ABOUT THE ROLE
The Driver /Auto Electrician shall be responsible and accountable for the execution of daily transportation of students and the electrical maintenance of the Nova Pioneer’s fleet of motor vehicles. The role holder will report directly to the Transport Manager.
You will:
- Operate the school motor vehicle in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Ensure that “door to door” policy for dropping and picking of pupils is maintained.
- Follow the planned route on a time schedule.
- Work together with the bus assistant in maintaining order in the bus.
- Report and document any vehicle defect on daily basis.
- Observe speed limits and all other road signs.
- Fuel allocated vehicle as per fueling schedule.
- Drive pupils to educational trips, sports activities and any other school activity in a safe manner.
- Document actual mileage, timings and destination in the vehicle movement book before commencement of any trip.
- Undertake daily routine checks for tires, oil, radiator coolant and lights.
- Notify Transport Manager of any accident/incident immediately.
- Notify Transport Manager of any delay caused by Route diversions, riots etc.
- Follow Emergency policy when involved in emergencies or accident.
- Ensure the allocated school motor vehicle is kept clean on daily basis.
- Ensure the school motor vehicle is safely and securely parked on campus and when on trips.
- Ensure that all pupils on route are on board before journey start.
- Ensure all on board are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers.
- Maintain order and discipline in the school motor vehicle.
Auto Electrician Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnosis of malfunctions and troubleshooting: Establish the nature of motor vehicle electrical problems being experienced, track their frequency and any other unusual occurrences. Conduct inspections and test-drives to establish the cause of the electrical problems and thereafter to confirm that they have been resolved.
- Undertake or supervise the repair of electrical repairs on all school motor vehicles : Fix and repair any malfunction/fault on the vehicle’s electrical system including but not limited to, charging systems, electrical supply systems, ignition electronic systems, lighting & signaling systems, sensors, starting systems, gauges and meters, electrical switches and wiring harnesses.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform weekly safety and maintenance checks on all Nova Pioneer vehicles, document all recommended safety and maintenance data and use it to monitor Key Performance Indicators used in strategic decision making.
- Documentation: Maintain complete and accurate transport related control documents which include; job cards for each repair to be carried.
- Feedback: Propose, participate and provide feedback to the Transport Manager on repairs that have been undertaken and maintain a proactive approach towards the execution of tasks.
- Timelines: Work within timelines that ensure the school motor vehicles are ready for daily routes services with minimum or no interruption.
- Perform any other duties as assigned on behalf of the organization including running errands, transporting staff and ferrying students to the hospital for emergency cases.
Compliance with Internal Policies, Standards, National Laws & Regulations
- Adhere to the stipulated standards and conduct outlined by the Nova Pioneer Transport Policy, the Nova Pioneer Employee Handbook and other relevant policies.
- Ensure that all National and County Legal requirements such as licenses, permits or certificates are met and continually kept current or updated. This includes any motor vehicle licenses, approvals, certificates and permits.
Champion & Promote Safety & Best Work Practices
- Conduct weekly workplace inspection to ascertain adherence to the Workplace Health & Safety Protocols and other relevant standards.
- Participate and own all Health & Safety initiatives that may be recommended by the Health & Safety Committee or other Organisation or School Leadership organs.
- Responsibly handle and operate tools, equipment and machinery according to the prescribed manufacturer’s recommendations and safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor.
- Keep the workshop, equipment and tools in a safe operating condition.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Transport Associate shall be responsible for school-specific Transport Services operations such as oversight of the Nova Pioneer School bus program, teammate orientation and training.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Transport Associate shall ensure all school-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met with respect to safety, cost management, compliance, record keeping, maintenance, feedback collection and action plan execution for effective service delivery to students, parents and Nova Pioneer teammates.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Collect and maintain transport services data including but not limited to;
- Student pick up and drop off timing (bus travel times).
- Keep logs pertaining to daily total distance and timings travelled by the fleet.
- Maintain accurate bus route maps
- Maintain and update student lists and a summary of changes that may occur.
- Keep a record of feedback from parents and the school academic team and the corresponding action plans.
- Prepare fuel consumption, re-fuelling records, maintenance and mileage reports for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual submission.
- Communicate this information to all impacted parties.
- Update all data gathering tools on a daily basis and prepare any specific reports as may be required.
- Using data collected, suggest practices that work towards the improvement of efficiencies including reduction of all unit cost of operations.
- Conduct Transport Services teammate onboarding, training and evaluation.
- Live, participate and lead the Nova Pioneer culture both within the service line and the organization as a whole.
- Playbook procedures and other best practices relevant to the Transport service line.
- Consistently raise awareness amongst teammates and others concerned about these procedures.
- Promote safe work practices in as prescribed by all procedures, relevant policies and compliance standards.

ABOUT YOU
Skills and Qualifications required:
- You have at least 4 years of progressive experience responsible for transport operations management or related area.
- You possess a minimum Diploma in Transport/Logistics Management or its equivalent. A degree in Business Administration and Transport Planning will be an added advantage.
- You have a valid driver’s license - (BCE). PSV license will be an added advantage.
- You possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct (Not more than 6 months).
- You are a master in your craft- you can diagnose vehicle mechanical fault and offer solutions.
- You have good knowledge of Kenyan traffic rules and regulations.
- You have diverse knowledge of estates and roads which is essential
- You have great tech and computer skills with knowledge of Google Suite functions.

- Follow the emergency procedure and work hand in hand with the driver to administer first aid where necessary.
