and the overall performance goals.
    • Develop and /or streamline Finance management strategies that are in line with organisational objectives, by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and establishing functional objectives.
    • Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities projecting acquisition and expansion prospects.
    • Continuously review and analyse organization operations, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction and systems enhancement.
    • Monitor measure and analyze financial performance results and initiate corrective actions that minimize the impact of variances.
    • Direct the Group Treasury function and ensure the availability of funds to run company operations and the maximization of returns on invested funds.
    • Take responsibility for timely, accurate analysis and reporting of budgets, financial reports and financial trends to aid in decision making.
    • Support the management decision making process by providing strategic financial input.
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts that are in line with operational budgets and monitor working capital levels to ensure that cash commitments can be met.
    • Work closely with external auditors on all Group Company Audits.
    • Responsible for overall performance of the department.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    You will be an assertive and innovative thinker with a strong sense of accountability who has the ability to articulate a clear understanding of the organization’s strategy from all perspectives to manage profitability and find creative solutions to address financial problems. In addition, you will have:

    • Degree in finance or related field.
    • Professional Accountancy Certification (CPA-K and or ACCA)
    • MBA from a recognized institution would be an added advantage
    • At least ten (10) years’ experience in financial management three (3) of which must be in a leadership role within a trading and manufacturing environment
    • Extensive hands on experience in financial planning, strategy development, financial forecasting, corporate finance and developing organizational budget
    • Strategic thinker with good decision making and problem solving skills
    • Strong Leadership, task management, planning and organizational skills
    • Detail-Oriented, efficient and able to multi-task, prioritize, manage and follow projects through to completion
