    Deputy University Librarian (Re-Advertisement) - Grade 14 (1 Position)

    MKsU/DUL/ 01/23

    Applicant should meet the following requirements: 

    • Must have an earned Ph.D. in Library and Information Science or related fields with three years experience as a Senior Librarian Grade 
    • Should have published at least two articles in peer reviewed journals.

    Key Responsibilities. 

    • Overall planning, administration and management of Library service.
    • Developing, implementing and monitoring policies, strategies, procedures and work plans.
    • Manage selection, acquisition, organization and dissemination of Library resources and services.
    • Promotion and marketing of Library services.
    • Developing services for physically and visually impaired.
    • Ensuring that the Library meets the needs of precise groups of users including Post Graduate Students and Persons Living with Disability.
    • Ensuring different Library systems and services function effectively.
    • Participation in capacity building and mentorship of Library staff.
    • Working in collaboration with schools to develop and implement Information Literacy Program.
    • Planning, coordinating and assigning duties and responsibilities to Library staff.
    • Monitoring Library procedures in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
    • Keeping abreast with emerging Library and information trends and especially on Knowledge management.

    Deputy Information Technology Officer – Grade 14 (1 Position)

    Applicant should meet the following requirements: 

    • Must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field from a recognized institution, with nine (9) years experience in a relevant field three (3) of which must be at (Grade 13 or equivalent)

    OR 

    • Must have an earned Master's degree in Computer Studies/ Sciences/ Information Technology or related field from a recognized institution with twelve (12) years experience in a relevant field, three (3) of which at Grade 13.
    • Registration with a professional body and relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.

    Key Responsibilities;

    • Develop system algorithms and models used in designing ICT systems for the University to ensure they fully capture the needs of the intended users of the system.
    • Coordinate protocol types for the network systems for effective implementation of specific operation supported by the specific procedures.
    • Coordinate the development of ICT infrastructural implementation plans for the University to ensure the intended output is relevant and necessary implementation steps are well prioritized.
    • Ensure optimum system security application in all areas.
    • Ensure there is compliance of software licensing laws.
    • Coordinate the preparation of contracts between the University and other entities on matters pertaining to ICT.
    • Ensure disposal action is promptly carried out.
    • Prepare Service budget, procurement plan, performance targets and work plan.
    • Prepare ICT project handover reports to inform on the success of the project objectives as well as provide a user manual for the new ICT upgrades for guiding users.
    • Develop and train staff on use of virtual programmes.
    • Maintain and regularly update the assets register for all assets in the Department for accountability purposes.

    Assistant Registrar (Performance Contract & Quality Management System) – Grade 12 (1 Position)

    Applicant should meet the following requirements: 

    • Must have a Master's degree in a relevant field and must have served as a Senior Administrative Assistant I Grade 11 or equivalent for at least three (3) years.
    • Member of a recognized professional administration or management body.
    • Ph.D. degree will be an added advantage.

    OR 

    • A Bachelor's degree with twelve (12) years' experience three (3) of which must be at the level of a Senior Administrative Assistant I Grade 11 or its equivalent.
    • Member of a recognized professional administration or management body.
    • Must be computer literate.

    Key Responsibilities; 

    • Collect annual departmental performance targets for the upcoming year so as to aid in development of the University wide performance targets.
    • Develop an annual draft of the University wide performance targets inform of a manual for onward transmission of the same to the government for approval.
    • Participate in the negotiation process with the Ministry of Education and office of the President every year so as to present the University wide performance targets and deliberate on approval of the targets.
    • Ensure proper dissemination of the reviewed and approved performance targets to the various departments every year so as to act as a guide in development of strategies to achieve targets.
    • Develop a guideline on key indicators to guide in monitoring and evaluation of departments in line with their set targets.
    • Oversee the continuous monitoring and quarterly evaluation of departments in line with their approved targets so as to measure conformity to the targets as well as offer recommendations to resolve any deviations.
    • Develop the schedule for reporting on performance contracting by departments as well as oversee adherence to the same so as to facilitate the development of quarterly University wide reports for onward transmission to the State Department in charge of Performance Contract.
    • Review and implement the MksU ISO Manual and the Standard.
    • Oversee adherence to the prescribed internal and external audit.

    Senior Accountant – Grade 12

    MksU/F/05/23

    Applicant should meet the following requirements: 

    • Must have an earned M.sc in Accounting/ Auditing, MBA (Accounting or Finance) plus CPA part III.
    • Three (3) years relevant working experience 
    • Membership to professional Body.

    OR 

    • Must have an earned Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting/Finance Option) / Audit or Equivalent and CPA part III.
    • Six (6) Years relevant work experience three (3) of which as Accountant I/Internal Auditor I Grade 11 or equivalent.
    • Membership to a Professional Body.
    • Must be Computer Literate (Accounting Packages).

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Preparation of management reports and financial statements regarding hotel payments to facilitate decision making.
    • File statutory returns with the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Ensure payment of casual employees is properly processed and paid.
    • Provide input in the budgeting process of the department

    Assistant Student Counsellor- Grade 9/10

    Applicants should meet the following requirements: 

    • Must have an earned Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Education Psychology or equivalent.
    • Registered with relevant professional body.

    OR 

    • Must have an earned Bachelor's degree in Counseling Psychology, Education Psychology or equivalent. Six (6) years working experience, three (3) of which in student counseling.
    • Registered with relevant professional body.
    • Must be Computer literate.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Provide counseling services to University Students.
    • Organize the students’ orientation exercise to familiarize them with counseling services at the University.
    • Keep an accurate record of counseling sessions with students.
    • Coordinate peer counseling activities.
    • Supervise staff under them
