    Nurses (2 positions)

    NR/LVCT/1/2023

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Provide clinical services to HIV positive clients in the facility as per the national guidelines.
    • Provide HIV counseling and testing services at the facility
    • Strengthen referrals and linkages between PMTCT activities and the Comprehensive Care Clinics
    • Prepare HIV positive patient for immediate initiation of HAART
    • Ensure all HIV positive clients are followed up and retained on treatment by strengthening appointment schedule.
    • Ensure there is a system in place to track missed appointments and treatment interrupters
    • Provide day-to-day technical support of the facility HIV /TB Program as per national guidelines
    • Provide on job training and mentorship to other health care workers using the national ART guideline
    • Oversee Early Infant Diagnosis, care and follow-up of HIV-exposed infants
    • Strengthen linkages between PMTCT, follow-up of HIV-exposed infants (HEI) and Comprehensive Care Clinics
    • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the PMTCT program at the facility.
    • Establish a work improvement team for the department and ensure monthly meetings are taking place to discuss the quality of care given to clients.
    • Participate in facility Multidisciplinary team meetings.
    • Provide adherence counseling to patients on HAART and enhanced adherence support to those who are not virally suppressed. 
    • Ensure appropriate monitoring of patients on HAART is done through viral load testing.
    • Undertake assessment, planning and implementation of interventions for addressing patient care problems.
    • Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
    • Working with other health care providers, promoting the right of patients/clients and maintaining the privacy and dignity of clients/patients and staff.
    • Prepare and implement annual work plan based on department work plan.
    • Using your job description and work plan, to continually appraise yourself and rectify any shortcomings or suggest necessary assistance.
    • Ensure that you undertake requisite professional development activities.
    • Perform any other official duties that may be assigned by the Facility in charge.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • At least a certificate in Nursing from the Kenya Medical Training College or equivalent institution recognized by the government of Kenya.
    • Registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • More than two years’ experience in implementation of PMTCT activities.
    • At least 2 years of clinical nursing and management experience.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and good report writing skills

    Pharmaceutical Technologists (2 positions)

    PT/LVCT/1/2023

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Dispense and update the ADT/IQ Care tool real-time.
    • Advise clients on the medication they are taking and provide adherence counseling.
    • Advise Care and Treatment staff on the drugs available for dispensing. 
    • Advise management on availability of drugs for use in the Care Clinic and new trends in pharmaceutical care.
    • Provide OJT on the Pharmaceutical EMR systems (ADT) in use to supported facilities.
    • Together with the Logistics Officer, ensure pharmaceuticals and other medical consumables of the highest quality from reputable pharmaceutical companies are procured.
    • Manage the Pharmacy store and supplies to other LVCT Health sites and supported programs.
    • Develop and promote the use of a stock evaluation and monitoring system for all the LVCT supported clinics.
    • Ensure the safety of all stock from the elements of wastage such as expiry/theft.
    • Compile Pharmacy reports and submit to KEMSA in a timely manner and MOH Sub County Offices.
    • In support with the M & E Division, ensure timely data analysis and submission of relevant reports that assess progress of the Key indicators.
    • Assist in the training of healthcare workers, community health workers and other Health care providers when called upon to do so by the Care Manager in collaboration with the LVCT training department.
    • Providing Information, education and communication to clients and their families in the clinic through health talks, support groups or educational materials like pamphlets.
    • Participate in the counseling of PLWHA’s on adherence to therapy (ARV and Opportunistic infection prophylaxis and therapy), this will be done together with the adherence counselor, nurse and the clinical officer. 
    • Support in development of site specific SOPs for commodity management and inventory management of TB, ARVs drugs and drugs for management of opportunistic infections.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in Pharmacy.
    • Must be registered and holding a current valid practicing license with the Board.
    • Minimum 2 years working experience in a similar role preferably in a HIV/AIDS program. 
    • Knowledge of MoH systems and supply chain management. 
    • Proficiency in computer applications and practical knowledge in using electronic medical records.

    Health Records Information Officers (4)

    HRIO/LVCT/1/2023

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Enter data into the MoH and program reporting platforms including the KHIS, national data warehouse, and all the paper-based and electronic HIS while assuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness in data and all the reports
    • Operationalize the EMR, ensure accuracy, completeness and timelines in updating of data while guaranteeing data reliability and 100% data concordance with multiple data sources
    • Carry out data validation checks to ensure that the facility-based data meets all data quality rules and the status is reflective of the facility performance
    • Perform data quality checks on regular schedule and ensure complete and accurate facility status report is uploaded and reflected in the KHIS and the national data warehouse
    • Conduct basic data analysis and generate routine (monthly and quarterly) data synthesis reports for sharing with MOH/ SCHMT and Program and presentation during the scheduled DDIU clinics
    • Participate in identifying training needs and capacity building for health care providers around M&E, indicator understanding and PEPFAR MER expectations 
    • Provide support for data collection, analysis, dissemination and use among health care providers by running customized reports and dashboards [including Talking Walls]
    • Participate in routine Data Quality Assessments (DQA) and maintain a dashboard to demonstrate progress over time and feedback to program and facility teams 
    • Assure data integrity, identify and immediately notify the M&E Officer of any issues with incorrect or questionable data 
    • Participate in the facility scheduled routine strategic information activities and performance reviews 
    • Ensure that appropriate reporting tools are available and in the right version within all the service delivery points and maintain a clear, updated reporting tools’ inventory to minimize on stock-out
    • Work together with the Project SI team to provide regular feedback on facility achievements against targets
    • Institute data security and patient-level data confidentiality mechanisms while ensuring observance to the SOP and the required guidelines 
    • Ensure full observance to the monthly reporting calendar
    • Perform other program related duties as required by the supervisor from time to time.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in Health Records Management, Information Technology.
    • At least 1 year of relevant work experience preferably in the health sector.
    • Solid experience in DQA and data management in the health sector.
    • Knowledge of Standards and Guidelines for EMR systems and other digital HIS in Kenya.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Laboratory Technologists (2 positions)

    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • The candidate will have the following responsibilities;
    • Ensure correct specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipment
    • Perform laboratory routine and complex examinations 
    • Support development and maintenance of laboratory quality management system and laboratory accreditation through Laboratory Continuous Quality Improvement (LCQI) and/or 

    SLMTA. This include:

    • Development of laboratory policies and procedures
    • Method/equipment verification
    • Performance of IQC and EQA/PT
    • Performance of routine and scheduled maintenance, calibration and certification of laboratory analytical and ancillary equipment
    • Monitoring of laboratory quality indicators
    • Implementation of improvement projects
      • Performance and documentation of RCA and CAPA
      • Collate laboratory data, analyse,review for trends, andmake data-driven decisions timprove laboratory services
      • Actively participate in laboratory and facility Continuous Quality Improvement Teams activities
      • Ensure accurate monitoring of laboratory commodities, accurate forecasting and quantification and reporting
      • Participate in continuous professional education (CPD) activities including CMEs, trainings and workshops/seminars.
      • Collaborate with other professional groups tcreate awareness and increase utilization of laboratory services while enhancing laboratory-clinical interphase

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a KMLTTB - recognized institution.
    • Registered with KMLTTB with a valid practicing license.
    • At least 3 years’ experience working in a busy laboratory and handling HIV and TB samples.
    • Ability tcommunicate effectively both orally and in writing and good report writing skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.

    Clinical Officers (2 positions)

    CO/LVCT/1/2023

    JOB PURPOSE
    Provide health care services in project supported facilities leading to the achievement of the 95:95:95 targets. Working with other health workers and project staff to provide quality HIV services according to MOH guidelines.
     
    KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Support and provide guidance to HTS Treatment Preparation in provision of HTS and adherence counselling services at the facility.
    • Ensure that the facility achieve 95% linkage for clients who are identified to be HIV positive.
    • Ensure immediate initiation of ART for HIV positive clients as per the national guidelines.
    • Provide quality of HIV care services to clients at the facility. 
    • Strengthen/establish appointment management system and defaulter identification and tracking system to ensure 95% retention of clients on ART.
    • Monitoring of clients on ART is especially viral load measurement as per the guidelines.
    • Work with other facility staffs to implement the differentiated care model.
    • Ensure proper patient record keeping on ART, Pre ART, Kenya EMR and other records according to the M.O.H guidelines and stock keeping on all drugs at the CCC.
    • Coordinate On-the-Job Training (OJT) of all health service provider.
    • Ensure there is a system in place to track all missed appointments and treatment interrupters(IITs)
    • Ensure coordination of clinical activities with the laboratory (Clinical Laboratory interphase), data entry staff, nurse and counsellor.
    • Adhere to established standards of practices for Clinical Officers as per regulatory bodies
    • Prepare and implement annual work plan based on department work plan.
    • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the HIV program at the facility.
    • Establish a work improvement team (WIT) for the department and ensure monthly meetings are taking place to discuss the quality of care given to clients.
    • Initiate Quality Improvement Projects on low performing indicators or Quality of service
    • Establish/strengthen Multi-Disciplinary Team to discuss complex and/or treatment failure clients and recommend next course of action.
    • Prepare individual monthly, Quarterly and annual work plan based on department work plan.
    • Provide regular reports to the facility in charge and to USAID Stawisha Pwani.
    • Use your job description and work plan to continually appraise yourself and rectify any shortcomings or suggest necessary assistance.
    • Ensure that you undertake requisite professional development activities.
    • Any other official duties as may be assigned by the Facility in charge.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery or other related area of specialization.
    • 2 years of work experience in provision of HIV services.
    • Understanding of current guidelines on HIV.
    • Valid practicing license from the Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya.
    • Good report writing skills and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
