    Senior Product Manager

    Your Role

    KOKO Networks is on a mission to imagine and deliver technology that transforms life in the world’s fastest growing cities. The role we’re looking to fill is a career defining opportunity for someone passionate about this mission and about product management who wants to build and lead amazing teams of engineers, designers, and delivery managers in Nairobi and Pune.

    The products and solutions you’ll help build and shape touch hundreds of thousands of people in some of the fastest growing cities in the world every single day. Your job will be to help us grow our business and revenue, acquire and retain customers, make complex logistics and operations more efficient, and delight our colleagues, customers, and partners.

    This role requires significant time in the local market and close to our operations in Nairobi. We will consider candidates based there, willing to relocate there, or able to travel there ~30% of their time.

    What You Will Do

    • You will build detailed domain knowledge of KOKO’s business plans, markets, and internal realities as a manufacturing and logistics company offering combined hardware and software products
    • You will manage the roadmap: capture work from a wide range of inputs, understand and prioritise this work so your team is always working on the most impactful projects
    • You’ll deeply understand the problems that you’re tackling through research and regular interaction with customers, partners and colleagues; define and frame those problems for the team
    • You will collaborate with your team in thinking big, to imagine solutions that solve these problems
    • You’ll scope these solutions to their smallest coherent state to ship to users as early as you can
    • You’ll constantly evaluate if your solutions have solved the problem through quantitative and qualitative measures, both in MVPs and after full release
    • You will own and maintain the quality of the product areas your team is responsible for; deliver high quality software in every release
    • You’ll motivate a group of committed, smart people to do the best work of their careers

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • 5+ years experience in product management with a proven track record of shipping impactful products
    • Ideally you have some UX experience as it’s important to us to think deeply about product design decisions and how to create simple user interfaces
    • We prefer candidates who have experience working in combined software and hardware businesses (with manufacturing and logistics)
    • You’re entrepreneurial; you need little direction; you’re self driven and show ownership
    • You can clearly communicate product decisions and the rationale behind them. You’re comfortable with making decisions in ambiguity. You can help others make decisions by being persuasive.
    • You’re able to easily switch between thinking creatively and analytically for best results
    • Have an understanding of the technical architecture of complex web and mobile applications

    Senior Agile Delivery Manager

    Your Role

    You will build and lead a small but highly capable team of delivery managers who work across multiple product squads. You will guide their work, act as an Agile champion, and work alongside product managers, engineers, and UX designers to ship high quality product and solutions.

    The Senior Agile Delivery Manager role at KOKO combines the skills of an experienced agile coach and delivery manager with that of a people manager. You will be responsible for the morale and work of your team, coaching and leading them, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement while also ‘jumping in’ on delivery work.

    This is a high-leverage role for us. You will be our first (mostly Agile) Delivery Leader and one our most experienced agile practitioners. You will report directly to our Chief Product Officer and be a member of the Product leadership team. We’re building an amazing Delivery team here at KOKO and you can help us right from the start.

    This role requires at least some time in the local market and close to our operations in Nairobi in India. We will consider candidates based there, willing to relocate there, or able to travel there 10-20% of their time.

    What You Will Do

    • You will lead, grow, and mentor a small but eager team of talented delivery managers
    • You will be a strong advocate for Agile and Lean practices and mindset; you coach and lead teams, continuously reflecting and challenging them; you innovate and tailor our ways of working
    • You build strong cross-functional relationships at all levels, manage stakeholders’ expectations, and build consensus around time, resource, quality, and risk trade-offs
    • You will optimise delivery flows of teams, help them address challenges around complexity, risks, issues and dependencies and identify innovative ways to to remove blockers
    • Together with product and engineering managers you will lead a continuous planning process, translating strategic roadmaps into specific requirements and plans, identifying dependencies across workstreams, and coordinating delivery
    • You will also work directly on the delivery of key solutions and projects, focusing especially on higher-level strategic delivery work and the most complex delivery and service challenges
    • You will ensure that our solutions and systems provide high levels of availability, performance, and security – providing guidance and leadership at both build and run time
    • You will improve our insights into the levers that affect service outcomes for deployed solutions and drive continuous improvement through better monitoring, logging, tracing, and reporting

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • We are looking for a hands-on leader with a strong blend of business and technical savvy as well as strategic thinking and tactical execution, who is passionate about shaping markets in Kenya and beyond.
    • 8+ years experience working with agile (esp. Scrum and Kanban) and traditional delivery approaches – ideally some in a start-up/scale-up environment and in building and shipping product
    • At least 3 years building and leading highly effective teams
    • You have proven your ability to deliver business results by planning, prioritising and delivering with clearly defined roadmaps or strategic plans
    • You have demonstrable experience of creating lasting positive change towards agile and Lean ways of working to an organisation, through coaching and doing – ideally some as an Agile coach

    Principal Product Manager

    Your Role

    As a Principal Product Manager you will lead our product efforts in one business area and play a key role in enabling KOKO’s long term success, including our expansion beyond Nairobi and Kenya. This is a very visible leadership position and has the potential to help increase revenue, make complex logistics and operations more efficient, and delight our colleagues, customers, and partners.

    You will be a member of the Product leadership team and work directly with executive team members on key company priorities and with other leaders across Engineering, Operations, Marketing & Sales, and Manufacturing. 

    This is both a creative and analytical role – building on insights gained from data, refining product strategies, and building solutions to better acquire and retain customers, support our employees, and broaden our product offering.

    This role requires significant time in the local market and close to our operations in Nairobi. We will consider candidates based there, willing to relocate there, or able to travel there 30-40% of their time.

    What You Will Do

    • You will be a senior leader in the organisation, defining the KOKO product roadmap and vision, identifying opportunities to innovate and drive value for our customers and colleagues

    Warehouse Clerk

    Your Role

    As a warehouse clerk, you will be responsible for accounting for physical stock of finished products and ensure best practice in stock management systems to enable traceability, accurate picking and avert any stock losses and damages within and around the warehouse.

    What You Will Do

    • Manage accurate stock transfers during the receipt of inbound shipments into the warehouse and from the warehouse to loading.
    • Monitor stock movement in the warehouses and ensure effective product tagging and issuing procedures are followed at all times.
    • Supervise the picking of products to loading and ensure that loaders adhere to the picking lists as generated from the system.
    • Facilitate stock movement in the warehouse and ensure proper arrangement of stocks for ease of stock count and independent verification.
    • Ensure the warehouse is regularly cleaned, maintained and stock well stacked.
    • Ensure that all relevant procedures, SOPs and routines are followed and adhered to in line with the company policy, procedures and requirements.
    • Any other tasks as required by your supervisor.   

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • Degree/Diploma in supply chain, logistics or Business administration or related
    • Ability to multitask, able to prioritize work and attention to detail
    • Professional qualification KISM ,CIPS is added advantage
    • Minimum 1 years work experience or internship in a busy distribution set up
    • Good computer skills, ERP working knowledge preferred

    Senior User Experience Manager

    The Senior UX Manager role at KOKO combines the skills of a very experienced designer and design manager. You will be responsible for the morale and design output of your team, coaching and leading them while also ‘jumping in’ on design work.

    This role requires significant time spent close to our customers, partners and colleagues in Nairobi. We will consider candidates based here, willing to relocate here, or able to travel here ~30% of their time.

    What You Will Do

    • You will lead, grow, and mentor a small but highly capable team of talented UX designers
    • You build relationships with colleagues and executives across the organisation and effectively communicate process, design goals and approach for building experiences that are cohesive and well-informed
    • You will define a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that move us towards that larger vision over time
    • You’ll improve how we design and build product; work with product teams to produce elegant, practical, and coherent designs for users and customers; be an advocate for user-centred design
    • You will also work directly on the design of products and solutions, focusing especially on higher-level strategic design work and the most complex design and usability challenges
    • You will conduct and lead user research and collaborate with other teams to understand pain points and opportunities from our users’ perspective
    • You’ll become an expert in our product domain, understanding the competitive landscape, where the market is going, and how those things relate to our product vision and strategy
    • You will introduce and promote leading techniques for user research, ideation, prototyping, and user testing
    • We use a suite of tools including Balsamiq, AdobeXD, and Zeplin to name just a few. We’re also quick to adopt better tools and processes, so you’ll be more than welcome to help shape our tool suite.

    • Strong information design experience with a solid foundation in UX design heuristicsYou are a strong leader, very confident and competent at leading individuals and teams.

    Senior QA Manager

    Your Role

     

    As KOKO grows within and outside Kenya, our team is looking for a Software QA Manager who will lead and grow a world-class QA team. KOKO Networks systems consist of field hardware and software, such as self service fuel dispensers and smart fuel delivery vehicles that are controlled and managed through our cloud systems to deliver first of a kind services to our customers and partners.  As such you will play a key role in enabling KOKO’s long term success, including our expansion beyond Nairobi and Kenya. This is a very visible leadership position in which you should be able to influence the decisions of your team without having to make all of them.

    In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute and add value across KOKO’s entire product suite, through individual contribution, and equally importantly through bringing strong leadership to a group of QA engineers. In this role, you should be a “player and coach” – excited about managing and coaching your team, as well as contributing, hands-on.

    KOKO’s suite of products spans multiple technical domains and disciplines in software and hardware, and so experience in end-to-end systems thinking across distributed components is key.

    What You Will Do

    • You will manage the test and release process for all production software (field systems and backend)
    • You will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to design and execute integration and regression tests on software releases, advance key quality initiatives and reduce risk.
    • You will advocate and implement modern test automation techniques and tools, quality control environments and mock systems to move manual testing to automated CI and eventually CD.
    • You will implement a metrics-driven approach to software development, QA and release management to measure and manage the effectiveness of our teams
    • You will review technical designs for software changes, and ensure they will be testable, scalable and robust. 
    • You will recruit, manage and provide technical mentorship to QA engineers through active coaching and setting measurable goals that help them grow and create maximum impact for KOKO.
    • You will help build the engineering culture at KOKO, ensuring it is positioned to attract similar minded people with a passion for using technology to tackle some of the hardest challenges.
    • You will ensure the use of best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD across teams and projects, documentation and help others to improve the quality of their work.
    • You will serve as a technical authority and represent the full capabilities of our testing and suite within and outside the Product and Engineering teams

    What You Will Bring to KOKO

    • Expertise in software quality assurance, test, and integration and a passion for finding bugs and edge cases in complex systems.
    • Three or more years of experience directly managing software engineers and 8+ years of experience in software engineering overall.
    • Strong track record leading, developing, and delivering significant software projects
    • Expertise in designing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems
    • Well developed skills in designing for testability, reliability and troubleshooting
    • Evangelist for Agile practices, able to work closely with product leaders and developers to support delivery in an agile manner to achieve key goals.
    • Strong communicator, both written and verbal, who is calm and decisive under pressure.
    • Empathy for your colleagues, encouraging team members to think creatively while knowing where to intervene to tackle tough problems and navigate conflicts.

    We are looking for a highly technical leader with significant experience in scaling and maintaining complex, mission critical systems, and making key architectural decisions along the way.  You should be comfortable leading and coaching in a remote environment, building rapport across the team, doing what’s necessary to ensure KOKO’s products always deliver.
