    Math/PE Apprentice Teacher (Tatu Primary)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Teaching the subject of specialization i.e. Math / Physical Education.
    • Maintain positive, constructive and professional relationships with students, their families and colleagues. 
    • Develop lessons plans and partner with the Learning Design Team in reviewing and updating lessons when required/ desired.
    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and maintain an organized and focused learning environment.
    • Infuse joy and passion for learning in lessons  so that students are excited  and interested in their academic excellence.  
    • Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students, both in academic and culture expectations.
    • Be accountable for students’ mastery of  content and academic standards.
    • Integrate interactive technology into lessons to enhance instructional delivery.
    • Set and communicate rigorous and ambitious goals for all students and provide effective student feedback so they internalize them.
    • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior and model expected behaviour at all times for students to emulate
    • Consistently meet the ambitious goals of a rapidly-growing organization
    • Serve as teacher on duty and/or boarding teacher on duty and support school wide programs aimed at behavior interventions.
    • Timely capture of students data on academic outcomes and articulation of students progress to NP families and other stakeholders when called upon to do so. 
    • Support clubs, societies and other core-curricular enrichments at the school aimed at building all rounded students.
    • Serve as a home room teacher when called upon to do so.

    ABOUT YOU

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • You have a TSC certificate
    • A Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Education to teach  Math / PE or Coaching Certifications
    • You have 1-3 years of distinctive experience in teaching  Math / PE.
    • You have good working skills with technology such as Word, Powerpoint and Excel
    • You are a great communicator. You are able to provide clear and effective written and verbal communication.
    • You are flexible and open to change - you handle uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity well.
    • You are a problem solver - you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.
    • You are excited about our organizational culture—and in particular, you are fired up to challenge yourself by embracing mutual vulnerability and a firehose of feedback.
    • You have a desire to further develop your leadership skills and apply them to transform the lives of African youth.

    Kiswahili/CRE Apprentice Teacher (Tatu Primary School)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
    • Plan activities that meet the social, physical and emotional needs of the children.
    • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the school curriculum.
    • Schedule stimulating and learning activities for the children.
    • Prepare teaching aids to facilitate children learning.
    • Devise games and activities, and also provides playing equipment, and ensure the playing facilities and equipment are clean and safe.
    • Supervise the children as they learn and play.
    • Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide a written report to the Principal, other school leaders and parents.
    • Monitor and keep records/ reports of the children’s progress and development.
    • Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
    • Establish and enforce rules for behaviour, and policies and procedures to maintain order among students.
    • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
    • Assist in bus loading and unloading.
    • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

    School Dorm Father (Eldoret Boys Boarding School)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include:

    • Playing the role of a 'parent' for the students in a professional working relation.
    • Being a role model in all actions and behavior to the students.
    • Defending the rights of the child.
    • Creating a safe environment for teenagers to develop their emotional and social skills.
    • Supervising the wellbeing,  discipline and behavior of students.
    • Observing emotional behavior and referring them to the school counselor.
    • Help the students maintain the cleanliness of their dorm rooms.
    • Report any cases of sickness to the Dean of Residential Life
    • Implementing the residential schedules for the students.
    • Supervision of the student’s hygiene and neatness.
    • Keeping records and reports of residential issues/occurrences within their assigned spaces.
    • Executing any other duty that may be assigned to him by the dean of residential life
    • Communicate regularly with the Dean of Residential Life regarding student behavior in the dorm area.
    • To live in and supervise the dormitory.

    Note: This role requires you to live on campus with flexible working hours including working on weekends.

    ABOUT YOU

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • Certificate/Diploma in social work or any other relevant course in child welfare.
    • You have 2+ years of experience working with students. 
    • Professional counseling skills with a proven track record will be an advantage.
    • Knowledge  and experience working with teenagers before.
    • You are flexible and open to change - you handle uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity well.
    • You are a problem solver - you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.
    • Should have the ability to set clear expectations and boundaries and hold students accountable.
    • Should have computer literacy.
    • She should be caring, understanding, and patient naturally. 
    • Should have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. 
    • Should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through. 
    • Have a positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor.
    • You have the ability to exercise discretion in handling sensitive matters
