About Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Centre
DMI Centre was established in 1999 as an NGO with the objective of creating awareness in diabetes and its management. DMI also empowers people with diabetes, provides screening on diabetes, hypertension & body weight, raises funds to support projects, facilitates training among peer educators & heal... read moreth care providers and conducts research to assist in the management of diabetes.
DMI develops documents and delivers comprehensive programmes for creating public awareness in and for prevention, diagnosis and management of diabetes. DMI provides services to people living with diabetes, their care-givers, healthcare professionals the community in general and other stakeholders involved in diabetes management.
To achieve these, DMI conducts free community awareness and screening in different facilities e.g. churches, schools and medical camps. See walk-in clients at a small fee, screening/ testing at the centre , conducts outreaches, data collection, client/patient management follow up, referral of clients, and networking with like minded organizations.
DMI also works through volunteers who are involved in education, raising awareness, knowledge and management of diabetes among the public. In addition, DMI conducts medical camps, training of teachers and other medical personnel. Key partners in DMIs work include the ministry of Health and other hospitals and organizations such as Safaricom Foundation, WDF and NORVO NORDISK . DMI also holds fundraising activities i.e golf tournament and diabetes walk

To encourage people living with diabetes recognize the importance of good blood glucose control in order to avoid complications associated with diabetes
To provide information about diabetes complications and enable people living with diabetes live quality lives
To enhance self care by addressing the social, cultural and psychological aspects of diabetes
