    Senior CSSD Attendant

    Job Purpose:  

    The post holder is expected to ensures that all items are processed according to strict infection control protocols and standards to guarantee patient safety and support clinical operations in the theatre and other relevant departments.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Decontamination

    • Receive, sort, and disassemble used surgical instruments and medical devices from operating theaters, wards, and clinics.
    • Receive, sort and sluice dirty linen from operating theatres
    • Operate and maintain automated washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and other decontamination equipment.
    • Manually clean delicate or complex instruments following manufacturer guidelines.
    • Adhere to safety protocols for handling biohazardous materials and chemical solutions.

    Inspection, Assembly, and Packaging

    • Inspect instruments for functionality, damage, and cleanliness using magnifying lights and test equipment.
    • Assemble instrument sets and trays according to predefined count sheets and surgical requirements.
    • Wrap, peel-pack, or containerize items appropriately for sterilization, ensuring proper labeling (contents, date, sterilizer cycle, expiry, staff initials).
    • Prepare and load sterilization containers (e.g., rigid sterilization containers).

    Sterilization

    • Operate and monitor various sterilization equipment (e.g., steam autoclaves, ethylene oxide gas sterilizers, hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilizers).
    • Perform and document biological, chemical, and mechanical sterilization checks to ensure efficacy.
    • Understand and follow parameters for different sterilization methods based on item composition.

    Storage and Distribution

    • Store sterile items in controlled environments to maintain integrity.
    • Issue sterile supplies to departments using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory systems.
    • Maintain accurate records of inventory, sterilization cycles, and equipment maintenance.

    Quality Assurance and Compliance

    • Participate in infection control audits and sterility assurance programs.
    • Report equipment failures or breaches in sterilization processes immediately.
    • Monitor integrity and expiry of sterile sets.

     Collaboration and Communication

    • Coordinate with operating room staff, nurses, and clinicians to prioritize urgent requests.
    • Participate in departmental training and serve as a resource on instrument care and sterilization.
    • Any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be delegated by the Supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Education 

    • KCSE means score of C-
    • Certificate in Anesthetic Theatre Technician

    Professional Qualification

    • Up to date Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Job Experience

    • At least 5 years of theatre experience as a technician working in CSSD.
    • Previous experience in a CSSD, operating theater, or clinical environment. Familiarity with surgical instrument names and sets.

    • Attention to Detail: Critical for ensuring instrument integrity and sterilization efficacy.
    • Technical Aptitude: Ability to operate and troubleshoot complex machinery.
    • Organizational Skills: Efficient in managing high volumes of instruments and sets.
    • Knowledge: Understanding of microbiology, infection control principles, and sterilization technologies.
    • Safety-Conscious: Adherence to protocols for personal and patient safety.

    Radiology Manager

     Job Purpose: 

    The Radiology Manager is a strategic clinical–business leader responsible for driving clinical excellence, operational efficiency, revenue growth, and asset optimization within the Radiology Department.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Growth, Business Development & Market Expansion:

    • Drive sustained growth in patient volumes and imaging revenue in line with approved budgets and strategic targets.
    • Lead B2B business development initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing team, targeting
    • Actively strengthen referral relationships through consultant engagement, joint CMEs, feedback loops, and service differentiation, in partnership with the head of department
    • Identify and operationalize new imaging services (e.g. oncology imaging pathways, advanced CT/MRI protocols, fluoroscopy-based services) to support long-term revenue growth.

     Asset Utilization & ROI Optimization

    • Ensure optimal utilization of all imaging equipment, with targeted strategies to grow volumes
    • Develop and monitor equipment utilization dashboards and corrective action plans.
    • Work with Finance to build business cases for new equipment, upgrades, and service expansions.

    Equipment Management & Biomedical Coordination

    • Oversee smooth operation, preventive maintenance, and uptime of all radiology equipment in close collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
    • Ensure service contracts are actively managed, value-driven, and aligned with operational needs in collaboration with procurement and biomedical and engineering departments.
    • Escalate and mitigate equipment risks that could compromise patient safety, diagnostic quality, or revenue continuity.

    Cost Control, Procurement & Financial Stewardship

    • Lead cost-effective procurement and inventory management processes to reduce wastage and optimize consumable spend.
    • Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to negotiate value-based vendor arrangements, improve stock controls and forecasting, Maximize ROI on capital and operational expenditure
    • Ensure radiology services are delivered in a financially sustainable manner

     Clinical Quality, Safety & Accreditation

    • Ensure full compliance with Radiation Act (1985), Radiation Safety Standards, ISO standards, SafeCare Level 5 requirements, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
    • Drive hospital-wide operationalization of SafeCare Level 5 standards within Radiology, including audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee imaging protocol development and adherence in collaboration with the HOD and clinical departments to ensure consistent diagnostic quality.

    Network Coordination & Strategic Partnerships:

    • Liaise with marketing to Coordinate referral pathways to drive B2B and inter-facility imaging volumes and Support joint clinical programs and CMEs.

    Patient Experience & Service Excellence:

    • Ensure an exceptional patient experience through efficient scheduling and patient flow reduced turnaround times, effective handling of complaints and feedback and embed a culture of patient-centered, responsive imaging services.

    People, Capability & Leadership

    • Develop and implement a staffing and recruitment plan aligned with service growth.
    • Assist the Head of department in identifying training needs and specialization amongst radiographers in the various radiology fields/modalities
    • Identify skills gaps and ensure targeted training, mentorship, and professional development.
    • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and innovation-oriented radiology team.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Degree or Higher Diploma in Radiography
    • Master’s degree in business, Healthcare Management, or related field is an added advantage

    Experience

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in radiography and imaging services
    • Hands-on exposure in CT, MRI, General Radiography, or Sonography
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership or managerial role
    • Demonstrated experience in service growth, operations, or turnaround environments is a strong advantage
