    Research Analyst

    About The Role

    We are looking for a data analyst with a passion for research to join the team. We are working with researchers (including Anne Karing and Michael Dinerstein at University of Chicago) to gain insights from Maisha Meds’ point of sale data that can help inform global health policy. We also provide support to partners who are collaborating on randomized control trials to test the effectiveness of our healthcare subsidy program.

    This role will involve working closely with researchers in fields like economics and epidemiology to understand their data needs. Projects might include looking at the use of antimicrobials across East Africa, understanding pharmacy business models, and investigating differential access to drugs across regions. We are looking for someone with the ability to proactively manage relationships and understand stakeholder requirements, while also being interested in learning new technical data skills like SQL.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with researchers to gather requirements and understand their data needs.
    • Perform descriptive analysis on data using tools like SQL and python. Make charts, tables, and other data visualizations using dashboard tools to show health commodity consumption trends.
    • Become a subject matter expert on Maisha Meds’ data. Create documentation on various datasets. Work with data, software, and operations teams to understand how data relates to business processes.
    • Create summarized datasets for researchers. Audit aggregation and anonymization of data to ensure customer privacy.
    • Identify and summarize publicly available research or data sources on public health topics in East Africa.
    • There is potential to learn some data engineering / data modeling skills.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in quantitative analysis
    • Undergraduate degree with coursework completed in subjects such as Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Biomedical Science or Public Health
    • Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with people in diverse fields, both technical and non-technical, and proactively gain an understanding of data needs from different perspectives
    • Project management skills - prioritize stakeholder requests, discuss trade-offs, and think critically about how to simplify requests
    • Good understanding of econometric research methods
    • Demonstrated experience in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, R, Python, or Stata and enthusiasm to learn new tools.

    Senior Product Manager - Point of Sale

    Who We’re Looking For

    An enthusiastic and diligent team member who would join the Product team with a key focus on creating the best digital experiences for customers. You will be responsible for product strategy, planning and execution throughout the full product lifecycle. This includes but is not limited to researching, gathering, and prioritizing requirements, defining the product vision, goals and success metrics. This role is a mix between discovery and delivery and you’ll work closely with the UX/UI Designer, Chief Product Officer, and the rest of the product, tech, and operations teams. The ideal candidate should have a background in product management, preferably with some prior experience working with healthcare or payments products. You should also be data-driven in decision-making and comfortable with monitoring analytics and deriving insights from how products perform and determining the future path of iterative improvement.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Develop and implement product strategies consistent with Maisha Meds vision
    • Collect and analyze user insights from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and end products and lead design sprints for key product features
    • Work with senior management to create product plans and roadmaps, prioritize backlog, and oversee feature breakdown
    • Ensure products and releases are launched correctly and on schedule
    • Make creative recommendations to expand product base and vision
    • Suggest ways to track product use and impact on end users and use data to drive decisions, experiment, and optimise experiences using A/B testing and other methods.
    • Represent the voice of the end consumer throughout the development process.
    • Ensure that high standards of reliability, quality, usability and measurement are adhered to throughout each phase of product development
    • Field visits at least once a month to Maisha Meds facilities with the main aim of gathering insights and making recommendations
    • Own and be accountable for the in-market performance of delivered products, ensuring that your product meets improvement, usage, and customer satisfaction objectives.
    • Build team culture to ensure our engineers, operations team, and others collaborate effectively and love working together

    Qualifications

    • 4+ years of product management or equivalent experience with demonstrated ability to discover opportunities, and then define and deliver products
    • Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch
    • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development by engineering teams
    • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI
    • Analyze market data to develop sales strategies, and define product objectives for effective marketing communications plans
    • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization
    • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates Maisha Meds and its features across primary market segments

    Senior Software Engineer (Web)

    What We’re Looking For

    We’re entering an exciting new phase of our loyalty program and are looking for a strong lead. Not only are we collaborating with researchers, we’re aiming to expand this program to multiple countries this year! We would like the lead to scope the web-based work and deliver on the project, with the support of the tech team.

    We’re looking for an engineer (preferably experienced in Ruby on Rails and React) to collaborate with our tech team, lead development for new and exciting features.

    The Ideal Candidate Has

    • 5+ years of building quality applications
    • A history of writing clean and well-documented code with automated tests
    • Experience building REST APIs and web front-ends
    • Ability to scope large, abstract problems to small, concrete tasks
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a culturally diverse team (we’re a mix of Kenyans and international team members)
    • Ability to lead a small team
    • Experience building systems for environments with limited or intermittent Internet connectivity is a plus
