    Payroll Officer

    About the role:

    Burn is looking for a Payroll Officer who will be responsible for running the payroll smoothly by managing all the salaries of the employees, and keeping an accurate record of employee hours and salaries. The individual will work with the various departments to ensure that salaries are transparent, employees receive their pay on time, and that they all have a thorough understanding of their salaries.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently.
    • Collecting, calculating, and entering data in order to maintain and update payroll information.
    • Collecting daily and weekly or monthly timesheets.
    • Preparing employees’ compensation by the end of each month using a payroll software
    • Distribution of payslips to the staff
    • Ensuring that wages and tax withholding comply with the regulations.
    • Entering new employees’ data into the system.
    • Reporting on payroll expenses, compensation, benefits, insurance deductions and taxes
    • Resolving payroll discrepancies

    Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources/Finance.
    • Proven work experience as a Human resource payroll officer, payroll clerk or similar role
    • Experience in the manufacturing sector, or other sectors with similar remuneration structures.
    • Hands-on experience with HR systems.
    • Strong Excel skills.
    • Exceptional mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail - the ability to spot numerical errors.
    • Ability to handle confidential information.
    • Sound knowledge of labour laws as well as employment regulations in East African countries.
    • Sound knowledge of payroll taxes
    • Experience with HRIS/payroll software (e.g., NAV)
    • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
    • An analytical mind with a problem-solving attitude

    Carbon Finance Assistant

    About the Role

    BURN is seeking a highly motivated Carbon Finance Assistant to provide support to the Carbon Finance department. As a Carbon Finance Assistant, you will assist in preparing financial transactions and reporting in the Carbon entities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Initiate financial transactions into the accounting system on a real-time basis for carbon entities.
    • Update and maintain all settings in the ERP/accounting system.
    • Ensure proper filing and retrieval of carbon finance-related documentation.
    • Assist with the preparation and coordination of the audit process.
    • Undertake routine reconciliations and assist in month-end close processes.
    • Identify and address discrepancies on projects related purchase invoices and receipts
    • Assist with implementing and maintaining financial controls and procedures.

    Skills and Experience:

    • CPA finalist or it's equivalent.
    • Proficiency in MS Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong analytical and computer skills, especially in spreadsheet and financial analysis.
    • Results-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize effectively and multitask to deliver results in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Knowledgeable in budgeting, finance, accounting, Assistant controls, and account reconciliations.

    Electric Policy Officer

    About the role

    Burn is looking for an Electric policy officer responsible for researching, writing, analyzing, and reviewing policies to help senior management develop and shape legislation and policy changes.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Commissioning and performing analysis and research for policies.
    • Provide communications to inform key internal stakeholders of policy developments.
    • Draft policy papers, letters, or responses to regulators under supervision.
    • Stay updated on the latest developments and initiatives in the energy and clean cooking industry
    • Collect on-the-ground information that might impact policies.
    • Analyze current policy issues and trends.
    • Attending stakeholder meetings where matters of policy and legislation are discussed.
    • Setting up meetings and consultations with stakeholders and the public.

    Skills and Experience:

    • 2+ years of experience in policy development, implementation, and analysis in the electric power industry
    • Knowledge of electric power generation, transmission, and distribution systems

    FP&A Specialist

    About the Role:

    The FP&A reports to the Finance Director and will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. Travel may be required for operations across the business entity of Burn group. The FP&A will be a key member of the Finance team.

    The FP&A will be responsible for providing and implementing the strategy, for the financial reporting, Business Partnering, ad hoc report on demand in the context of the business strategy, business operating model, and relevant and corporate governance.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Effectively communicating strategy and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Present the weekly, monthly & quarterly financial and management reports of various entities & depts.
    • Prepare and drive monthly forecasting process including cash requirement for manufacturing plan and cash requirements for countries and coordination with a global team.
    • Analyze the trends of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), especially those relating to financial metrics such as sales, expenditures, profit margin, delinquency, collections, inventory days, etc.
    • Monitor KPI and identify the cause of any unexpected variances.
    • Consolidate, analyze, and report on financial performance as well as corrective, preventative, and improvement initiatives required to achieve financial strategies.
    • Develop and continually improve budgeting, financial projections, and operating forecast.
    • Implement a business intelligence tool and dashboard reports.
    • Prepare/support presentations to BOD and Senior Management Team.
    • Drive the development of Annual operating plans of countries and reporting of actuals against the plan with proper analytical-qualitative comments.
    • Support management team, and corporate team, help in due diligence, funding requirements, and the Heads of Department with data-driven analysis.
    • Support the accounting team and other functions in implementing the software/project if any from the FP&A side.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance along with CPA or MBA.
    • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
    • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized, ability to think creatively, and self-motivated
    • 3+ years’ experience in Financial Planning and Analysis.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills for dashboard/management reporting.

    Warehouse Officer

    We are looking for a Warehouse officer to participate in our warehouse operations and activities. Warehouse officer responsibilities include storing materials, picking, packing, and scanning orders. The goal is to increase efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Inventory Management and Planning: Lead all inventory and management efforts in the county. Control the stock and setting up stock points at the county level.
    • Inbound Logistic: Manage all the receipts stock at the stock point and distribution countywide and ensure last-mile delivery.
    • Outbound Logistics: Ensure seamless transfer of stock from the central warehouse to the agents across the county. Manage the vehicles and plan the logistic roadmap.

    • Aftersales: Collects the damaged stoves from customers and delivers the repaired or replaced to the customer. Manages the repair station.
    • Forecasting: Own all shipment forecasts and liaise regularly with the sales team and Ops at HQ.
    • Asset Management: Manage all the assets at the warehouse, and manage license renewal and rent.
    • Reporting: Send daily updates and reports to Field Operations Manager.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Proven working experience as a Warehouse Worker
    • Proficiency in inventory software, databases, and systems
    • Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to lift heavy objects.
    • Diploma in supply chain management or relevant qualifications.
