    Assistant Trainer- Optometry

    Reporting: Centre Supervisor

    Project Brief:  Promoting affordable vision correction services to rural population of Kenya:   Uncorrected vision is the world’s most widespread disability and effect 2.5 billion people, 90% of whom live in developing countries.

    By training unemployed/ under employed youth to become primary vision care providers known as Eye Rafiki, this partnership creates affordable vision care services (correction of refraction and referral service) for up to8 million people estimated to be living with URE, low income customers in specific rural and peri-urban areas in Kenya.

    NVG &Matibabu Foundation will manage the initiative.

    Roles 

    The trainer role will be responsible for planning and delivering the course content to the students to ensure that the learning objectives are met and providing support in mobilization, placements and maintaining training data on software.

    • Understand the course content, plan and deliver it to the students within a given time frame.
    • Encourage individual learning through clear communication and effective use of learning aids during the session.
    • Assisting Content Development team in developing the course content and assessment of the student.
    • Conduct periodical assessments of the students to ascertain that required standards have been achieved.
    • Engage with students to minimize dropouts & active conversion all enrolments.
    • Design & deliver training to students &ER staff on NVG products & Refraction process.
    • To train students on all edging fitting of spectacles.
    • Monitor the learning progress of students & if required modify classes for best results.
    • Timely submission of training, sales & V.S.E Reports.
    • Counseling students on entrepreneurship skills.
    • Interact with walk-ins candidates for counselling at the center.
    • Conduct on Job Training for ER during field visits.
    • Provide feedback to the students about their performance and counsel them on a regular basis for their learning and growth.
    • Preparing training calendar and deliver the training with in certain time period and complete the training of batch according to the time frame.
    • Assist in mobilizing students and connecting with the communities and opinion makers in villages/towns as and when required.
    • Planning and organizing promotional activities like workshop, eye camp.

    Job Qualifications:            

    • Having a certificate/ diploma in optometry
    • Basic computer skills like MS Word, Power Point and MS Excel.
    • Duration & nature of past experience required (Minimal Required)
    • Should have minimum experience of 1 – 2 years

    Preferred:          

    • Should be hailing from the intended state / geography preferably close to the HQ working locations, however this may not be essential for deserving candidates.

    Mobilization & Recruitment Officer

    Mobilization & Recruitment Officer Job Roles            

    A mobilizer is responsible for spreading the mission and vision of Partner, connecting with the communities and mobilizing the less educated and less skilled people as per the mobilization plan laid out for each center for ensuring the achievement of operational targets in terms of quantity and quality and viability of the center.

    • Facilitate mobilization of students and ability to connect with communities and opinion makers in villages/towns.
    • Identify catchment areas and deploy resources accordingly.
    • Thorough understanding of vision and mission Partner and spreading amongst the communities in their areas of responsibility.
    • Complete knowledge of demographic details of their areas of operations.
    • Assist center head in organizing special events and other promotional activities.
    • Hold community meets, canopy meets and other mobilization procedures as per laid down SOP.
    • Maintain a database of leads generated and daily conversions.
    • Market scanning and gathering information of competitors.
    • Interact with local NGOs/Govt. officials etc. to strengthen the mobilization efforts.
    • Ensuring minimum batch size and achieving monthly enrollment targets.
    • Update MIS on a regular basis for real time data flow.
    • Update data on Lead generations and conversions as per the laid down MIS process.

    Qualifications for the Mobilization & Recruitment Officer Job:

    • Graduation in any stream from any recognized university
    • Basic computer skills like MS Word, Power Point and MS Excel.
    • Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience.
    • Experience in community mobilization/social development work. Preferably from Micro finance sales background.
    • Fluent communications in local language (read and write).

    Preferred:          

    • Should be hailing from the intended state / geography preferably close to the HQ working locations, however this may not be essential for deserving candidates.

    Eye Rafiki Coordinator

    Roles for the Eye Rafiki Coordinator Job

    • An ERC is responsible for assisting in-training candidates in identifying suitable location for setup of optical outlet, assistance in planning outlet layout, branding and inauguration. Monthly business planning, VSE planning and handholding support.
    • Thorough understanding of vision and mission Partner and spreading amongst the communities in their areas of responsibility.
    • Interacting with students for outlet location mapping, verification visit to assess suitability of the selected location.
    • Collection of initial stock amount from certified candidates.
    • Assisting candidates in outlet layout, branding, connecting them to vendors and inauguration of outlet.
    • Ensuring minimum lead time between training and outlet opening.
    • Ensuring maximum conversion of trained candidates into ERs.
    • Assisting ERs in monthly planning, business planning & VSE planning.
    • Monthly reporting of ERs productivity in prescribed format.
    • Assisting ERs in organizing outreach activities.
    • Assist center head in organizing special events and other promotional activities.
    • Update MIS on a regular basis for real time data flow.

    Center Supervisor

    Position: Center Head / Supervisor

    Reporting:   Project Manager

    Job Roles

    The Centre Head is responsible for planning, leading and managing the performance of their team at the centers to ensure the operational targets are achieved in terms of quantity and quality.

    • Help in setting up of a center. Center team building and induction of center staff.
    • Leave planning, Documentation/Maintenance of Records
    • File weekly/Monthly/Quarterly reports to the head office from time to time.
    • Coordinate and help mobilization team to plan and implement strategies.
    • Planning and organizing promotional activities like workshop, Vision screening events.Take part in village meetings, canopy meetings etc.
    • Monitor and follow-up of leads generated by mobilizer.
    • Ensuring minimum batch size, regular supervision for quality training and follow up of training schedule.
    • Monitor and maintain quality of training being delivered as per laid down norms of VTP.
    • To be responsible for achieving monthly/quarterly/yearly enrollments/training and PoS creation targets.
    • Ensuring zero attrition of PoS formed in first year.Explore the local market for partnerships and market linkages.
    • Coordinate with the cluster head to do the Budgeting and cost management for their center.Periodical assessment of students to analyze effectiveness of training, manage/analyze & control student attritions.
    • Forecast manpower requirements at center levels.Developing the team and keep them aligned to the mission and vision of VTP.
    • Lead a mixed team (sales, trainers, admin) of 5-6 members at center level, lay down targets for center and team and drive the entire team to achieve targets by putting in place effective strategies.
    • Counselling students in matters such as vocational choices and entrepreneurship skills and behaviors.Maintain close bonding with students to provide guidance & mentorship to students.
    • Coordinating with RCD team for content development.
    • Monthly visits to centers and Eye Rafiki Technicians (ERT) in order to manage/analyze & suggest betterment plans to center teams.
    • Keeping a close vigilance on profitability of each center.
    • Should be at the top of the things with respect to day to day functioning of centers and follow up on stream follow up of reporting system

    Qualifications

    • Graduation in any stream from any recognized university
    • Basic computer skills like MS Word, Power Point and MS Excel.
    • Should have minimum experience of 2 – 3 years as a Center Manager/ branch manager.

    Preferred

    • Should be hailing from the intended state / geography preferably close to the HQ working locations, however this may not be essential for deserving candidates.
