Job Summary:
The successful candidates will be reporting to the Chair of Department Languages and Literature, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in community service.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach at undergraduate and graduate level in the specific areas of specialization.
- Support and mentor students in their career endeavors.
- Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
- Design e-learning content for online academic programs.
- Participate in program assessment and reviews.
- Supervise students’ research (projects/ thesis/ dissertations) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
- Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience;
To qualify for appointment an applicant must have:
Lecturer
- At least a Master’s degree qualification in Arabic Language from an accredited University;
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a University or equivalent institution of higher learning;
- A minimum of 24 publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least sixteen (16) should be refereed journal papers.
- Been registered by the relevant professional body, where applicable.
Assistant Professor
- An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited University.
- At least 3 years teaching/ research experience at the university level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- A minimum of thirty two (32) publication points a Lecturer/Research Fellow as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014, of which at least twenty four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students to completion as Lecturer/Research Fellow;
- Registered by relevant professional bodies.
- Candidates with previous industry experience in non-profits, grant making organizations and government are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Summary:
The successful candidates will be reporting to the Chair, Department of Psychology. The incumbent will be in charge of the psychology lab and also teach 2 courses at undergraduate level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the psychology laboratory, including resource allocation, scheduling, and use of equipment.
- Oversee psychology laboratory staff, including research assistants, graduate students, and other personnel.
- Maintain psychology laboratory infrastructure, ensuring equipment is up to date and operational.
- Lead and coordinate psychology related research projects, including designing experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results.
- Develop and secure research funding through grant writing and applications.
- Foster a collaborative and productive laboratory environment conducive to innovative research.
- Ensure all research complies with institutional and ethical guidelines such as those set by Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) or Institutional Ethics Review Committee (IERC).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, and ensure laboratory activities follow protocols for working with human subjects.
- Manage the laboratory’s financial resources, including budgeting, ordering supplies, and overseeing expenses.
- Provide teaching and training to students and staff on psychometrics, laboratory protocols, and data analysis techniques using the tools.
- Offer mentorship and professional development opportunities for laboratory members, undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.
- Set long-term goals and objectives for the psychology laboratory’s research direction and success.
- Build partnerships with other departments, organizations, or private sector companies to expand the psychology laboratory's influence and scope of work.
- Oversee the collection, storage, and analysis of data using the psychological assessment tools, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with ethical standards.
- Utilize statistical tools and software such as SPSS among others for advanced data analysis in collaboration with other researchers or statisticians.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Be a Masters holder in psychology field preferably clinical psychology, Counseling Psychology or MFT. A Ph.D will be an added advantage.
- Have extensive knowledge of the psychological assessment tools and experience in administering psychological assessments, with a background in managing a laboratory.
- Have in-depth knowledge of specific psychological fields relevant to the psychology laboratory's focus, including experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
- Have strong leadership and organizational abilities to manage psychology laboratory and coordinate multiple projects.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings, writing grant proposals, and publishing research.
- Balance laboratory management with teaching responsibilities or collaborative research with other departments.
- A certificate in Counselor supervision from a recognized institution;
- Membership to a relevant professional body;
- A registration certificate issued by the Counselor and Psychologist Board.
- A valid practicing license from the counselor and psychologist boards;
- A certificate in psychological Debriefing from a recognized institution; and demonstrate professional managerial capability and a thorough understanding of psychological counseling and wellness and ability to relate it to national development goals.

Job Summary:
To establish a robust coordination mechanism with USIU’s stakeholders to achieve overall effectiveness in fundraising through research and/ or development grants, social investment programs and other non-tuition revenue streams. This role is responsible for identifying suitable funding opportunities to support existing and planned program activities and lead or support the writing and submission of fundable grant proposals to various funding institutions. Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to grant opportunities in areas that support USIU-Africa programs. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the grant income.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and research for fundraising and grants opportunities that match USIU-Africa’s vision, mission and strategy,
- Jointly with faculty and/ or staff, generate high-quality proposals - narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of USIU-Africa, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies,
- Work with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals,
- Ensure clear communication and engagement of USIU-Africa’s current partners and prospects, to facilitate solicitation for grants, donations/ giving, partnerships and sponsorship,
- Maintain active records and archives for all existing funders and keep track of pledges and donations accurately,
- Assist in drafting case statements for fundraising activities and provide institutional information for grant applications,
- Assist in planning, implementing and monitoring fundraising and CSR events with all university stakeholders in accordance with existing university guidelines, and mobilize participation from all actors,
- Provide precise information about ongoing fundraising programmes for sharing in USIU-Africa’s formal communication channels and social media, for sustained donor interest and alumni giving,
- Carry out due diligence on potential fundraising partners to promote compatible and sustainable partnerships, in accordance with existing university guidelines,
- Assist in the liaison roles between USIU-Africa and Kasarani Neighbourhood Association and actively promote USIU Africa’s good repute in Neighbourhood activities,
- Assist in promoting active participation in fundraising by USIU-Africa’s internal stakeholders including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, council, senate and management.
- Maintaining partnerships and networks for donors, alumni and volunteers,
- Planning, implementing and promoting fundraising programs that support USIU’s strategic intent,
- Assist in advancing University Advancement flagship projects and events,
- Supporting growth and service delivery for University CSR programs,
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university, Masters degree is an added advantage
- At least 2 years’ experience in Fundraising/ Grant writing and Event Management
- Grant writing experience, preferably within an education or research institution
