    Research Assistant - Nairobi

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Setting up laboratory study assays, reporting and troubleshooting assays.
    • Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimen.
    • Receiving and collecting, labelling and registering patient specimen.
    • Preparing and making laboratory orders for reagents.
    • Maintaining equipment and reagent inventories for the study
    • Supervising the disinfection, washing and sterilization of study apparatus.
    • Documenting and reporting study results.
    • Processing the specimen according to the specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Oversee sample storage and shipping processes including Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs).
    • Planning for field trips for the study as required.
    • Preparing and presenting scientific findings of the study as required.

    Vacancy Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Medical Microbiology OR Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.    Mandatory
    • Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or any other recognized regulatory body.    Mandatory
    • Proficiency in phlebotomy procedures.    Mandatory

    Study Coordinator - Nairobi

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the project manager to plan and deliver the research work.
    • Prepare study materials including training materials and standard operating procedures.
    • Prepare work plans aligned to project deliverables.
    • Co-ordinate and oversee data collection and management including data quality checks, storage and archiving.
    • Supervise research assistants attached to the Project.
    • Co-ordinate adherence to funder’s technical and financial requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with policies on ethical conduct of research and human subjects protections.
    • Co-ordinate shipping of samples locally and internationally.
    • Carry out any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.

    Senior Research Scientist (Social Scientist) - Busia

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement qualitative and mixed-methods research activities in accordance with the study protocol.
    • Develop social and behavioural research tools, including interview guides, questionnaires, focus group discussion guides, and observation checklists.
    • Conduct qualitative interviews, focus group discussions, and community consultations with study participants and stakeholders.
    • Lead social and behavioural assessments to identify barriers and facilitators to vaccine acceptance, trial participation, and participant retention.
    • Monitor participant experiences and identify social, cultural, ethical, and behavioural issues that may affect study implementation.
    • Ensure ethical conduct of social science research, including obtaining informed consent and maintaining participant confidentiality.
    • Collect, manage, analyse, and interpret qualitative and mixed-methods data using appropriate analytical software.
    • Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, scientific manuscripts, and presentations based on study findings.
    • Contribute to dissemination of study findings through stakeholder meetings, scientific conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
    • Mentor junior research staff and field teams involved in qualitative and community engagement activities.
