    Part -Time Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Swimming/PE Coach (Tatu International)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include: 

    • Work with the Associate Dean of Students to create a vision for the swimming program and invest stakeholders in the vision. 
    • Oversee the in-house and regional swimming relationships and ensure the school is scheduled for all competitions. 
    • Create new and support existing partnering by reaching out to schools and other relevant places to seek friendlies and other joint events.
    • Plan and supervise swimming galas, external competitions, manage external competition registration, and accompany students for external swimming galas
    • Develop a strong school team to represent the school in competitions.
    • Develop a training program for all the training sessions in accordance with the school guidelines.
    • Coach and instruct swimmers individually or as a group regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
    • Work with the Dean of Students to procure all needed swimming equipment. 
    • Ensure attendance is taken at the beginning and the end of the training sessions.
    • Hold coaching sessions with swimmers throughout the academic day and residential evening.
    • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
    • Observing, assessing, and recording students’ performance, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of pupils’ progress and development for the school leadership and parents.
    • Providing and conduct assessments, reports, and references relating to individual students or groups of students.
    • Evaluate competitive swimmers termly, assign them levels every term, and create  individual plans for growth. 
    • Take attendance daily, monitor and keep records/ reports of the children’s progress and development.
    • Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests.
    • Providing pastoral care and support to students, providing them with a secure environment to swim. 
    • Prepare the pool area prior to each lesson/ training session to facilitate safe, creative play, and to bring out the best in each swimmer.
    • Ensure the changing rooms are clean with safety mats, external pool areas are clean and pool lanes are clearly marked. 
    • Ensure adequate materials are ready for students.
    • Managing the safe and efficient transition of students to and from swimming sessions. 
    • Ensure simple first aid procedures are done to injured students during swimming sessions.
    • Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and policies and procedures to maintain order among students by providing consistent rewards and/ or consequences for student behaviour.
    • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
    • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Keep, maintain, and regularly update professional records- Records of work covered, progress records, rubrics, and students’ portfolios.
    • Any other duty as assigned by your manager

     ABOUT YOU

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • Registered and active member of the Kenya Swimming Federation. 
    • Holder of Kenya Swimming Federation Level 3 coaching certification above. 
    • You possess a  Lifesaver certification.
    • 1 - 3  years of experience in a similar position working with swimmers.
    • You have basic first-aid training
    • A relevant degree/diploma/certificate in Physical Education or Sports/ Recreational Science is desirable
    • You possess effective coaching techniques and skills. You possess adequate knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
    • You are knowledgeable in a variety of swimming programs. A proven track record of implementing successful swimming programs and competitions is highly desirable.
    • You can communicate fluently- verbally and in writing in English. You can effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small-group situations to students and other school staff. You can verbally respond to common inquiries from students
    • You have excellent interpersonal skills and can build relationships with stakeholders
    • You are flexible and open to change - you handle uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity well.
    • You are a problem solver - you are proactive in identifying issues and addressing these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.

    2026 Agriculture/ Biology Resident Teacher (Eldoret Girls High School)

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Key responsibilities for the role include: 

    General:

    • Maintain positive, constructive and professional relationships with students, their families and colleagues. 
    • Invest in the school community being an active collaboration in culture, communication, workstreams, events, clubs and sports. 
    • Consistently meet the ambitious goals of a rapidly-growing organization.
    • Serve as teacher on duty and/or boarding teacher on duty and support school wide programs aimed at behavior interventions.
    • Support clubs, societies and other core-curricular enrichments at the school aimed at building all rounded students.
    • Serve as a Chaperone for out of school club and sports activities while ensuring students’ safety and well being.

    Teaching and Learning:

    • Teaching the subject of specialization.
    • Infuse joy and passion for learning in lessons  so that students are excited  and interested in their academic excellence.  
    • Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all students, both in academic and culture expectations.
    • Ensuring daily academic monitoring using the data to create reteach plans and differentiated instruction. 
    • Be accountable for students’ mastery of  content and academic standards.
    • Integrate interactive technology into lessons to enhance instructional delivery.
    • Set and communicate rigorous and ambitious goals for all students and provide effective student feedback so they internalize them.
    • Timely capture of students data on academic outcomes and articulation of students progress to NP families and other stakeholders when called upon to do so. 
    • Serve as home room teachers when called upon to do so.
    • Creating subject specific class and school wide showcase events. 

    Curriculum and Assessment:

    • Develop inquiry instruction 5Es (Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, Evaluation) lesson plans and partner with the Curriculum Development Manager in reviewing and updating lessons when required/ desired.

    Behavior and Culture:

    • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and maintain an organized and focused learning environment.
    • Implementing Restorative Justice Practices in classrooms.
    • Following the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) system at the school with fidelity, including but not limited to updating behavior and culture trackers daily. 
      • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior and model expected behavior at all times for students to emulate.

    Parent Engagement and Communications: 

    • Contribute to school wide communication channels example: WhatsApp Groups, Class Dojo Newsletters etc.
    • Make positive parent phone calls and academic and behavior phone calls to parents on a biweekly basis.

    ABOUT YOU

    Skills and Qualifications required:

    • TSC certificate and/ or relevant certification in area of specialization.
    • A Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in Education and qualified to one or two teaching subjects.
    • Strictly have 3+ years teaching experience.
    • You have good working skills with technology such as Word, Powerpoint and Excel
    • You are a great communicator. You are able to provide clear and effective written and verbal communication.
    • You are flexible and open to change - you handle uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity well.
    • You are a problem solver - you are proactive in identifying issues and address these thoroughly by making an effort to find appropriate solutions.
    • You possess demonstrated expertise and practical experience in handling equipment and managing resources specific to the area of specialization.
