    Teacher of Business Studies and Economics (Up to A-Level)

    Job & Person Specification: Teacher of Business Studies and Economics (Up to A-level)

    • The successful candidate will be able to teach Business Studies and Economics across the whole Senior School (Year 7-13), including IGCSE and A Level.
    • We are a non-selective school with a relatively wide ability range. Being able to inspire pupils of all abilities is essential.
    • The willingness to take a full and active part in all aspects of a thriving and progressive school is vital, including the ability to coach team sports and/or take an active part in the wider co-curricular programme.
    • The post holders will be accountable to the Head of Department.

    Applicants should have:

    • At least a B.Ed. in Business and Economics.
    • Experience in teaching the National Curriculum of England and Wales up to A-Level.

    Human Resources Manager

    Duties and responsibilities will include:

    Talent Acquisition

    • In liaison with the Headmaster, conduct manpower planning and develop the school’s recruitment strategy tmeetrecruitment targets.
    • Accountable in recruiting efforts such as long-listing candidates, coordinating interviews with the managers, participating in interviews as an ex-officio, recommending new sources for candidate
    • recruiting, managing job postings on various platforms and offer management tsuccessful candidates.
    • Build and maintain a strong network of potential candidates through proactive market research and ongoing relationshipmanagement
    • Carrying out background and reference checks and preparing recruitment status reports for use bymanagement.
    • Participate in new employee orientation and provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits tfoster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
    • Champion talent management by Working with Headmaster and line managers to implement innovative retention strategies.
    • Be a change agent and specifically coordinate the implementation of the school’s happiness culture initiative.

    HR Policies and Procedures:

    • Institute and implement HR strategies, policies, procedures and best practices and providing guidance, advice and support tmanagement and staff in applying relevant organizational policies & directives and seeking feedback about these
    • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems and personal issues that could affect work.
    • Support in reviewing and implementing staff rules and regulations in consultation with the
    • Headmaster, union. I.e. HR manual, CBA, Code of conduct, employment act, environmental policies, safety policies etc.
    • Act as the secretary representing the employer in CBAnegotiations.

    Employee relations

    • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems and personal issues that could affect work.
    • Working closely with departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers tunderstand and implement policies and procedures.
    • Prepare formal hearing briefs present at all personnel-related hearings and investigations.
    • Analyze statistical data and reports tidentify and determine causes of staff problems and develop recommendations for improvement of staff policies and practices.
    • Facilitate a culture of fair employee relations through managing the internal misconduct and grievance processes within the parameters of labourlegislation and HR policies
    • Oversee research, investigation, negotiation and resolution of all types of appeals and grievances.
    • Work withHeadmasterinthe developmentofintegratedappeal andgrievancesolution
    • Ensure that allstaff members knowwhatstepstfollowand whomtcontactin case of a grievance

    Performance Management and Training

    • Participate as a professional advisor in the formulation and implementation of performance management policies
    • In liaison with HOD’s support implementation of the performance management system fairly
    • and on time and follow through on performance outcomes.
    • Providessupportin advising managers and staff on performance managementtensure
    • effectiveness, compliance and equity.
    • Planning, and sometimes delivering,training, including inductionsfor new staff.

    Wage, salary and benefits administration

    • Receive and review grievances and complaints related tentitlements and benefits, assessing
    • and evaluating the merit of each case and making recommendations for resolution;
    • Provides advice tstaff as first the point of contact regarding interpretation and application of
    • policies, regulations and rules concerning conditions of service, entitlements and benefits.
    • In liaison with Headmaster and Finance manager, determine benefits andentitlementsforstaff ont he basis of contractual status inline with the salary structure
    • Facilitate relevant payroll variable inputs.
    • Review and prepare reports on overtime

    Law observation and compliance

    • Research on and advise the management on changes in employment laws and laws affecting employees and their work
    • Ensure that all HR activities and operations conducted by the school are statutory compliant.
    • Support the facilitation of statutory required certificates and licenses are obtained and properly kept for easy retrieval when needed.
    • Implement and observe CBAregulations
    • Leave and Attendance Management:
    • Manage leave and attendance system and take measures that all the employees follow through the same.
    • In liaison with the HoDs address highlighted problem cases of attendance and work with the supervisor tcorrect the same.

    Leadership and Operational

    • Lead the HR Department
    • Generate accurate and timely HR reports in the required format as requested by the Headmaster.
    • Constantly update the organogram and ensure zerjob duplication
    • Lead application of immigration permits for foreign students and staff
    • Lead in succession planning and advise on reward model for long-servingg staff
    • Lead in sourcing for staff insurance covers and provide the link between staff and the insurer/ insurance broker
    • In charge of staff housing
    • Provide guidance and supervisory role tadmin representatives

    Applicants should have:

    • A HR-related bachelor’s degree or any first degree plus post-graduate HR qualification
    • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in end-to-end HR management and leadership
    • Member in good standing of IHRM
    • Working experience in an international school will be highly advantageous
    • People-oriented
    • CHRP(K) or a current CHRP student
    • Experience in managing different types of employees- consultants, expatriates, contract, unionincluding CBA negotiations
    • Knowledge of Kenya’s employment laws
    • Knowledge of relevant immigration status application will be advantageous
    • Experienced and qualified ladies are highly encouraged tapply.
