    Automation and Control Technician

    About the Job

    Detailed responsibilities include:

    • Programming, installing, maintaining and replacing automation systems on key equipment and facilities.
    • Troubleshooting and repairing non-functioning components of the automation system.
    • Periodically reviewing automation systems on equipment and facilities and recommending upgrades where necessary.
    • Creating blueprints for new automation systems, making improvements to existing ones and using computer-aided design (CAD) software to turn these plans into a functional reality.
    • Ensure reliability of automation systems by performing autonomous, preventive, condition based and predictive maintenance on them.
    • Conduct root causes on all major failures of the automation system.
    • Ensure optimal stock of automation spares is maintained, and, in liaison with maintenance planner, ensure timely replenishment of the spares to prevent machine stoppages.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time

    Minimum Academic Qualification and Experience

    • Diploma in Electronics, electrical engineering, instrumentation and control engineering, communication engineering, mechatronics and related disciplines.
    • Additional training and certification on programming (of PLCS, VFD’s etc.)
    • At least 5 years’ experience gained from a busy manufacturing facility.
    • High level of technical aptitude – exceptional knowledge of industrial control systems, programming, electromechanical systems, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems etc.
    • Proficiency in electrical design, diagnostic and testing software.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • ·Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Great organizational and time management abilities

    Maintenance Planner

    About the Job

    Detailed responsibilities include:

    Planning and scheduling:

    • Create and update preventive maintenance schedules based on equipment usage, manufacturer recommendations, and historical data.
    • Together with assistant Engineer, prioritize and assign maintenance tasks to technicians based on urgency and impact on production.

    Spare parts management:

    • Monitor and manage inventory levels of critical spare parts to ensure timely availability for repairs.
    • Monitor consumption rates for spares and report and/or perform root causes for abnormal trends.
    • Coordinate with procurement department to procure necessary spare parts in good time.

    Collaboration and communication:

    • Collaborate with production teams to identify potential maintenance needs and schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
    • Communicate maintenance plans clearly to all stakeholders and ensure alignment.

    Performance analysis and Continuous improvement:

    • Analyse maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Continuously improve preventive maintenance programs, ensuring that day to day experience in maintenance is used to optimize the preventive maintenance programs.
    • Continuously gather improvement ideas from all equipment and facilities stakeholders and plan for necessary equipment upgrades and modifications.
    • Identify knowledge gaps on operators, technical operators and technicians and recommend suitable trainings

    Maintenance Documentation and reporting:

    • Generate reports on equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and other agreed maintenance performance metrics.
    • Ensure that all preventive maintenance forms and reports are done within the same day of maintenance and are filed appropriately.
    • Ensure all RCA reports are done accurately and filed appropriately

    Minimum Academic Qualification and Experience

    • Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, mechatronic or any related field.
    • At least 5 years experience working as a maintenance planner or supervising a major engineering function in a busy factory.
    • Technical knowledge - Strong understanding of industrial machinery, mechanical systems, electrical components, and basic troubleshooting.
    • Possession of substantial maintenance hands on experience will be an added advantage.
