Execute surveillance, performance monitoring, maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment
- Day-to-day surveillance of building and equipment and reports all building and customer defects
- Monitors performance of equipment, installations and co-provides input on power usage reports such as electric metre data and capacity planning
- Supports in the maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment in accordance with change requests, Service Level
- Agreements (SLAs) and Measure of Performance (MOP)
- Co-directs repairs and maintenance executed by external employees and documents the performed activities in accordance with change requests, SLAs and MOP
- Provides practical direction for external security employees
- Makes suggestions for improving the quality and effectiveness of the data centre
- Participates in the full continuous (24×7) call-out team and/or shifts
Result: Surveillance, maintenance, and repairs of buildings equipment are performed in accordance with quality standards and agreed SLAs.
Customer Implementation process
- Under the co-ordination of the Operations Manager, co-install or cosupervise installation of new customer equipment in the data centre and keep a complete record of the process and results
- Offer day to day Customer support during customer upgrades projects and support all customer queries coming through the customer portal or via phone call
- Carry out performance-tuning operations on data centre systems to ensure high level of power availability, and security
- Support Sales team in pre-sales technical support
Result: Customer interventions and value-added services are performed in accordance with quality standards and agreed SLA’s
Perform day-to-day client management activities
- Ensures that the data centre is maintained and operational 24/7 by providing daily audits and reporting about the performance level of services
- Supports the Data Centre Manager to maintain all data centre standards, procedures, health and safety, and day to day infrastructure performance issues
Health and Safety Compliance
- Adhering to all Health and Safety Measures set out to ensure all works done at the site are safe
- Preparation of work permits and change management forms for approval by the Operations Manager
- Preparation of Methods Operations Procedures (MOP) for all Operations
- Undertaking Risk assessment before undertaking any operations and seeking relevant approvals
- Provide HSE training, awareness and induction on site to staff, contractors and other relevant parties
- Perform safety audits and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
Result: Adhering to all rules and regulations regarding health and safety.
Operations Processes and Procedures
- Understanding the company processes, procedures and adhering to them in day-to-day operations
- Acts as first line of response on alarms and handle or escalate alarms according to guidelines.
- Participates in inventory control of supplies in liaising with the team

Learning and Development
- Follow online courses on Data Centre design, construction, and operations
- Proactively engage with your colleagues to understand more about the Data Centre industry

Keys Skills and Qualifications
- A degree in either Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
- Telecommunication, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 –3 years’ experience as a technician in an electrical or industrial environment
- Knowledge of data centres is a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of ISO safety, quality and environmental standards (preferred)
- Network and power capacity planning experience
- A solid understanding of network and data cabling
