    Hospital Pharmacist

    Job Summary

    • The Pharmacist will be responsible for monitoring the supply of all medicines used in the hospital. S/he will be incharge of purchasing, despensing and performing quality checks on medication stock.

    Major duties and responsibilities:

    • Oversee monthly reporting on consumption of medicines, non pharmaceuticals, and overall stock status from all the relevant service points.
    • Together with other clinical team, support procurement of quality medicines, other consumables and medical equipment for the IRTHS Pharmacy and other departments.
    • Develop guidelines and standard operating procedures for training IRTHS partners and teams.
    • With the business and training manager and other trainers, support quality training on pharmaceutical products for providers or clients.
    • Develop a business strategy for pharmacy and non-pharmaceutical products that ensures attainment of access, sales and surplus targets.
    • Provide timely monthly and quarterly financial and non-financial performance reports for drug wholesale and retail trading.
    • Dispense pharmacy supplies and keep accurate reports on drugs and other pharmacy supplies
    • Support teams in planning and target-setting with performance management to ensure achievement of goals.

    Minimum Qualification:

    • Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy added advantage.
    • Possesses a valid practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya, which must be available for use by the hospital if needed.
    • A minimum of two (2) years clinical pharmaceutical experience.
    • Experience in clinical research is advantageous.
    • Proficiency in use of health information systems

    Procurement Officer

    Job Summary

    • The job holder will oversee procurement department, develop and implement procurement strategy, co-ordinate purchasing practices and maximize benefits from purchasing activities.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Prepare, publish, issue procurement and disposal documents including invitation to tender, supplier prequalification and invitation to expression of interest
    • Maintain and update annually standing list of registered and approved suppliers required by the organization.
    • Coordinate the evaluation and analysis of tenders, quotations and proposal, prepare summary reports and commendations to facilitate the effective award of business.
    • Oversee the suppliers prequalification process, monitor designated contracts to ensure suppliers obligations are fully discharged.
    • Carry out periodical market surveys to inform the placing of order or adjudication by the relevant award committee.
    • Acts as secretary to the tender, procurement and disposal committee
    • Work in liaison with the stores officer on stock levels and re-order levels for the next purchase.
    • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management /Purchasing and Supplies.
    • Master’s degree in any business related field added advantage.
    • Must be a member of KISM or CIPS.
    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a busy procurement environment.
    • Must be computer literate and have integrity.
    • Ability to multi –task and pay attention to detail

    Research Assistants

    Job Summary:

    • Research Assistants (RAs) role will be primarily to recruit, screen, enrol and follow up study participants.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Administer informed consent to participants before they are enrolled into the study.
    • Enroll and administer the questionnaires to participants, enter data into REDCap or Survey-CTO or other survey tool and ensure data is transmitted daily.
    • Follow up participants to attain the highest level of follow-up rate.
    • Collect and review data as guided by good clinical and data practices,track and maintain relevant systems to ensure project timelines are met
    • Ensure that data collection materials and accessories are safeguarded

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or human health related field; Diploma with relevant research experience may be considered.
    • Certificate in Protection of Human Research Subjects and Good Clinical Practice.
    • At least 3 years’ experience as an RA in public health-related research.
    • Competency in Microsoft Office.
    • Data collection using REDCap/ODK/Survey-CTO or similar application software mandatory.
    • Fluency in English and at least 1 of the following languages: Swahili, Dholuo

    Contract period: 3 months-3 years, depending on study

    Nurses

    Job Summary:

    • The role will be primarily to support the clinical procedures during screening, enrolment and follow up of study participants and offer HIV testing and referral services.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Take vitals, screen and enrol study participants, schedule appointments.
    • Administer informed consent and collect data.
    • Take samples and administer study products (e.g., drugs, vaccines).
    • Provide adherence counselling and perform clinical procedures.
    • Perform quality improvement procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Nursing from KMTC or equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Valid practicing licence and registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Three or more years of previous experience in research, preferably on clinical trials.
    • Experience with COVID-19 research or service provision highly desirable

    Study Coordinator

    Job Summary:

    • In-charge of all aspects of study implementation in compliance with national and international ethical principles.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Support the development/revision of the study protocol and associated documents, including consent forms and data collection tools.
    • Support submission to regulatory bodies, including ethics review committees.
    • Prepare and monitor compliance with SOPs and procedures manuals.
    • Conduct community entry activities; participate in hiring and training of study staff; oversee participant recruitment and retention; ensure efficient electronic data collection and submission.
    • Supervise study staff and ensure they uphold the principles of research ethics and follow approved SOPs.
    • Organize regular conference calls with local and international investigators.
    • Prepare and submit timely reports; participate in data analysis and writing of abstracts and manuscripts.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or human health related field; Bachelor’s degree with relevant research experience may be considered.
    • At least 10 years of research experience in public health or economics, half of which must be in coordination position(s); demonstrated experience with using REDCap/ODK/Survey-CTO or similar application software REQUIRED.
    • Strong computer proficiency with excellent competency in Microsoft excel mandatory.
    • Experience in statistical data analysis and at least five publications in peer-reviewed journals highly desired.

    Contract period: 1 year renewable up to 4 years

    Human Resource Assistant

    Job Summary:

    • The job holder will perform various human resource support duties

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Process, verify, and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications.
    • Assist in orientation of new employees on human resource policies and programs as needed.
    • File and dispatch correspondences regarding staff.
    • Oversee the human resource database and ensure that system records are accurately recorded and cross-checked.

    Human Resource Officer

    Job Summary:

    • The incumbent will assist the Human Resource Manager in planning, coordinating and implementing human capital, administration policies,strategies, systems and processes to maintain good relations between management and staff.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure new contracts and contract renewals are prepared and presigned by all staff before reporting to the field.
    • Assist in managing staff welfare specifically, monitoring WIBA related cases and staff medical scheme.
