    Pool Physiotherapist, Pool Physiotherapy AKUH(OFF)

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct initial evaluation and assessment of patients referred for physiotherapy
    • Identify treatment goals and appropriate therapy techniques and proceed to administer them
    • Conduct patient and family education
    • Conduct regular evaluation of patients to assess progress and response to therapy, revise treatment program as necessary to achieve goals
    • Evaluate the patient’s, need for adaptive devices such as special support, padding, protective gear, assistive standing, ambulation or mobility
    • Maintain daily treatment notes evaluation of patient’s progress and discharge planning notes and summaries
    • Assign patients to physiotherapy assistants or interns with laid out treatment plans and supervise their treatment
    • Control infection by observing hygiene rules
    • Maintain professional proficiency through review of current literature and attendance into continuing medical education programs in line with the physiotherapy accreditation requirements
    • To have a full knowledge of the hospital policies & procedures, protocols, guidelines and adhere to the same
    • Carry out clinical and service audits and evaluate improvement of services
    • Supervising and delegating tasks to physiotherapy assistants and service attendants
    • Ensuring functionality of equipment by participating in regular maintenance/monitoring & testing to ensure minimum equipment downtime
    • Participate in planning and implementation of department goals and objectives to enable optimal performance
    • Observe and comply with environment health and occupational safety measures
    • Participate in the implementation of quality initiative and patient safety programs

    Requirements:

    • Applicants should have Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized Institution.
    • Registered with the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.
    • 2 years working experience in physiotherapy
    • Training in basic life support. 
    • Knowledge of assessment/evaluation techniques in regards to patients, be proactive, have excellent customer service skills.

    Clinical Nurse, Outreach Clinic-Kitengela

    Responsibilities:

    • Complete head to toe assessment and re-assessment of patients to identify their care needs.
    • Asses and systematically collects any data related to patient health status and works in collaboration with the care team to develop the plan of care.
    • Executes nursing interventions by collaborating with the multidisciplinary team incorporating appropriate standards of care, practice and patient outcomes.
    • Provides care that is safe, ethical, patient- and family- centered, culturally congruent and evidence based.
    • Evaluates patient’s responses to plan of care and works in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to make any needed adjustment
    • Utilizes data to continuously meet care coordination needs across settings in conjunction with the patient
    • Document nursing assessment and interventions accurately and on timely basis to reflect comprehensive and integrated approach to patient care and patient experience
    • Identifies learning needs of the patient and families and educates them by adapting to patient and family learning style utilizing the teach-back method.
    • Acts as patient advocates, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met
    • Complete or be working towards any outreach nursing competency frameworks within a time frame agreed with the clinic team leader and with the support of a named preceptor
    • Ensure all near-misses are monitored and documented.
    • Develop written care plans based on patients’ needs, monitor and evaluate effectiveness of interventions.
    • Carry out hemodynamic monitoring to include vital signs, neurological and fluid status; labs results interpretations.
    • Document all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive and timely manner.
    • Administer medication safely, monitor patient responses to medication and report adverse reactions promptly.
    • Dispose of clinical and non-clinical waste safely in accordance with Aga khan University Hospital Guidelines on waste management.
    • Prepare for and assist physicians to perform various procedures in the clinic.
    • Be able to perform EST and spirometry.
    • Maintain adequate airway management to include oxygen therapy, nebulization and suctioning.
    • Perform pain assessment and initiate analgesia as per protocol.
    • Promptly report both clinical and non-clinical unusual findings/incidences to the Clinic in charge, Clinical Quality Manager or Operations Manager.
    • Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching.  
    • Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies, and perform timely safety checks on restraints, examination coaches, oxygen source and other medical equipment in the clinic.
    • Be accountable for judicious and efficient use of resources i.e. accurate and timely billing of clinic stock drugs and consumables.
    • Care for equipment through proper cleaning, storage, per shift check of the inventory and timely reporting and follow up of non-functional equipment to the operations manager.
    • Follow discharge procedure of the outpatients according to hospital protocol and ensure follow up appointments are made where needed.
    • Ensure safe and prompt patient referral/transfer as per institution policy.
    • Participate in clinic-based nursing education, quality improvement (QI) projects, audits, spot checks and skill checks.

    Requirements:

    • Registered Nurse from a recognized school of nursing or University
    • Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Minimum requirement of 3 years’ continuous clinical experience in medical surgical Nursing.
    • Demonstrate evidence-based knowledge of the current practices in general nursing in an outpatient set up
    • Demonstrate leadership skills.

    Clinical Nurse, Accident and Emergency

    Responsibilities:

    • Triage each patient using the CETAS criteria and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs.
    • Identify patients with infectious diseases and initiate appropriate isolation precautions and communicate as appropriate.
    • Perform focused assessment of chief complaints of each patient in a timely manner according to established triage guidelines
    • Provide professional nursing care for assigned patients in the emergency room
    • Complete head to toe assessment and re-assessment of patients to identify their care needs.
    • Carry out hemodynamic monitoring to include vital signs, neurological and fluid status; labs and radiological evaluations

    • Prepare for and assist physicians to perform various procedures such as insertion of invasive lines
    • Maintain adequate airway management to include oxygen therapy, nebulization and suctioning
    • Prepare patients for various investigations including lab and radiological imaging.
    • Be able to initiate care for the psychiatry patient as per policy.
    • Collect specimens in emergency situations and ensure correct labelling.
    • Perform pain assessment and reassessment; and initiate analgesia as per protocol
    • Promptly report both clinical and non-clinical unusual findings/incidences to the nurse manager, team leader or physician
    • Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching
    • Be able to recognize a patient in a pre- arrest or arrest states, and to initiate Basic Life Support
    • Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies.

    Requirements

    • KRCHN /BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University
    • Current Licensure with the Nursing council of Kenya
    • Certificate in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an acute care hospital.
    • Demonstrate evidence based knowledge of current practices in Emergency nursing
    • Demonstrate Leadership and management skills
