Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) is one of the six Regional Development Authorities (RDAs) in Kenya, established by an Act of Parliament CAP 441 with a mandate to, in part, initiate, plan and develop resources along the Kerio River basin.

Job Purpose
Development and implementation of Agribusiness strategies for sustainable Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries for value addition and Technology Transfer.
Key Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities for this grade among others will entail:-
- Overseeing the interpretation of applicable agriculture policies and Acts.
- Developing and implementing agricultural strategies and action plans to enhance food security agenda.
- Organizing implementation of agricultural activities.
- Supervising performance management and legal compliance.
- Advising and providing guidance on all matters in agriculture and livestock production.
- Establishing new linkages and collaborations with related institutions.
- Providing leadership for optimal utilization and commercialization of all Authority farms/Agro based centres for sustainable development.
- Providing innovative agricultural solutions to enhance production.
- Planning and overseeing preparation of budgets, work plans, procurement plans for all agricultural projects.
- Overseeing the supervision of staff development and performance appraisal in the division.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, candidate must have:
- A Degree in Agriculture / Agribusiness / Horticulture or any other related field
- Master’s degree in Agriculture / Livestock production / Horticulture or any relevant field
- A membership to professional body
- Have 8 years’ work experience in relevant field with at least 3 years in the position of Senior Agribusiness Officer or equivalent.

Terms of Employment: Permanent and Pensionable
Job Purpose
Providing sound legal advice that protects the Authority’s interest and ensures compliance with legal regulatory, contractual and good governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal advisory services to KVDA to ensure compliance with existing law and regulatory requirements.
- Drafting, reviewing and vetting legal instruments and advising the Management and KVDA
- Carrying out regular legal audits in the Authority to ensure compliance
- Identifying and monitoring areas of risk in legal compliance within KVDA and recommending precautionary measures to avoid non compliance.
- Researching, reviewing, analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations and advising Authority accordingly.
- Preparing and monitoring of the Department's budget and expenditures
- Drafting and reviewing legal pleadings, attending court and quasi-judicial tribunals, compiling documentary evidence, coordinating witness preparation, receiving court pleadings, instructing external legal counsel and
- monitoring the process.
- Assisting in coordinating Authority meetings by preparing and dispatching Authority Notices, Agenda, Authority Papers, Authority minutes and Authority action reports.
- Preparing reports on use of KVDA Seal
- Coordinating Governance and legal Audits and preparation of reports.
- Managing the Divisions legal registry including updating legal documentation, regulations, ordinance, policy manuals to ensure compliance.
- Attending to all legal matters of the Board including advising, vetting and drafting of legal agreements in relations to the Board’s operations.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, candidate must have:
- Bachelor of Laws from a recognized University
- Been admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
- Membership of Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing
- A valid practicing certificate
- Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
- Holder of Certified Public Secretary (K) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Not less than five (8) years, with at least three (3) years post admission experience as a Legal officer in a busy legal/corporate environment.
