    Insurance Manager

    Organization/Reporting line:
    Kenya Kazi Services LtdReporting to Director Risk, Insurance, and Welfare.
    Place of work/Travel:
    Nairobi - Travel may berequired to GardaWorld’s areas of operations, in particular across East Africa,and occasional travel to our management offices in London, Brussels, Washingtonand Montreal.

    Externally: Brokers and insurance industry

    Responsibilities

    The Insurance Manager willdeliver corporate insurance programs across East Africa. Responsibilitiesinclude compilation of underwriting information; assistance in coverageplacement, management of relationships with third-party service providersincluding brokers, insurers, and other TPAs; loss forecasting; policymanagement; premium allocations and preparation of various loss analyses.
    TheInsurance Manager uses relevant knowledge of the insurance industry, insuranceconcepts and associated products, insurance pricing and contracts, underwritingpractices, and/or claims/reporting processes and procedures to protect assets,reduce corporate risk and inform insurance purchase decisions.

    Key responsibilities are setout below:

    • Act as the main point of contact for Insurancefor the East Africa region
    • Work with Brokers and the business to gather andreview renewal information for East Africa insurance placement
    • Make recommendations for rating, wording andinsurers within the East Africa region to Director Risk & InsuranceDirector
    • Identify new insurable risks within the Businessand make recommendations for effective management of the risks
    • Work with the Director Risk & Insurance toreport to the organization on cover arrangements, premiums, and recoveries
    • Review and negotiate contractual insuranceobligations placed on the organization
    • Manage (with the Legal Department) the liabilityclaims notification process to insurers so that the insurers have sufficientinformation to investigate claims
    • Monitor and report to the Director Risk &Insurance on the effectiveness of the insurer’s claims handling service
    • Work with each East Africa HR team to place andmanage appropriate medical insurance policies for each region, or as needed
    • Be responsible for the implementation andmanagement of the claims process and ensure this is being followed by each ofthe East Africa locations
    • Be accountable for high profile or high valuesclaims for the East Africa region
    • Monitor and review claims within each of theEast Africa locations to help identify trends
    • Identify areas for improved risk managementpractices within the organisation
    • Work with the Risk Managers in East Africalocations to implement and risk mitigation measures and strategy
    • Wherever possible, ensure the terms andconditions of contracts are clear and robust in relation to all mattersinsurance, provide bid and contract negotiation support as needed.
    • Keep procedures up-to-date and ensureappropriate people are aware and able to follow the procedures as appropriate
    • Conduct regular reviews of existing processesand recommend changes to the Director Risk & Insurance
    • Resolve insurance queries from departments andthird parties
    • Deputize for the Group Insurance Director as andwhen required.
    • Ensure all policies are filed on the companyshared filing system and any necessary certificates of cover are provided bythe broker

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or equivalent
    • Chartered Insurance Institute [CII]qualification preferred
    • Experience of interacting withnational/international financial institutions and insurance counterparts andservice providers

    Compliance and Assurance Manager

    The Manager, Compliance, and Assurance is accountable directly to the Finance Director and functionally to the Senior Manager, Compliance & Assurance for their responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance reviews and supported through the monitoring of their KPIs.
    Organization/Reporting line:
    Reporting directly to Finance Director, East Africa & functionally to Senior Manager,
    Compliance & Assurance.
    Place of work/Travel:
    Nairobi )with travel throughout Africa and potentially globally where the company has operations, as required. Note: Some locations are high-risk areas and travel frequency will fluctuate in line with the needs of the business.

    Internally: Company-wide
    Externally: Clients, authorities, and service providers

    Responsibilities

    The role reports directly to the Finance Director, East Africa, and functionally to Senior Manager, Compliance & Assurance and assists and supports the Compliance and Assurance function, in particular:

    • Support the Senior Manager, Compliance & Assurance in ensuring the delivery of the GardaWorld standards through leading, managing, and maintaining oversight of specific elements of the C&A Team deliverables in Africa.
    • Monitor and maintain as directed the Garda World business management system throughout the regions they are responsible for and in line with the direction provided by DC&A, ensuring that departments and functions are reviewing their processes and performance on a regular basis.
    • Support the monitoring of risk management and business management, ensuring it is systematized across the company whilst providing management and oversight of risk management throughout East Africa.
    • Support the East Africa Oversight Board, to hold the GardaWorld management team and its companies and subsidiaries to account for the quality delivery of services in line with the business management system and the Oversight Board ToR.
    • Review, consider, maintain, and provide direction on any systemic management issues and improvements required to the Business Management System.
    • Assist with the conduct, analysis, and reporting of GardaWorld wide internal and external quality audits and other working processes (Exercise and Testing etc.), leading on the delivery of this topic throughout Africa, as required by the business.
    • Support the delivery of services through the provision of advice and guidance on matters relating to Compliance & Assurance.
    • Manage the completion of bid documentation as necessary for tenders being submitted through the relevant sales departments as they relate to the delivery of services in Africa.
    • Provide support to senior management when required with client meetings relating to Compliance and QA matters.
    • Manage and oversee the delivery of the agreed internal audit plan as directed.
    • Collect data from operational and audit reports such as incident reporting, Internal audits, root cause analysis, and near-miss statistics as requested by the business.
    • Analyze such data in order to report on trends and near-miss issues requiring corrective and/or preventative action.
    • Maintain, monitor, and manage the relevant action register ensuring that updates are provided as and when required.
    • Ensure necessary directives are provided to projects to apply corrective actions/good practices from one project across others.
    • Assist in the maintenance of external certification in relation to PSC-1, ISO18788, ISO9001, ISO14001; BS OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001, and other standards as deemed appropriate by the business (e.g. ISO27001).
    • Support the business to maintain ICoCAmembership.
    • Support company reporting requirements on Modern Slavery Act / Anti-trafficking and anti-sexual exploitation measures.
    • Travel when required to complex environments, to support the business in ensuring adequate oversight of operations in Africa and elsewhere as required by the business.
    • Any other ancillary duties deemed as necessary and relevant to maintaining the Compliance & Assurance function of GardaWorld. 

    Accountability:

    The Manager, Compliance, and Assurance is accountable directly to the Finance Director and functionally to the Senior Manager, Compliance & Assurance for their responsibilities stated in this job description.     Competencies:

    • Fluent English Speaker
    • Proven analytical skills especially analyzing information and data to determine trends and anomalies.
    • A relevant qualification or experience in a compliance role (e.g. HSE (preferred), Quality, Operational Excellence)
    • Qualified or trained as an auditor to a relevant ISO (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 or ISO 9001).
    • Experience in business continuity and emergency response planning advantageous.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
    • Experience in project management relevant to the management of strategic programme plans and/or action plans.
    • Experience/Understanding of risk management principles.
    • Highly competent with IT and Microsoft office applications.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
    • An understanding of the defense and security sector.

    Experience:

    • An understanding of compliance, standards, and audit work.
    • Experience of working in the Middle East or Africa
