    Extension Officer

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Promote sustainable land management and climate-resilient production practice on-farm and on the riparian reserves;
    • Support in the review and development of training materials and modules for food security, livelihoods and resilience initiatives;
    • Establish specific capacity building methodologies for effective delivery and sustainability of project interventions;
    • Mobilize rural communities in Narok County to form tree nursery groups or take part in tree planting and any other activities as per GBM’s project requirements;
    • Plan and administer training and capacity building of tree nursery groups on the best nursery management and seedling production methods;
    • Provide technical support for the successful implementation of Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) activities;
    • Follow up, map and keep track of all the tree nursery groups, households and planted sites in the project area;
    • Train groups and farmers on FMNR, climate smart agriculture, sustainable energy options, soil and water conservation;
    • Monitor and support the timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all project activities;
    • Provide monthly progress reports on the project implementation as required;
    • Attend the regular weekly and monthly planning meetings as called upon; and
    • Perform any other duties as delegated.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Degree in Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, Community Development, Project Management or related field;
    • At least 3 years of experience in implementing environmental and/or development-related programs;
    • Knowledge and experience in gender mainstreaming and social inclusion is an added advantage;
    • Must have good understanding of the different systems of extension or field work delivery;
    • Ability to engage with local communities, partners and government authorities;
    • Good organization, analytical and interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to ride a motorbike is an added advantage;
    • Excellent English and Swahili communication skills (oral and written);
    • Excellent computer skills; and
    • Good command of the Maasai language will be an added advantage.

    Project Officer

    Position Summary

    To contribute to GBM strategy by operationalizing the organization’s thematic projects on the ground by ensuring that all projects are professionally managed within the budgets, donor requirements, work plans and proposals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensure that projects are planned, implemented and evaluated effectively;
    • Ensure timely implementation of assigned GBM projects in assigned region in accordance with the project documents, supporting agreements, annual work plans and the procedures of GBM;
    • Ensure that project budgets are utilized and monitored in accordance with GBM internal controls and donor agreements;
    • In liaison with the Project Field Officers on the ground, support the collection, collation and reporting of all projects data and documents and assist with the submission of technical
    • progress reports according to the agreed formats and deadlines;
    • Provide technical support and facilitation to project activities and ensure quality outputs that meet the satisfaction of donors, beneficiary communities, GBM and other stakeholders;
    • Participate in proposal writing by assisting in researching contents and data compilation;
    • Supervise Field Project Officers based in Counties and update for all the projects under your jurisdiction;
    • Develop close working relationships with other stakeholders for the development and strengthening of GBM vision and mission;
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annually and end of year project reports in a timely manner as required; and
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Skills and Qualifications Required

    • Degree in Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, Community Development, Project Management or related field;
    • Minimums 3-years of demonstrated experience in donor funded program or project management;
    • Experience with narrative reports and finical reporting;
    • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, communications skills and ability;
    • Knowledge and experience in gender mainstreaming is an added advantage;
    • Ability to engage partners, donors and government authorities;
    • Good organization and analytical skills;
    • Excellent English and Swahili communication skills (oral and written); and
    • Excellent computer skills.
