    Resident Dentist

    REF No: TKH/RD/11/21 

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of dental services at the Hospital that will promote patient safety, excellent clinical outcomes and quality, and contribute to the continuing professional development programs of the hospital.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Patient Care and Management
    • Patient consultation
    • Diagnosis of dental diseases and conditions
    • Formulation of a treatment plan
    • Carrying out of the necessary dental procedure
    • Giving oral hygiene instructions and oral health advice
    • Referral of patients to specialist or other department within the hospital
    • Patient counselling through assuring anxious patients about their condition and treatment modalities
    • Keeping accurate records of patients
    • Infection control procedures.
    • Ensuring that all instruments have been taken for sterilization procedure and the correct procedures are being adhered to.
    • Ensuring a smooth flow of operation and availability of dental materials and equipment at all times
    • Management of the Dental Clinic
    • Signing of internal and external requisitions
    • Approving materials ordered/requested.
    • Preparation of the monthly report and any other report required
    • Supervising the dental ancillary personnel i.e. Dental Assistant
    • Ensure that the dental clinics is covered and the relevant specialist
    • Record keeping, Data entry of transactions carried out into the system
    • Monitor that all patients have been charged accurately.
    • Professional Development
    • Maintain and develop own professional competencies and knowledge by attending and participating in continuous education sessions within and externally.
    • Keeping up-to-date with developments in dentistry

    Minimum requirement:

    • Must possess a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a recognized university in Kenya.
    • Must be registered and have a valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council
    • At least Two (2) years post internship experience in a busy Dental clinic.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills and willingness to provide leadership.
    • Self-driven personality, honesty and integrity

    Medical Officer/Branch Manager, Thika

    REF No. TKH/BMO/11/2021

    Overall Purpose:

    Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall leadership and administrative support at The Karen Hospital, Thika Branch.

    The successful candidate will also be responsible for the effective management and care of patients with the aim of ensuring optimal delivery of quality patient care.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Provide high quality care to hospital patients.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication with the Clinical staff, other disciplines and support services.
    • Ensure that equipment used is in good condition and safe for use.
    • Implementation of recommended clinical protocols and national guidelines
    • Act as a role model, exercising leadership and creating a suitable environment for an effective hospital team.
    • Guide and ensure that self and all staff comply with all regulations contained in the Hospital policies and protocols e.g. confidentiality.
    • Conduct daily on-the-job training and assessment for the branch staff to ensure that they are professionally competent in the performance of their duties.
    • Promote the concept of the multi-disciplinary teamwork in order to enhance the quality of medical care within the Karen Hospital.
    • Develop and maintain own professional competence and knowledge by keeping abreast of new developments, concepts, work methods etc. both clinical and professional.
    • To attend clinical meetings, CME’s and hospital committee as may be required from time to time
    • Lead the emergency response team in the event of patient collapse.
    • Deal with accidents, incidents and complaints according to the Karen Hospital policies and procedures.
    • Activate the Major Disaster Plan in the event of an occurrence and maintain key roles until relieved.
    • Comply with the laid down Quality Management Systems (QMS) as per the ISO 9001:2008 guidelines
    • Implement and steer the HIMS (Hospital Information Management System)
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Management from time to time.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognized university in Kenya.
    • Must be registered with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council
    • Must have a valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council
    • At least Two (2) years post internship experience.
    • BLS and ACLS certification is a MUST.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Excellent clinical, management and organizational skills
    • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills and willingness to provide leadership.

    Audit & Compliance Assistant

    REF TKH/AU/11/21

    The jobholder will be responsible for carrying out compliance audits and risk assessments to analyze areas of non-compliance as well as potential risk and make appropriate recommendation. This role will be key in supporting the Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance function in providing assurance on legal, regulatory, statutory, internal controls and compliance to all internal and external requirements. The position holder will report to the Internal Audit Manager.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Responsible for reviewing, assessing and recommending changes in accounting systems and controls of the company
    2. Identify opportunities for business process improvement through leveraging on technology and systems to support the Hospital general compliance to its Guidelines, policies, procedures and work Instructions
    3. Continuously evaluate the adequacy of the company’s internal control framework in addressing risks and accomplishing the company’s goals and objectives.
    4. Documenting and reporting all areas of non-compliances of all the hospital guidelines on a timely manner
    5. Monitor the organization’s compliance with relevant laws and regulations
    6. Carry out compliance review and Ad hoc checks on compliance with Hospital’s internal procedures and policies
    7. Monitor the implementation of Audit recommendations
    8. Assist in development of robust key risk indicators on risk factors for monitoring and reporting of risk exposures.
    9. Assist in preparation of quarterly reports on Compliance and risk to the Company’s Board Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
    10. To perform any other duties as assigned in line with the organization goals and objectives.

    Qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting/ Commerce or Finance
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CISA) of ACCA qualifications
    • At least 2 years’ experience preferably audit/risk/compliance related functions.
