    Health Informatics Officer

    Job Summary
    CHAK is seeking to hire an experienced Health Informatics (Data Management) Officer to strengthen data management systems and drive the automation of data processes. The role will be responsible for configuring and customizing the organization’s digital health reporting system, automating data exchange and quality assurance processes, and developing customized performance dashboards to support data-driven decision-making. The officer will be based in Meru under the Jamii Tekelezi project 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Developing digital data collection tools, performing data cleaning, providing training and support for data entry, querying reports and generating performance dashboards 
    • Configure and customize digital platforms, including DHIS2, Kobo Collect, and other mobile applications, to meet CHAK data requirements, enhance functionality, and support efficient data flow across systems 
    • Automate data retrieval processes and integrate data systems with data visualization platforms to improve efficiency and provide real-time access to performance insights 
    • Facilitate seamless data exchange and system interoperability by integrating project information systems with other digital health platforms and electronic medical records (EMRs) 
    • Support capacity-building initiatives through training of end users and various projects on DHIS2 functionalities, data retrieval, interpretation, and use. 
    • Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation, ICT and other program teams to strengthen data management practices and align data systems with organization strategic plan 

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or any other related field 
    • Minimum of two years of proven experience in data management, digital health systems, or health informatics within the health sector 
    • Proficiency in interpreting healthcare trends and using tools like SQL, Apache Superset, Stata, or R for data exploration and visualization 
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience in DHIS2 configuration, systems customization, and maintenance  
    • Experience with relevant programming languages and technologies (e.g., Java, PostgreSQL, JavaScript) 
    • Understanding of national health information systems, MOH reporting requirements, and Taifa care EMR system

    Assistant Software Developer

    Job description

    The Assistant Software Developer will support the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of digital health solutions within the CBSL–HIS Department. The role involves working closely with senior developers to enhance existing systems and contribute to the development of new web, mobile, and cloud-based solutions.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development and enhancement of software solutions supporting CBSL–HIS projects. 
    • Support the deployment, installation, and user training of developed systems for clients and platform users. 
    • Participate in research and development initiatives to improve existing HIS solutions such as CHMIS and other platforms across PC, mobile, and cloud environments 
    • Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and user manuals for all HIS solutions. 
    • Support the maintenance, debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization of CBSL–HIS systems in line with industry best practices 
    • Perform any other lawful duties as assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the role. 

    Job Requirements

    • IT, BBIT, Computer Science, or a related field Or,
    • IT, BBIT, Computer Science, or a related field
    • Strong working knowledge of JavaScript and at least one modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
    • Proficiency in PHP and PHP frameworks, particularly Laravel.
    • Experience in mobile application development using frameworks such as Flutter or React Native.
    • Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
    • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including version control systems (Git), containerization with Docker, and basic container orchestration concepts (Kubernetes).
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a production software development environment

    ICT Intern

    Job Profile
    The ICT Intern will support software development activities and contribute to website design, updates, and digital presence initiatives. This dual-role internship provides exposure to digital health systems, web design and management, and creative communications within the CBSL–HIS environment. 

    Key Responsibilities & Duties

    • Assist in providing solutions to CBSL–HIS software and system need. 
    • Support end-users through basic troubleshooting, user training, and system testing for applications under development. 
    • Participate in marketing and communication activities for CHAK/CBSL/HIS, including the design of basic marketing materials. 
    • Support system debugging and troubleshooting under the guidance of the supervisor. 
    • Assist in the development of system documentation, user guides, and manuals. 
    • Perform any other lawful duties as assigned by the supervisor, within the scope of the role. 

    Qualifications

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, BBIT, Computer Science, or a related field (or awaiting completion). 
    • Strong understanding of web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 
    • Basic understanding of UI/UX principles and experience with design tools such as Figma and Canva. 
    • Familiarity with at least one JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular, or Sencha). 
    • Basic knowledge of backend technologies such as PHP and its frameworks; knowledge of Go or Java is an added advantage. 
    • Understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. 
    • Familiarity with Git version control systems and DevOps practices is an added advantage.
