    Laboratory Technologist

    Responsibilities
    Key Responsibilities

    • Analyzing patient’s specimen and giving results within acceptable TAT
    • Screening all blood for viral markers and providing accurate results to Medical Officers
    • Monitoring reagents to ensure the section has enough supplies and utilization is within the budgetary allocation
    • Performing quality controls to monitor the bias and performance for the Department.
    • Assisting in training Phlebotomists and students on attachment
    • Assisting in bleeding donors as per the laboratory standard operating procedures.
    • Attending to patients’ queries and demonstrating good public relations and customer service.
    • Performing and managing quality control checks for all pre-analytical processes, consumables, and the environment.
    • Supporting the laboratory to attain ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation

    Qualifications
    Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

    • Bachelors Degree or Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science and Technology or its equivalent
    • At least 3 years of relevant working experience
    • Registered member of KMLTB
    • Computer Literacy
    • Experience in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision

    Phlebotomist

    Responsibilities
    Key Responsibilities

    • Timely collection of blood samples and other types of specimens for laboratory investigations from both in-patients and out-patients as per the test requirements.
    • Timely recording and distribution of specimens to the laboratory for processing.
    • Maintaining adequate stocks of phlebotomy supplies within the section.
    • Bleeding donors as per the laboratory standard operating procedures.
    • Attending to patients’ queries and demonstrating good public relations and customer service.
    • Performing and managing quality control checks for all pre-analytical processes, consumables, and the environment.
    • Recording the daily lab records register.
    • Supporting the laboratory to attain ISO 15189:2012 Accreditation.

    Qualifications
    Key Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

    • Certificate in Phlebotomy or its equivalent
    • At least 2 years of relevant working experience
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Experience in an accredited laboratory will be an added advantage
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
