    Nurse Supervisor, Paediatrics A&E

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the Paediatrics A&E team in formulation, implementation, and evaluation of annual goals & objectives in accordance with the Program and Nursing Division strategic objectives
    • Ensure staff coverage and skill mix for safe and effective patient care
    • In collaboration with others, lead the Paediatrics A&E staff in development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, protocols, clinical pathways, and care guidelines in line with identified standards
    • Participate in establishment of standards of care with unit staff and monitor delivery of care according to established standards
    • Employ effective change management strategies to support in enhancement of safe patient care
    • Undertake performance review of staff in Pediatrics A&E and develop action plan to ensure individual staff growth
    • Respond to client complaints in a timely manner by solving raised issues or alert the relevant authorities
    • Guide nursing staff in initiation of and participation in unit based as well as hospital wide nursing research projects

    Requirements:

    • Registered nurse (KRN/M; KRCHN) with a BSc-Nursing degree
    • Valid practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • 5 years of continuous clinical experience in an acute care hospital
    • Certificate in European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS)
    • Familiar with Hospital policies, procedures and processes
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to apply critical thinking and to work with minimum supervision.

    Clinical Practice Educator, Paediatrics

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the team in development, implementation and monitoring of unit based clinical policies and procedures in Childrens ward.
    • Take lead in identification, definition and monitoring of unit based clinical indicators
    • Assist the nurse manager and lead physician to initiate innovative and evidence-based strategies to improve patient care
    • Participate in evaluation of care and outcomes through Mortality and Morbidity discussions, clinical incidence trends and clinical indicators
    • Together with the Nurse Manager, conduct regular evaluation of nurses and design individual development plans based on identified learning/training needs
    • Review patient allocation to determine correct patient assignment according to the nurse’s competence
    • Ensure adequate orientation and settling of new nurses to assigned unit
    • Develop and maintains effective networks both internal and external to improve nursing practice
    • Ensure compliance to documentation policy through spot-checks on nursing forms such Initial assessment, Vital signs chart, Patient Education Record, and fluid chart, treatment sheet and progress notes chart
    • Participate in evaluation of nursing documents to ensure their appropriateness in capturing patient information
    • Take lead in unit based Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) and ensures participation by nurses

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BScN)
    • Registered nurse with current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing experience in an acute care hospital
    • Certification in BLS, EPLS
    • Possess teaching abilities, leadership qualities, professional judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a sense of professional development
    • Demonstrate expert knowledge of and skills in chosen area of work
